Sanctuary *Part 6* (Chapter 13)

*I don't know if I made this clear, but slanted lines are Loki's thoughts,s in the memory room thing, just to clarify.*

"So basically, Illusion projecting is like a different version of you, but not exactly you. Duplication casting is making a replica of yourself at the moment." Tony recapped, Illusion-Loki nodded and resumed the hologram. Loki fell to the ground, falling through Maw, he got up and looked around, confused. He stepped up to Maw and waved his hand in front of his face, Maw continued to stare pointlessly into space.

Loki mumbled under his breath; "What the?" before poking Maw, to his surprise his finger went through his arm. The spot where his finger jabbed him, started disappearing, Loki stepped back as Maw fully dissipated, as if he was never there. The room started fading away, revealing a dark metal room. "That's the Illusion-room?" Steve asked, Illusion-Loki nodded. Loki looked around the room, dazed. He backed away slowly to the wall, he bumped against it, he glanced around the cell, with wide eyes, staring at everything, as if expecting it to explode. The screen started zooming out, stopping at a room, with 2 shadowed figures staring at a glass wall.

"Who are those?" Bruce asked, pointing at the screen, with the 2 figures, Illusion-Loki replied; "Him, and the Maw, they usually watch the Illusion room for my... reactions to the setting." Tony spoke up; "Why do you keep calling Thanos," Loki flinched at the name, while Natasha, Clint and Thor shot him glares that could kill, while Tony continued; "him, you make it sound so... ominous." Illusion-Loki sighed once again before replying; "Thanos still has a.. hold on my mind still. Saying his name would prompt... disagreeable consequences." Thor voiced; "What consequences, brother?" Illusion-Loki exhaled audibly before answering his question.

"The usual ones would be mind games, such as nightmares, hallucinations, and such, but I would say the worst is speaking to me in general." Tony added; "Nightmares are awful, but hallucinations seem worse." Illusion-Loki replied; "The nightmares come on their own, either way, but you're correct Stark, the hallucinations are worse." "What are they about?" Natasha asked, Illusion-Loki responded; "Well, the hallucinations aren't always about my time with the Chituari in the past. He can... well, it's hard to explain, but the basis is that he can force me to... create a duplication of myself, but I can feel everything that happens to it. That would be the best way to describe it I assume."

"So, basically, he forces you to create a doppelganger of yourself, then he can mess with you as much as he wants?" Bruce summarized, Illusion-Loki nodded his head. The Avengers, once again, blanched, Clint finally broke the silence after a few minutes; "Tha- that's just sick, he's insane, no worse than that, he's crazy!" Illusion-Loki mumbled under his breath; "Mad Titan."

Illusion-Loki spoke up; "The sooner we get this done, the sooner you can leave, and I was reading a fairly good book before you all arrived, so can we please get this over with?" Murmurs of confirmation rang around the room, Illusion-Loki snapped his fingers; Thanos turned to the chitauri standing beside him; "Change the setting." "To where, father?" Maw questioned as he waved his hand slightly, the Titan smirked before giving his answer; "Asgard."

The Maw clicked his finger together, and the scene shifted. Where there once was a dark metal cell, there now was to a bright city, with a beautiful, gleaming gold palace in the middle. Much, much bigger than the Illusion room, but thanks to the illusion, it seemed like it was under an infinite amount of space. The Avengers gasped at the view, too stunned to speak. "That's where you live?" Natasha asked, Thor, nodded, with a small smile on his face, feeling a bit homesick.

Loki looked at the scene changing with wide eyes, he stepped to the wall and didn't move. Maw then spoke up; "He won't engage, we need a setting that will keep him occupied, father." The Titan turned to his adopted son; "What do you propose, Maw?" Maw flicked his ginger, and a small image appeared in the air; "A tunnel, father. I believe this would keep him occupied." The Titan responded; "Very well, but we need to remove his memory of this event, he must have no hope whatsoever."

The chitauri replied; "Yes, Father." Maw lifted a finger, and the Illusion in the room fell, Loki looked around the room confused. Maw waved his hand, and the Asgardian fell to the floor, unconscious. Maw lifted him telekinetically and carried him out the door.

Loki woke up, his head throbbing, but by this point, it was normal. He was once again in the blue forcefield, he didn't struggle as usual, since last time, he'd gotten electrocuted. It wasn't pleasant, to say the least. Maw walked -well floated to be more accurate- into the room, he stopped by the keypad and glanced up at the Asgardian. He strolled over and grabbed the cord and shoved it into the back of the Asgardian's head. He couldn't hold back a scream before he stopped.

Maw clicked a few buttons, before turning to the door, after a few seconds the Titan entered the room. He glanced at the Asgardian before turning to the Chitauri. "Did it work?" Thanos questioned, The Chitauri replied; "Yes, Master. It did, he has no recollection of our illusion of Asgard." "Good, test the hallway tomorrow if it is successful, continued to utilize it," Thanos commanded, the Chitauri nodded, and the Titan left the room.

The Chitauri approached the Asgardian and grabbed the plug, pulling it out of the port, Loki remained motionless. Probably unconscious, weak runt. Maw thought as he made his way to the keypad. He clicked a few buttons, and the Asgardian fell onto the floor. The Avengers coughed, Tony spoke up; "I get it that you were unconscious for this, but why do we have to go through this?" Illusion-Loki shrugged.

Maw telepathically lifted Loki off the floor and brought him to the same cell as before, he lifted him off the ground and dropped him on the floor. He locked the door then left, the screen faded to black. "Oh, this is awful," Bruce whispered, Illusion-Loki, somehow (Superhearing) heard him and replied; "I would say you are doing well so far." Tony spoke up this time; "Woah, how did you hear him, I can't hear him." Natasha replied; "Yes, well Tony, no surprise there, if you keep playing your music at full volume, of course, you would end up deaf."

Everyone either chuckled (Bruce, Cap, and Loki) *I kinda forgot Cap existed when I wrote this, so I added him* or laughed (Thor, Clint), while Tony was sulking at the comment before declaring; "It's called AC/DC Natasha." Natasha rolled her eyes at Tony, who gasped and said mockingly; "How could you Natasha, and I thought you knew me."

Tony slouched in his chair and turned towards the screen, Illusion-Loki snapped his fingers and resume the hologram; Loki roused and looked, he was in the same cell, as usual, no surprise there. He refreshed his memory to see if anything had changed, he'd been doing it more often since he got the port implanted, no one knows what the Chitauri could do to his memories. He noticed a gap in his memories, not large, but apparent.

He recalls being in a metal room, and then everything went dark. He stirred, feeling as if he was floating. He didn't have enough energy to open his eyes, but enough to hear sounds, he felt something- or someone- shift around him. He heard swift, but heavy footsteps approach him, which stopped in front of him, a few centimetres away, he assumed. He heard a cranking sound, quickly followed by clicks, almost like multiple keys being turned.

He felt a - now familiar-, port being shoved roughly in the back of his head, he screamed and then everything went black. Everything beyond that was what had just happened in his cell. Loki opened his eyes, sighed, and leaning against the wall. Everything had gone downhill ever since he ended up here. He had almost no memories of Asgard, any memory of his brother or mother had been unpleasant, and he had no pleasant memories of Odin to being with.

Another memory resurfaced, he felt himself be taken and placed directly into the memory. "What's happening?" Steve questioned, Illusion-Loki responded; "I'm recalling a memory, like what you are doing now, but from the first person." Illusion-Loki snapped his fingers and the hologram resume. Loki was looking down at a glowing blue rectangular prism, with carvings in the box.

"what's that?" Bruce questioned, Illusion-Loki replied; "The Casket Of Ancient Winters, the heart of Jotunheim." Loki shook his head but ended up placing his hands on both sides of the Casket. If this does work, and I am a frost giant, then the destroyer will do its work. Thor paled. "What's the destroyer?" Bruce asked, Illusion-Loki replied; "It's the guardian of the weapons vault, it's automatically programmed to disintegrate any enemies of Asgard, Jotuns included." The Avengers remembered Thor talking to them about Jotuns earlier and fixed their eyes on the screen.

Blue slowly started crawling up his arm, he heard the sound of the destroyer being activated. Thor looked away, but to his relief, a voice boomed out; "Stop!" "Father?" Thor questioned, Illusion-Loki nodded, then looked away from the screen. Loki spoke up; "Am I cursed?" Odin replied; "No." Loki questioned; "What am I?" Odin responded; "You're my son." slowly turned around, showing him with blue skin and red eyes. "Woah, what happened, you're blue," Tony asked Illusion-Loki replied;

"That is my Jotun form." "Aren't they, the sworn enemies of Asgard or something like that?" Tony questioned, Natasha, shot him a glare, IIlusion-Loki sighed, then replied; "Yes, they are." Thor spoke up; "Yes, but we considered them less important than us and we belittled them, I will try to change our ways." Thor smiled hopefully at his brother after declaring his statement, and Loki - surprisingly - gave him a small smile.
