~ Chapter 6 ~

I feed those last words into my mind so when Eren asks them, they won't sting as bad.

"Mikasa, your scarf has food on it," Eren chuckles lightly.

I notice the grey-brown stain smeared on her poinsettia scarf as she gently unwraps it from her neck. Her neck is left raw and pale, probably due to the fact she never takes it off.

"I'm going now," She smiles, getting out of her seat. I follow her actions and go up to my room, to get ready to have a shower and go to bed for the night.

As I walk into the joint bathroom, I hear gentle singing in the shower. The shower I use is joint with Sasha, Jean and Connie who like myself have private bedrooms. I look into the mirror and see my reflection, and a frustrated, tired girl blinks back at me. Tears sting my eyes as I look at her, as I can tell with one look how sad she is. Sasha comes out of the shower stall in cute yellow pyjamas and a wet towel in her arms.

"Hello, (Y/N)!" She grins, accompanied by a muffled yawn.

"Good evening, Sasha," I try to smile.

"What's wrong? You're usually chirper than this! Is the weather bringing you down?"

"Yeah, slightly. I'm still sore from the titan testing too," I admit.

"Luckily Eren killed the titan that held you before you got eaten by it! If he didn't transform I'm sure either Mikasa, Reiner or Bertholdt would have saved you, though," Sasha giggles.

"Mmm. So, you and Conny, eh?" A genuine ear to ear smile is drawn on my face.

"Well," Sasha blushes, "We have a lot in common, and if there is a buffet like last year, I'd want to make sure we'd be the first ones there," She laughs.

"Cute," I say in reply.

"So, who are you going to go with?" Sasha playfully punches my arm.

"I don't know if I will go, Sasha. I mean I would go with you all, but if there is going to be a slow dance..."

"Oh, come on, I mean I don't imagine we have to do it! It'll be fun..." Sasha pulls my arm and whines.

After a warm shower I walk into my room and turn on my lantern. I can hear the soft sound of rain outside and it relaxes my thoughts. I lie down on my crisp sheets and think out loud. Should I even go to the Scout Ball? If I see Eren and Mikasa I'll just be broken...maybe I should just stay in my room and draw or write.

I hear a knock at my door, loud and sudden that gives me a slight fright.

"Coming!" I shout on the other side of the room, getting of my bed and tiptoeing along the polished wooden floor.

I open it and look up, and to my surprise see someone I was not expecting.
