Reader POV

"To travel though time is dangerous," Lord Ledior said with a stern glare. "And the space you go to
is called The Void."

He sat down and looked down at his own grimoire. "To think I'd be teaching someone about The Void. I never imagined it- especially my son's future fiancé."

"Huh?"

"My son is enamored with you," he said with a faint smile. "So don't you dare get lost in The Void or else I'll have to pull you out and I'm not certain this old man can do what I was able when I was younger."

"Then maybe I should come with her," Langris said as he opened the door. "Father, I'm more than capable."

"Son, you aren't ready. The only reason I'm so willing to teach the princess is because she has magic that can allow her to rewind time if anything goes wrong." Lord Ledior eyed his son up. "Not to mention you'd only be an extra worry for her."

"Lord Ledior with all due respect, he wouldn't be an extra worry for me," I said. "But your father's right, Langris. This is bigger than we think."

"But if you're risking your life, I'm coming with you!" He shouted. "I refuse to leave you alone!"

"Stubborn boy," Lord Ledior sighed. "I will only agree to teach you as well if we get that member in the Golden Dawn who uses compass magic."

"Lady Letoile Becquerel?" I asked.

"That's the one." He held up his index finger. "Her magic may be able to guide Langris as I am not certain he can keep track of you when you travel through The Void. I only traveled there myself, so
I wouldn't be able to know if any others could do so."

Lady Liliane looked worried as usual. "Ledior, are you sure our son should go?"

"He'd follow her anyway," Ledior sighed. "I feel better knowing he's going instead of finding out if it's too late."

"Fine, I'll allow him. But you must go with them! The Void is a dangerous place."

"Very well." Lord Ledior sighed. "We'll start following lunch. Langris, (y/n), contact Lady Letoile Becquerel. We're going to practice traveling to The Void."

He left his office with his wife by his side, whispering lowly to her.

I opened a portal and located Letoile by the garden talking with David.

"Letoile? Can I talk to you?"

She nodded. "Certainly."

I guided her to another area, my voice low.

I explained the plan to her and she looked deep in thought.

"I would be happy to assist, but are you certain this will work?"

"Nope."

She double blinked before smiling a bit. "Alright. Normally I'd decline, but I believe I can trust you."

"Perfect! But this is a secret mission that only Princess Lolopechka, Lord Julius, and of course the captain and us know about," I said.

"I didn't hear anything," she winked at me. "Now. When do we start?"

"Following lunch. Lord Ledior has invited you."

"Oh great," she frowned. "I don't know how Finral and Langris put up with him. He's so annoying at times. And his wife! She's all bark and no bite."

I snickered a bit. "You said it, not me."

We passed through the portal back to Tota, seeing how the lunch was already ready for us and the others were seated.

"Lady Letoile Becquerel," Lord and Lady Vaude nodded to the noblewoman.

"Lord Ledior Vaude, Lady Liliane Vaude," she nodded back. "Lord Langris,"

I sat down next to her, across from Langris who looked irritated for some reason.

I had the displeasure of sitting next to his mother who insisted on speaking to me only about my plans when I became queen.

"How many dresses do you think you'll own? And how about state balls? And the crown jewels!"

"Lady Liliane, I'll be fine," I said.

"And of course you'll marry Langris," she beamed. "Our son will be the Prince Consort! Or if you get married before the coronation, he'll be the king!"

"Mother," Langris hissed at her.

"What? I'm just making sure my baby boy will be taken care of. I expect you'll teach her about hosting a ball given she's never had a proper upbringing." Lady Liliane smirked at me. "Oh that reminds me. Princess (y/n), how come you never learned these things? Surely-"

Langris stood up and slammed his hands on the table. "Mother, stop it right now."

I could tell he was beyond angry, but I also knew he was slightly curious as I told no one but Lord Julius what I went though as a child.

Letoile just sat there with visible discomfort but chose to keep quiet as this was really none of her business.

"Why? Dear, surely you're also curious?"

I held my hand up. "If you really must know my past, I welcome you to explore it."

My grimoire opened and a new spell appeared.

"Wait, that's the spell to enter The Void!" Lord Ledior looked at me with shock. "Princess, I understand your anger right now, but you cannot cast the spell right now!"

The air grew cold and almost everything except the people turned to ice.

Servants fled the area, fearful of their lives.

"Why not!? We'll enter The Void right after lunch. Why wait?" I turned to look at Lady Liliane with anger. "You wanted to know about my childhood, huh? Then go."

"(y/n)!" Langris appeared in front of me, hugging me tightly in a manner to try and calm me down. "You can't use your anger like this! Trust me on it!"

"Oh yeah? Like when you almost killed your older brother? How about-"

"You're not thinking straight. Ignore her and focus on me." He held my face and wouldn't let go. "Just look into my eyes."

I felt myself calm down and released my icy grip on the area, the ice disappearing.

"I...I apologize." I stood up and removed his hands off my face, opening a portal back to the mountains I once called home when I needed somewhere to go and think on my actions."

"Wait!"

But it was too late.

I was breathing heavily, my mind clouded with fear.

The last time I let my anger get out of control resulted in the death of a close friend.

I would never forget his name.

Shadow Kuroo.

He would follow me everywhere and refused to leave when I lost control of my magic the first time when I was 14 and woke up from the coma.

He had hugged me tightly and my ice impaled him before I could regain control.

I closed my eyes, not wanting to think of the memories that hurt too much.

"(y/n)."

I looked behind me and saw the projection my mind conjured up every once in a while.

Shadow was standing right there, a frown on his face and disappeared in his amber eyes.

"Shadow, I almost did it again."

He sat down, moving his messy raven locks. "I know. But thankfully, you didn't."

"I can never let it go away."

Shadow stood up, walking towards me. "And you shouldn't. How many times do I have to tell you, (n/n)? You can't run from your past, but learn from it. I'm proud of you, you know. You stopped yourself from doing that to that prickly noblewoman."

I heard a portal open followed by the sound of boots crunching on ice.

I looked back where Shadow was, but he was gone.

"(y/n)?"

"What is it, Langris?" I didn't dare to look at him.

He sat down and leaned his head on mine, wrapping his arms around me. "I apologize for Mother's actions. Are you okay?"

I shook my head. "I've been much better."

"What do you want me to do?"

"Langris, do you want to know about what happened before I cane that day to the Magic Knights exam?"

"That isn't a priority," he said gently. "I'm more concerned if you're alright and if you need anything."

"Sweet talk gets you nowhere, loverboy," I sighed. "I want to show you. You won't enter the void, but it's a hologram spell I discovered recently at the beginning of my grimoire that I never used before."

I opened a spell and held his hand since I knew he might need it.

His hand squeezed mine tightly when he saw certain events unfold, his eyes glimmering with sorrow.

By the time the montage ended, he was shaking with horror.

"How...?"

I hugged him tightly, knowing it was too much for him to handle. "That's my story."

"Now I feel like absolute shit. While I was concerned about what food I would eat for dessert, you and the other children in that building were worried whether or not the food you would receive was poisoned- if you got fed at all."

I shrugged. "Yeah...we really did lead different childhoods."

He didn't say anything but we went back the next morning.

Lady Liliane apologized but I was more focused on the void.

"We'll practice going to yesterday," Lord Ledior said. "But to go back centuries will require lots of stamina, and you must not be distracted by anything. Otherwise, you'll be stuck there and die."

I could tell he was sad and I didn't speak of it.

I had heard rumors that his previous wife, Finral's mother, had traveled through the void and died the moment she got herself free from the void.

Hence why all exploration and research on the void was disbanded.

Letoile had her compass magic ready and guided Langris through.

She entered the void as well, with strict instructions to stick close to one of us.

"This world is dangerous," Ledior explained. "Stick to one of us spacial mages and you'll be fine."

I nodded to her and she gave me a grateful look as she knew that pairing up with Langris wouldn't be ideal as he really didn't like people, me being the only exception.

"Where are we?" Langris asked me.

"The caves," I said. "This is the tunnel that leads to the Spade kingdom."

"Who goes there?!" Ledior shouted when he saw a guy with vivid blue eyes and a hood on.

My eyes widened in recognition.

"Nacht?!"

The man nodded and pressed fingers to his lips, pointing to the tunnel. "I see you're also in the void. Good for you, Princess."

"Wait, isn't he the vice captain of the Black Bulls?"
Langris asked me. "How do you know him?"

"We met in realtime," Nacht said. "Shame you stole her, but whatever."

He disappeared into the shadows and reappeared later, pointing to me. "Only she can follow me."

"Absolutely not!"

I eyed Nacht up. "I can bring them with me."

"And how?"

"It's been a year since we last met, Nacht. I've grown stronger." My grimoire opened and a cloud of black smoke surrounded Letoile, Langris, Ledior, and I.

"Winter God Magic: Shadow of Hades."

I grabbed both Letoile and Langris's hands. "Hold on tight. Ledior, grab Nacht's hand. The shadows aren't merciful."

We traveled through the shadows quickly and Nacht pointed to a small alcove where we stepped out of the shadows.

He pointed down to the Spade Kingdom. "I spotted these fuckers yesterday, well technically today. They're going to attack the Diamond kingdom's poorer regions tomorrow."

My eyes widened and I nodded.

I snapped us out of the void and took off to my kingdom despite Ledior telling me to stay put.

Sure enough, Nacht was correct.

I saw a huge moving fortress approaching from
the mountains, magic seeping through the air as they destroyed the town.

And that was the moment I realized something very important.

Nacht could travel into the void as well as any other spacial mage.

But so could anyone with spacial magic.

Meaning Zenon knew exactly where we were.
