san's eyes shot opened as the sound of the bell rang through his ears. he sat up and rubbed his eyes with a groan causing the boy next to him to chuckle.

"did you pay attention in any class today?" san looked at his friend with squinted eyes, still not fully awake. he rolled his eyes, resting his head on his hand.

"does it concern you?" mingi laughed at san's usual attitude and began to collect his stuff. san tiredly threw his things into his bag and followed his friend out of the classroom.

the two boys walked together with mingi doing the talking while san hummed or nodded in response. they parted once they reached mingi's house, waving goodbye to each other before san continued walking to his own house.

san reached into his pocket for his keys once he was stood in front of the door and groaned when he realized his pocket was empty. he sighed before knocking on the door and his frustration only grew as he got no response. he waited a few more seconds before he knocked loudly, still getting no response. he kicked the door out of anger and sat down on the ground, leaning against the door.

"fuck this." san scoffed and took his phone out of his pocket to dial a number. he waited for a few moments, praying they'd answer, before they finally picked up.

"hey san, what's up?" san smiled at the voice.

"hwa, can i stay at yours for the night? i'll explain later." san heard a sigh from the other end and his smile faded. "nevermind, it's fine."

"no san, please stay. i'm not annoyed at you, obviously something happened and i'm just disappointed because you deserve better. come over quickly, i'll make us food."

the smile reappeared on san's face and he nodded before realizing seonghwa couldn't see. "thank you, hwa."

san hung up and stood up, grabbing his bag as he made his way to his friend's house.

"hey sannie." san was immediately pulled into a hug as the door flung open. he smiled and returned the hug.

"you know, if anyone else hugged me or called me that they would be dead by now." san laughed and seonghwa pulled away with a smile, nodding.

"oh hongjoong's here by the way, i hope you don't mind." seonghwa said with a sheepish smile and san raised an eyebrow.

"you two have been hanging out a lot lately." he grinned as he followed seonghwa into the living room where hongjoong was seated on the couch eating popcorn. seonghwa rolled his eyes as he walked over to hongjoong, smacking the snack out of his hand.

"no snacks before dinner." seonghwa glared at the younger boy before turning back to san.

"oh, hey san." hongjoong waved at the boy with a smile. "hwa, when will the food be ready?"

seonghwa looked at the boy with another glare as he led san to his spare room. "you can leave your bag in here and get tidied up, the food will be ready in a few minutes."

san nodded and thanked him. seonghwa smiled before leaving, closing the door behind him. san sat down on the bed with a groan. he put his phone on charge before pulling out the spare clothes he always carried in case of situations like this. once he had changed and gotten tidied up, he walked back to the living room where the other two were cuddled up.

"aww, they look like very close friends." san said sarcastically, causing the pair to jump and move away from each other. "relax, no need to get so panicked."

hongjoong blushed and picked up a pillow to cuddle. "shut up san, just wait till you find someone."

san scoffed as he plopped on to a single chair. "yeah, like that's going to happen."

"true, who would want your stubborn ass?" hongjoong laughed, dodging the pillow that san had launched at him.

"okay, let's eat before y'all wreck my house." seonghwa shook his head and stood up with the arguing pair following him.
