Welp, that's great! (Chapter 25)

PiC ComMenTs  (I personally really like this fanart, I'll put the rest of it at the end of the chapter, pls tell me someone made a fanfic about this. ;-; if you search "Loki Thanosson" You should find the fanart I'm talking about)

Cassidy stared at the haze of blue, not blinking. One of the benefits of being the school staring contest champion was that you can keep an eye on your friend while he does something extremely life-threatening, that while Cassidy admits, suggested he do it himself. Her answer to Happy repeated itself in her head; "Fine, we won't tell him. But why can't we tell him?" "Because I have to. And soon." It was true, when Pepper had asked whether something had happened to Loki when he was younger, and she had to resurrect him.

She forced the memories of that day at bay but to no avail. The screaming, the crying, the flailing, and the heart-wrenching sobs haunted her to this day. She felt her heart ache, almost as painfully as the day when it first happened. She remembered the dread that filled her body when his convulsing stopped. Breathing, although shallow, which was there not a few moments ago, abruptly ceasing with a lurch of his chest. She killed him, she had let him die. She tried to reassure herself that he was merely unconscious, not deceased, not gone. All it took was one moment to check his pulse to confirm her fears. He was dead.

Horrible flashbacks played before her eyes that day, remembering the many horrible and unfair ways Lokis died, (Also, yes I'm saying Lokis now, and not Loki's or Lokis' because what they in Thor and Loki; Double trouble.) and she's been too late to stop it. The sacred timeline Loki being choked to death, while still being alive, but paralyzed and unable to move or communicate to the collapsing world around him, but more importantly, his brother. She was brought out of her thoughts when a distant voice spoke up; "Cassidy! Cassidy!" The voice was tinny, and she barely noticed it in the sea of memories.

But responsively, she did. She blinked, and her arduous recollections vanished and were replaced by a concerned-looking Pepper Potts staring at her, and a tense Happy at her side, as if he was sure what to do or why he was even still here. "Cassidy?" Pepper repeated, causing the young girl to look at her. "What happened? You fell on the floor and started crying. Is something wrong?" The unanswered question was left out, that something was wrong, it was just that Cassidy didn't want to tell her what. Cassidy took in a shuddered breath, and pulled herself up off the floor, wrapping her arms around herself protectively as she did so.

"No, nothing's wrong. Or at least anything that you can help with." Cassidy replied curtly, the frigid tone in her voice made a reappearance, although lightly. "Just memories. Nothing important, or that you can help with for that matter. Something happened, it was finished and it was done. Simple." She swallowed, a hefty intention still in her mind. She had to tell Loki what happened that day, the emanation of not telling him far outweighed the consequences of telling him. With her decision in mind, she shifted her full attention back to the mist.

It swirled, nothing changed in the colour or texture of the fog, It shifted slightly, but she could have imagined it. Abruptly, the whirling stopped and blasted outwards in a flurry of amber. (To be exact, the *yellow* amber, not the honey-coloured amber, or orange) Loki's outline amongst the outburst was still visible, she sighed in relief that her best friend was indeed alive, and not dead. The flash died down, and she hazardously opened her eyes. She glanced at Loki, just in time to see him plummet to the ground. She waved her hand, teleporting herself a few feet closer to him. Unlike what most people thought, the rules of teleportation were much less restricted than most thought them to be.

For one thing, you didn't have to know beforehand where you were teleporting to, Seidr, or magic as most amateurish people called it was sentient. It was alive and had a mind of its own. It had to be cared for, challenged and orderly. Almost like taking care of a puppy. And since it was alive, it also had its intelligence. Most, if not all of the Völvas and Seidrmadrs that Cassidy had met had a favourable relationship with their Seidr, meaning they were fruitful in the art. On very few occasions, the legatee hadn't had a pleasant relation with their Seidr, and there were consequences.

Either 1, the donee perished from the Seidr's command, or 2, the conferee expells the Seidr back to Yggdrasil and the stipendiary loses their connection to the world tree along with it. If that happened to an Asgardian, he or she would lose all connection to the mythical being, and by default, all of their immortality, invulnerability, etcetera, etcetera. Luckily, that only happened in outrageous circumstances and had only happened once in Cassidy's million years of existence. Thankfully, it had happened to an Odin variant, and she smiled the whole time. (XD this entire paragraph and the one before was just a magic lesson) She shook herself out of the memory and turned to Loki.

He was on the floor and grasping at his chest. A haze of green materialized around him, and then disappeared, his illusion had fallen. That was not good. She grimaced as she stared at him unsure of what to do. She swallowed, then cursed herself in an ancient language no one knew, for having to do this to her friend. She swallowed, then placed both her hand on Loki's temples and sent a probe of golden magic at his mind. Instantly, the convulsing stopped. Pepper came closer and peered over her shoulder; "What did you do?" She questioned.

Cassidy sighed; "I... well. To put it blandly, I..." She paused and swallowed; "I mind-controlled him to go to sleep." Pepper's eyes widened; "You mind-controlled him? Again?" Cassidy swallowed; "I- I'm sorry." Pepper sighed, then pulled the younger girl into a hug. Cassidy froze. While yes, she was usually the person giving other people hugs for reassurance, no one had approached her and hugged her willingly. She fought back tears and wrapped her arms around the older woman. "Thank you." She whispered.

Pepper smiled at the young girl, her minority showing. While yes, she was over a million years old, and would most likely have millions of more years to live, she was still a young girl. Is this what it's like to have a daughter? Pepper thought to herself. Cassidy spoke up softly; "Morgan." Pepper let go of the hug, and turned to Cassidy; "Who?" She asked. "Morgan," Cassidy repeated; "You and Tony's daughter. In the future." Pepper blanched, she and Tony were going to have a kid in the future? That was surprising.

The moment was interrupted though, by Jarvis's voice speaking up; "Miss. Bell, Miss. Potts, and Mr. Hogun. I would like to inform you that the Avengers in the infirmary have woken up." Cassidy and Pepper glanced at each other, Happy seemingly forgotten, or he was simply staring at the two and being remarkably quiet. Cassidy got to her feet and stared at Loki, who was unconscious on the floor. "I'll bring him up to the infirmary," Cassidy said, as she snapped her finger, and a gold haze formed around Loki and lifted him in the air.

Pepper stared at Loki, then at Cassidy's glowing hand. "Is- Are you ok?" Cassidy glanced at her glowing hand and shrugged; "Yeah. It's magic. I'm fine." And with that, she turned away from the group, past Happy and clicked the button to the elevator. The elevator arrived instantaneously, seeing as there wasn't anyone else in the building to transport, and Cassidy stepped inside, followed by a hovering Loki. "You guys coming?" Cassidy hollered to the group.

Pepper snapped out of her stupor and stepped up to the elevator, followed by Happy. The concern on pepper's face slowly drained at the thought of seeing Tony again, hopefully in one piece. The trip in the elevator was quiet and tense, most likely about the fact that they were occupied by their thoughts or the fact that Loki was hovering unconsciously in the lift, (BristiSh WorDs) taking up quite some space in the already-crammed elevator. The elevator dinged merrily at the floor and the group shuffled out. Pepper went first, followed by Happy, Cassidy and a floating, syncopated Loki.

Cassidy stepped forward to get ahead of Pepper and Happy, skipping slightly. She walked up to the infirmary door and blasted it open unnecessarily with a burst of magic. (Imagine Wanda blasting through the base-thing to get to Vision, except it's more Cassidy being dramatic because . . . why not?) The Avengers were in the room, only a few of them were awake, the only alert ones being Thor, Steve, and Tony. Bruce, surprisingly was still unconscious, along with the assassin buddies. Thor and Steve turned to look at the door slowly, while Tony shifted to face the door abruptly, seemed more awake and observant than the other two.

"What are you doing here?" Tony asked, his tone slightly ambitious, Thor cut in; "Stark, please. Miss. Bell, where is my brother?" Cassidy raised an eyebrow, and turned to Steve; "Aren't you going to ask a question?" Steve only sighed and shook his head. "Well, first of all, Tony, Pepper's here, you can talk to her. And Thor, Loki's here. Don't worry, he's just unconscious." Cassidy reassured as she stepped further into the room, followed by a hovering Loki. Thor looked like he was going to ask about what had happened, but decided to keep the question for later.

Cassidy walked up to a vacant bed, a few cots away from Clint and Natasha, and cautiously placed him in the bed. She was about to step back but decided to add a charm on him to monitor his vitals. Just in case. She assured herself. She turned away, guilty ideas swarmed her brain. She took a deep breath, then turned to Thor, who was undoubtedly waiting for an explanation on why his brother was lying unconscious. Cassidy was about to answer when the room churned as if she'd stood up too fast. She reached out to grasp something to steady herself, but there wasn't anything within range and she fell to the floor.

She gasped as she stared at the ceiling, which had turned a bright yellow at some point, she could feel her arm and legs convulsing against the floor as if she was being electrocuted, but minus the actual electricity. A seizure? She thought lethargically. It was the most likely excuse. She felt her throat close up involuntarily, causing her to choke for air, if this was what Loki felt like in Infinity War, which he most likely would have, she would gladly kill another Thanos Variant, and preferable add his head to her stuffed head collection, which mostly consisted of Thanos, Ebony Maw and . . . that was pretty much it.

Her magic flared up, most likely trying to stop whatever it was from choking her to death but to surprisingly no avail. Apparently whatever was there, wasn't there, physically that was, it wasn't a solid or a liquid, (Or a gas for y'all science geeks such as myself) it was magic. Yellow magic, she realized anxiously. A voice spoke up, Wanda's voice, loud and clear in her mind;  So you're the one he chose, a good selection. The voice faded towards the end, becoming tinny before yellow blinded her vision before it finally, and mercifully went black. (Anti-climactic writing part 2)

Infirmary P.o.v during this entire scene, cuz y'all are probably confused as Hel

Cassidy placed Loki carefully on the bed, then turned to Thor, probably to give him a hopefully reasonable explanation for why his brother was currently passed out on a hospital bed. A few moments after Loki was placed on the bed though, something happened, as small as it might be, it happened nonetheless. A small, glittering gold ball was slowly forming above the comatose Jotun. It wasn't noticed by anyone, only Jarvis noted the anomaly and was about to report it to his master, who was currently chatting with Pepper when it exploded. It blasted with incredible vigour, knocking everyone clean off their feet. Now you are probably wondering why the fraction of the mind stone decided to do this, well it was simple. Loki requested his friend get a different power, and a unique ability she shall receive.

A small fibre of the stone crept out of the stone snakelike. It paused before all of the unconscious Avengers, before finding its intended target, Cassidy. It slowly made its way, pausing before her head, then lifting her off the ground. It slowly nudged itself into her heart, making its way to her magical core. It placed a small orb of blue light into the gold sphere, then swiftly left. It eluded back to the orb, which was still floating above the senseless Asgardian, and with that, the yellow mist vanished.
