chapter 28

It was absolute chaos, was it weird she liked it?

It felt like her blank life was suddenly colored by these men, before she was only working and being the perfect daughter that she is. Doing everything to please everyone, especially her parents.

But now she was enjoying her life. Yes, it was messy but it was fun. She got to try things she couldn't do before because she was afraid she'd get judged.

She was always restricted because one wrong move and her parents' names would be dragged to the dirt. It happened once; it was embedded in her mind.

That was the time she was near graduating to be part of the military but she failed to fire a gun. People had dragged her name down and she received no comfort from her parents.

It was honestly heartbreaking for her. She worked so hard to be her parents' little perfect girl, and she got all praise but she made one mistake and it felt like she had failed her whole life.

So she promised she'll do better and be an architect instead, her mother was thrilled. Her mother was basically raising her to be an heir to her company.

But her mother wasn't going to completely surrender her company to her daughter, no. She was going to control Y/n to lead her company.

And Y/n knew that but she accepted it because it pleases her mother, she didn't want to be a disappointment. She wasn't going to let a mistake stain her name again.

So when she found herself having fun and laughing with the very men that she had promised to apprehend, she needed to remind herself; that these men are her enemy.

She needed to remember that Bonten needed to be captured. They were not her friends. She needed to finish what she started so her father would be proud of her for capturing the bad guys.

Y/n needed validity.

After all, she was raised that way.

She wiped the tears that formed from laughing too hard. "I'm sorry" She wheezing.

Kakucho made his way toward the girl. "Y/n don't laugh too hard, I don't want you passing out"

It was something that happened too often when they were kids, she would laugh too hard and she'll pass out from the lack of oxygen.

It was one of the most terrifying moments of Kakucho's childhood. Next to it was his parents dying in an accident.

"So Sanzu really drugged Rin?" Takeomi accidentally said.

Everyone glared at him except for Rindou who was still high, Mikey who couldn't care less, and Sanzu who was just smiling.

Y/n was done laughing now. "What?" She asked as she took the water Kakucho was handing over.

Takeomi couldn't come up with a great excuse. Good thing Mikey spoke up. "Y/n, I heard the fireworks are about to begin"

"Oh! Right, It almost slipped my mind" She looked at the clock by the wall. "We better head down now, uh, can someone dress Rin"

"What even happened to him?" Kakucho asked.

"Ran forced him to drink water by shoving the water bottle to Rindou's throat, then Rindou punched him because Ran got his clothes wet, Ran took it off to dry and then Rin cried and started hugging the mini-fridge" Y/n explained in one breath.

Kakucho stared at her.

"I'm just as confused as you are, don't ask me further questions" She raised her arms in defense.

It was really weird to watch Mikey talk more than usual, especially to a very talkative girl. Usually, he'd glare at them and he would shut them up.

But Mikey grew to like Y/n's voice, it was... comforting. It somewhat reminds him of his sister, somewhat.

"Did you like the food?" She asked hopefully. "I included a lot of your favorites, I hope it was accurate."

Mikey nodded. "Yes, I did"

"That's good to hear" She smiled. "For the drinks though, I didn't know what type you liked so I just chose the basic ones. Do you even drink alcohol..?"

The two continued to talk while the rest of Bonten followed behind. They re-entered the ballroom once again, and when they did, Y/n was immediately called by her mother.

Her expression almost instantly changed. She was still smiling, but there was something about it that changed, it seemed controlled rather than carefree.

"Please excuse me for a bit" She announced and left them.

"Y/n" It was her mother's tone whenever she was starting to be impatient.

"Give me a bit more time mom" Y/n hesitated to say the next words. "...I'll definitely go through with the plan.."

Her mother sighed. "If you wait a little longer they might catch on to what's happening" M/n squinted her eyes. "If you can't do it, I will"

Her mother caressed her cheek and left her standing alone. It was clear her mother never expected anything from her, Y/n was too hurt by this that she didn't even realize how odd her mother was acting.

Why would M/n be so impatient to get rid of Bonten?

Y/n can't think about the answer right now. She needs to clear her head and do the plan she created.

But why was it so hard to execute?

It was only dawning on her, if she were to continue with her plan, Kakucho would hate her. They've been friends since they were kids.

Kakucho did nothing wrong to her, he was actually the person who cared the most when she was hurt.

Actually, no one in Bonten did anything to hurt her, well except for Ran breaking her camera, but still. No one in Bonten had brought her harm.

And yet here she was; planning to kill them.

She was beginning to hesitate, why did she even begin such an outrageous plan? Killing a person? What a joke, then that wouldn't make her any better than Bonten.

And yet her mother didn't care if she became a murderer. M/n was even encouraging it by giving her a gun.

A hand then rested on her shoulder, she flinched and turned. It was Takeomi.

"Oh, is something wrong Takeomi?" She asked trying to act casual.

"It's weird to hear you call me by my name, what happened to the nicknames you gave me?" The man spoke. "Anyway, the fireworks were going to start, we're waiting for you"

She looked at him before glancing behind Takeomi. Y/n saw the rest of Bonten talking and laughing with each other, they even gave her a small wave.

Then she glanced to the other side where her mother stood far away looking at her with a stern look.

Somehow she felt safer with criminals than her own mother. Y/n smiled at Takeomi, "Alright, let's go" She wrapped her arm around Takeomi's. "Just in case your knees fail, I'll support you walk" She teased.

Instead of Takeomi's usual glare or playfully cussing at her. He smiled at the insult. "Then you better hold me tight or I might fall"
