Sam's POV:

April 20th, 2021

I managed to stay away from that monster all night long, he didn't really have much of a choice since Kobie was up almost all night crying, Dom tried comforting him but it just made him cry more. I know he misses Eddie and Ayden, I do too. I just pray that I will be able to see them again, I am holding onto hope, Kobie was keeping a tight hold on my finger as I cuddled up to him. We were laying in the bedroom since Dom slept on the couch, I guess it was because he didn't want to take a chance of me escaping through the door. There is a window in the bedroom that he knows about but it is very creaky so opening it would make it obvious of what was going on.

I looked at my watch and it was 7:10, I shivered knowing hell would soon awaken. All I could think of was my loving husband and how I hope he knows what has happened.

Eddie's POV:

Nic went over to my house to look at the security footage, I always forget about those damn cameras, they sent Athena the footage. Conrad caught up with us since we needed a medic if something were to happen since I wouldn't be allowed to give her treatment.

I was trying to hold onto hope but I was scared, Dominic is a psychopath and I don't know what he is truly capable of, he has already raped my wife and now he has abducted her and my son. She must be so scared right now.

The car came to a stop, Athena, Buck, Conrad, and I all got out of the car. We were at a gas station, there was an officer that was called from here about a suspicious-looking man with a woman and child but the officer never reported anything afterward. It was strange, this road is practically always empty, it is definitely a country road, to say the least.

"Good afternoon," The woman spoke.

"Hi there," Athena started, "I was informed that you called 9-1-1 after seeing a suspicious-looking man, could you tell me about that?" She asked showing the lady her badge.

"Of course, he had dark hair and fair skin, he's tall, the woman with him was shorter, blonde hair, an adorable baby-"

"I'm sorry to interrupt," I said grabbing my phone and showing her my lock screen which was a photo of Sam and the twins, "Is this her?"

"It is, the situation was so strange, I was ringing her up and commented on how cute her baby was, she told me that his name was 'Kobie' and I remembered that since it is my nephews name as well. She then made a comment about how he looked like his father with her eyes. Before she could even respond, a guy walked in and asked if she was ready to leave. She thanked me for my help but looked nervous, so I commented about how much he must love her because her ring was gorgeous. He put his arm around her and I immediately noticed he didn't have a ring on. I knew something was wrong, but I also noticed that baby looked nothing like him. Then they left. I'm sorry, I hope that helps even a little bit. I told the other officer the same thing last night."

"We haven't heard from him. Thank you for your help." Athena said and went to walk out but Buck looked at the cashier.

"My sister, did she look okay?"

"Physically, yes. She looked fine. Just scared, that's why I called 9-1-1."

"Thank you for doing that," I added before walking out and shaking my head. "They must have a large lead on us,"

"It can't be that bad," Conrad replied trying to calm my nerves.

"He's right, don't lose hope, she's a fighter and she will find a way out of this."

Not too far down the road, we found the dead officer, Dom shot him. He has been pronounced dead, I felt terrible for him, it wasn't his fault and he was just trying to help Sammy.

Athena called in an ambulance but knew we had to keep moving. We were starting to move into the countryside of California, I saw skid marks on the road about 40 miles from where we found the officer. They led down a dirt path. "There," Conrad called out.

"I think he's right, why would there be a need for skid marks, clearly no one is on this road ever," I added.

Athena turned and went a ways down before we found the car. I basically watched Buck jump out the window, I wasn't far behind him though, we both ran to the car and searched for anything at all, but there was nothing to be seen. "Hey guys," Conrad spoke as he walked further up.

Athena ran to his side, "Footprints, I guess your former friend isn't as smart as we thought,"

I took off running, following the footprints as far as they went. There were two different trails both having footprints, Evan and Athena went one way while Conrad and I went the other.

I stopped to catch my breath after a few miles. The footprints became nonexistent and I checked my watch, 7:34 AM.

I was about to stop when I heard a gunshot.

Conrad and I looked at each other before taking off again. The radio in my pocket went off, "Did you hear that, Diaz?"

"I heard it, we are running towards the source,"

"Copy that, proceed with caution,"

After a few moments we waited for more sound but there was nothing. "Conrad, if things go south, I can't ask you to risk your life for Sam and Kobie,"

"Who's asking? I know you would do the same for Nic. Sam and Nic are best friends, I need to do this,"

I smiled faintly and heard another gunshot followed by a woman's scream. My heart sank and we took off running again.

After a few seconds, it was silent again. Conrad and I walked a few more feet before I heard the faint sound of crying. Conrad started walking again and ran over to a small bush. "Eddie!"

I ran over to him and in his arms rested my dearest boy, Kobie. "Oh thank god, does he seem to be okay?"

"Yes, he seems fine,"

I sighed, "Okay," I grabbed my radio, "Athena, we found Kobie,"

"Good, I think we almost found Sam and Dominic, we are getting closer to the gunfire but it sounds like it is heading your way so be prepared, we found the house they were in. It is clear inside, we found Kobie's bag though."

"Got it,"

"I'm going to get him back to the car, okay? Be careful."

"You too, you still have your radio, right?"

"Yeah,"

"Make sure you use it if you need to,"

He nodded before swiftly walking towards the car. I took off running again, another gunshot was heard but this time it was much closer, I pushed myself harder and harder. Another gunshot followed by one last shot. The gun must be empty, there was a revolver shell found in the dead officer, and there were 5 shots that just went off. I kept running, "Eddie, we found Dominic, he is still alive and weaponless. Sam isn't with him though."

I didn't respond, I just kept running, I had to find her, maybe she was going to head back to where Kobie was. I turned around and started running back when I got knocked off my feet and heard a truly horrified scream. I shook my head as I looked up and saw her precious blue eyes. "Eddie?"

I pushed myself up and lifted her up with me, "Oh Sam, are you okay?"

She started crying, "I didn't think you would find me," She sobbed out.

"Of course I found you, it's okay,"

"I didn't give up," She cried out, the pain in her voice was killing me.

"I'm so proud of you, so so proud."

"But Kobie-"

"Conrad has him, it's okay, it's over now." I saw Sam's bicep was nicked with a bullet, I sighed, "You're going to be okay honey. I'm so sorry,"

"Is Ayden okay?"

"Yes, Bobby is watching over him, how did you escape?"

Sam's POV:

I couldn't do it, I knew that Dom was still asleep, I got up, took Kobie in my arms and shoved the window open, and jumped through, I got about 30 yards away when I heard him scream my name. That was when the first gunshot went off, I ran further and further and found a hiding spot for Kobie, I hoped he was okay and that he didn't shake too much. I kissed his forehead and set him down in the bush and started running again. Another gunshot went off and that one grazed my arm causing me to scream. I kept going though, pushing myself harder with each step I took. He was still behind me which meant Kobie was safe. He shot at me again and again. I knew there was only one bullet left, I managed to hide behind a tree without him knowing where I was. Dom walked right to my left with his back to me, I had a large log in my hand and I hit him over the head causing him to drop the gun. I picked it up and shot him, I didn't pay attention to where, I then took off running again to get back to Kobie. My adrenaline was racing as I slipped down a hill and crashed into something. I opened my eyes and they locked with brown ones. "Eddie?" I managed to squeak out.

An ambulance was called and I was taken to the hospital with Eddie and Kobie. Maddie and Evan brought Ayden in and I was able to be with my family again once I was discharged. Eddie told me that Nic cleaned up our house which brought me so much relief. She and Conrad were there when we got home. I was so happy to see them both. Nic isn't just my best friend, she is also like a sister to me. They were going to be staying with me since Eddie had to continue going to work so I wouldn't be alone ever.

Dom is in jail now, but that paranoid feeling just doesn't ever seem to want to disappear...

Hey guys, I hope you enjoyed it. Chapters will be put out at least every other week I promise. I'm trying to get them out sooner but I'm coming into midterm week in college. I apologize to those of you who haven't seen The Resident. It is a very good show and I recommend it to anyone, Nic and Conrad are here to stay along with their story now taking place in LA rather than Atlanta. Y'all I am not okay for so many reasons!

First, I'm okay because Eddie and Ana broke up!! Thank the lord! I'm sorry, I don't know why I hated her so much but I did. I don't know why.

Second, why did Maddie have to leave?! I'm so scared she is going to hurt herself, I don't want her to go. Chimney was so devastated :(((

Third, WHY IN THE FUCK DID THEY KILL NIC OFF IN THE RESIDENT?! That episode just broke a piece of me and is going to make for a truly heartbreaking chapter once we get there. Poor Conrad, we didn't even get to see them as a happy family they just killed her! For what?! I know she asked to be written off but it still hurts me so badly. It's always the 'What If' factor but I'm so sad :(((
