Sidious

Darth Sidious entered a lift in the same building where Plagueis had died. He pressed a button and within a second, he was ascending to the top floor. He turned to the figure standing next to him and smiled. The figure had given only his name, Rahziid, and a small, transparent box. He asked only one thing, to replace Maul as an apprentice. Sidious looked at his tracker to see that Maul had just left Ahch-To. He laughed to himself and wondered how Maul would come back from this. The lift had just reached the top floor and both figures stepped out in unison. Sidious headed to the right and Rahziid followed. Sidious sat at a table and gestured for Rahziid to sit down. The same table where Plagueis and Sidious had sat, earlier that week. A servant entered the room and poured two glasses of Naboo Wine. The old servant had had to be killed as there could be no witnesses to Plagueis' murder. Sidious drank his Wine in one gulp but Rahziid's was left untouched. Instead he produced a hip-flask full of Jawa Juice.

"A wise decision, Rahziid. That wine was poisoned and would have killed you within a second," Sidious smirked. Rahziid did not look surprised in the slightest. He had survived various assassination attempts and this would be no different.

"I gave you the archives and Maul failed. Let me replace him as your apprentice," said Rahziid.

"It was I who told your friend, Diego, that Maul would be on Ahch-To. I was expecting you to duel him, and for Maul to beat you. It looks like you cowered away from the challenge and allowed a witness in the form of a boy to live. You do not deserve to be my apprentice, no more than Maul does. You are both weak!" Sidious shouted.

"Allow me to duel him, sir. I won't fail you," said Rahziid.

"You had one simple task, one! You had to prove Maul's loyalty by engaging him in a duel. Instead, you decided to not only allow a witness to live, but to let Maul escape, unscathed," replied Sidious. The Master sighed and touched his lightsaber which was hidden in his robes. One hit was all it would take to kill the man who sat before him, but he decided against it. He wondered to himself why he didn't just take the young Anakin Skywalker to be his apprentice right now.

"You will go to my home-world planet of Naboo," Sidious spoke. "There you will engage in a duel with Maul. Go alone and use any methods you wish. Whoever survives will be granted the title of Darth."

"As you wish, my future master," Rahziid said coolly.

"We will see about that," Sidious muttered as Rahziid exited the room. "We will see."

Sidious strolled over to the glass panelled wall of the corridor and looked at the Jedi Temple. It was sunset and a few lights were turning on in the city below him. He stared at the Temple Entrance with envy. How he wished he could live in a place so grand and which held so much information. The archives inside must contain details about every planet and solar system in the Galaxy. Some day, he would kill all of the Jedi and make Plagueis' goal a reality. He stared down at his lightsaber and smiled. It had killed seven Jedi Knights and four Jedi Masters within the last four years. Plagueis had insisted that he should kill some Jedi so that the Council would be aware that their time was nearly up. It was unwise but Plagueis had a thing for exploiting fear. He had hoped that someday, many Jedi would turn to the Dark Side of the Force so that killing those who remained would become much easier. Sidious remembered what Plagueis had said before he had died, that his victory would be short-lived. He looked down at the last remaining piece of the Jedi Archives from Ahch-To and smiled. It looked as though he would find his answer soon enough.
