Family Hurts - Chapter 5

Damie's POV.

"How is this possible?" His voice was so quite it was almost a whisper.

"Niklaus we learned this was possible when Hope was born. Don't be so over dramatic." I always thought that as soon as I saw my father we could just jump into each others arms and that I could finally be happy. However, my father seemed more shocked than delighted. I guess I just deluded myself into believing that my father, of all people, might be able to show even an inkling of that emotion.

"Elijah please don't patronise me when my child is present it would be very much appreciated" I thought he was referring to me. However, I found out how wrong I was when he looked down at the small child he had earlier been having a tea party with. She didn't look much like our father, aside from her ocean blue eyes. It pained me to my father so happy when he looked at her. I wish he would look at me that way. But how could he? He's only just met me.

My father has surprised me. Quite a lot actually. I've only known him 10 minuets but he doesn't live up to his expectations. He's described as manipulative and cruel. However, the side of my father that I had seen... Was kind and gentle. Most people would call me insane for using these words to describe him... But thats how I saw him. And who I believed he really was. Even if he rarely shows it.

"Niklaus, I think it's about time you had a chat with young Damarus here"
"Please, Elijah call me Damie. Damarus sounds so old fashioned and frankly rather dul." At first Elijah's face was blank. His expression unreadable, but then a smile crept onto his plump lips...

DAMIE! STOP HAVING WEIRD THOUGHTS ABOUT YOUR UNCLE! GOD!

"Niklaus how could you ever deny that she is your child? She sounds just like you." The longing in my uncles voice showed how much he wanted my father to talk to me. Elijah can't even be entirely sure that he's my uncle, so how could he ever convince Klaus that he's my father? Jesus, my dad's side of the family is confusing.

"I haven't refused to talk to the girl Elijah, you just haven't given me the chance to properly introduce myself to her." Then, after what felt like years of him ignoring me, he turned to look at me. With that famous Klaus Mikaelson smirk. "Hello, I'm Niklaus Mikaelson. But you can call me Klaus." His smile then softened and he put his hand out for me to shake.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Klaus, I'm Damarus Mikaelson, but you can call me Damie."

After a moment of silence I noticed his hand was still out for me to shake so I took it. "So Damie. I think it's about time we talked. don't you?"

"Yes Klaus... Yes I do"

=====================

Klaus' POV

I have no reason what so ever to believe that this girl is my daughter. The only evidence she has is a last name and the fact she looks like Patricia. Patricia, was one of the most magnificent woman you could ever lay eyes on. She had these eyes that you could just get lost in. She truly was an angel. And leaving her in this burning city when I had to flee from my monstrosity of a father. It tore me apart. The day I left her. That was the day I finally snapped. I have to push these blasted memories out of my head.

"So, Damie. You say Patricia is your mother."
"Was." That was the only word she could come out with and it was all that she needed to say. I couldn't help but reach out for the girls hand. I want to tell her how much I loved her mother and that I was so sorry that I couldn't have been there for her when I should've. But I couldn't. I didn't want her to think I was that sympathetic.

I quickly withdrew my hand and walked to the other side of the room. This girl was clearly Patricia's daughter. There's no way she couldn't be. They had the same hair, eyes, lips. But Patricia wasn't the most innocent of woman back in her day. So there is absolutely no evidence that she is mine. Except for her outstanding wit, that is exactly like me.

"Look, Damie, I don't know if you are my daughter or not. But if you want me to trust you as an ally, you have to prove your worth." This girl could just be some random vampire that had managed to find out about my past. She needed to prove she was my daughter before I could trust her.

"Fine, come on Klause. I need to show you something."
