Chapter 35: Memory

"On behalf of Great Britain, we are happy to bestow an Order of Merlin, First Class to Chief Warlock Harry James Potter Lord of the Most Ancient and Noble Houses of Gryffindor and Slytherin, the Ancient and Noble houses of Potter, Peverell and Gaunt and the House of Umbridge for the protection of the members of the International Confederation of Wizards against Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore the Thief," the place erupted into cheers, whistles and claps.

Fudge was positively ecstatic and he looked like idiotic; but then again, when did he not?

Harry took the award from the Minister and gave a short bow. It was three days after the meeting and he had not gone back to Hogwarts. It was the summer holidays after all.

He spent the last two nights cooped up in the study with Lupin and Sirius wreaking havoc, trying to get him to 'play with them' or 'be normal', whatever that meant.

Harry James Potter wasn't normal since before his birth, with the whole prophecy and all that, and there was no changing that.

In the past three days, he had gotten at least 30 letters from different countries requesting his presence in their country for an award of sorts. Harry was obligated to say yes and that meant that for the next month or so, he would be travelling, spending one day in each country. Today was his last day in Britain for over a month.

"Come on, pup," Sirius drawled, "You never have any fun."

Remus nodded in agreement. They both leaned on the doorframe at the entry of the study.

"I will be travelling for the next month so... I need to get this work done," he looked at them with a stern expression, worthy of rivalling Minerva's. When they didn't budge, Harry gave in, "Fine, I'll be there in half an hour."

They both jumped for joy and left the room.

At the moment, Dumbledore was in a magic-repelling cell in the confines of Azkaban, awaiting trial and Harry was ecstatic, though of course, he couldn't show it. Dumbledore was almost in the same position that Sirius was in for 10 years. The old Sirius would have demanded that he got a trial but there was no denying that he was guilty and... Bella's slight insanity may have rubbed off on him.

Harry felt a disturbance in the wards and he concluded that there were at least 7 people in his house, none with ill intention but one with power and a lot of it. Voldemort.

Harry shadow-stepped to the living room, the place that he sensed they were and blended into the shadows. Sirius was shushing everyone and Harry concluded that Tom, Bella, Bart, Fen, Severus, Rod and Rab were all there.

"Awww, you wanted to surprise me?" he whispered in Sirius' ear causing him to jump.

The lights went on and Sirius had a sour look on his face, "Did you have to ruin it?"

Harry shrugged, "You think that I wouldn't sense them?"

"Sense them?" Everyone got up from their hiding places. Remus was standing at the opposite end of the room from Fenrir, looking pale, understandably so.

Harry shrugged again.

"Surprise?" Remus finally said.

Harry got a good look at the room and it was decorated in Slytherin green and Gryffindor red.

"Wow! I never saw this coming?" he faked shock and put a hand to his chest.

"Yeah, yeah, alright," Fenrir chuckled. Remus avoided eye contact with Fenrir at all costs, even facing a wall one time.

The gathering was mostly just people talking about politics and quidditch and whatnot. It was nice to get away from work once in a while.

Before they knew it, it was midnight and Harry had to go to Colombia first thing in the morning.

They said their goodbyes and good lucks and Harry found himself packing for his trip...

***

Harry walked through the corridors of Hogwarts once again. The trip had gone on longer than expected and he only made it back the day before the term started. He had gotten his OWL results in the mail when he was in China and as expected, he got straight Os and lots of extra credit. He had gotten the top scores ever in the history of OWLs and offered to take his NEWTs in his third year. This time, it was his first NEWT because in his last life he didn't get round to it. He was too busy defeating a Dark Lord

His reaction was...

"Eh..."

After discreetly dropping his things off in his dorm, careful not to alert anyone in the dorm or the common room, he made his way to the Great Hall, in hope of getting something to eat and saying hello to the teachers.

Harry shadow-stepped to his seat at the Staff Table during Lunch and started getting food to eat. He was sat between Minerva, who sat in the Headmistress' seat and Flitwick.

Flitwick was the first one to notice, "HARRY?" he squeaked loudly, alerting the entire hall. Great.

The students turned to look at the table and saw Harry sitting there.

Harry gave an awkward wave and the students stood and cheered; the Slytherin table, especially, were cheering as their lives depended on it.

Minerva pulled Harry into an unexpected hug. Harry had just had at least 40 days of claps and cheers. It got tiring at times.

"Thank you, thank you," he finally said and the clapping got quieter until it completely stopped apart from a certain pair of red-heads.

Lupin got the DADA job just like last time and thanks to the creature laws that Harry had put in place, as long as he took Wolfsbane and stayed safe during the full moon, he could teach freely. That led to a summer of thankful letters from Werewolves everywhere.

Harry sat and started to eat. It was a long time since he got to have a normal amount of food because in each country he was invited to banquets or hardly got to eat anything because he was travelling.

He caught up with the teacher and he told them about the whole exam situation and they congratulated him.

Everything was good but as normal, something had to come up. Dumbledore's trial was in a week...

Harry had to lessen his amount of lessons and assisting jobs because of the workload that came with being Chief Warlock but he insisted on taking all the NEWTs, some of them self-studied so no time-turner, unfortunately.

With Dumbledore not being able to do his job as Supreme Mugwump, Harry had to unofficially settle arguments as the temporary moderator which resulted in trips overseas about once a fortnight.

It finally occurred to Harry why Dumbledore disappeared once in a while.

Perhaps he had made too good of an impression because it led him to even more work than before.

Harry was mumbling a song that he had heard once, "Snape, Snape, Severus Snape, Dumbledork...," when he looked at the clock and grabbed his cloak. He was getting some last-minute work done before Dumbledore's trial.

"Disciplinary Hearing of the 8th of December into offences committed by Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore the Thief, Resident of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Scotland. Interrogators, Cornelius Oswald Fudge, Minister of Magic of Britain and Alysha (not gonna tell u my last name), Chief Warlock of the Republic of Singapore. Charges against the accused are as follows; that he did in full awareness of the illegality of his actions attempt to harm the Chief Warlock of Magical Britain and therefore putting the entire International Confederation of Wizards in danger on the 7th of June 1993."

They sat in the largest courtroom Harry had ever seen with half of it filled with witnesses from other countries, otherwise known as, the most important political figures in the world.

Albus sat in the middle of the circular dressed in a surprisingly tidy Azkaban uniform and an unreadable expression on his face.

Harry sat in the box with the other world leaders, occasionally whispering something to the person next to him, Sani Ado.

"How do you plead?"

If Harry had it his way, he would be the one to lead the trial but unfortunately, as the victim, he couldn't.

Haha, 'victim'.

"Guilty," he stated impassively.

"Do you consent to trial under Veritaserum?"

"I do,"

Once the Veritaserum was checked that it was Veritaserum, it was administered to the compliant ex-Headmaster.

"State your name for the record,"

"Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore," Yup...way too many names.

"State your age,"

"113 years old,"

"The questioning may begin," Fudge announced, "Did you, Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore knowingly fire curses at Harry James Potter,"

"I did,"

The people in the stands nodded.

"State the reason for this,"

"I wanted to get revenge for tearing my reputation to shreds as well as out of fear out of the threat that was given to me earlier in the year."

Sounds of confusion came from the stands and their eyes went to Harry, who just raised an eyebrow. Dumbledore had a smug smile on.

"Please elaborate," Fudge sounded worried.

"After I was caught by Chief Warlock as I was looking through his private property on his property-,"

Harry smirked and the people glared at him. In the Wizarding World, if you did that on someone's property the penalty was Death. He was super lucky.

"a man came into my office and warned me not to mess with Harry James Potter,"

Okay, now- they were confused.

"Would you like to present a memory of this incident for further investigation into this accusation?"

Harry was smug but Dumbledore didn't know why.

"Of course,"

The Head of the DMLE came up to the old man, wary of him, and pointed her wand at his temple.

A silvery liquid slowly began to be extracted from his head before turning pink and disappearing completely. An effect that came went they don't remember the incident completely or the effects of a Parselmagic charm. Either way...

Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

"Madam Bones, please attempt that again,"

Dumbledore was utterly confused and closed his eyes concentrating as hard as he could. This was his chance to ruin Harry.

They attempted it two more times before the law came into play as it dictated that in the case of a trial, an official may only try 3 times. This was because doing it any more than that would damage the brain permanently, not that Harry wouldn't want that.

Harry was metaphorically jumping for joy as it was his turn to be questioned. Of course, he didn't show it.

Harry sat in the black chair once again with poise and a professional look on his face.

"State your name for the record,"

"Harry James Potter."

"Age?"

"13," Haha, Dumbledore tried to curse someone a century younger than him. Comedy gold.

"Please share with us a recount of the meeting on the 7 June up to the point where Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore was taken into custody."

"I was listening and writing notes about the World Leaders speeches when it was time for Cornelius and me to start. I must admit that during the opening of my speech I may have shot a few petty remarks at Dumbledore but I did not mean any harm by it," he stated professionally. He was so lucky that it was not a trial under Veritaserum.

The law stated that no child under 15 could be subject to questioning under Veritaserum unless there was sufficient evidence.

They collectively glared at Dumbledore who was sitting in the corner of the room, looking a mix between confused and fuming. He was sooooo done for...
