Twenty Four-Still One More Secret

“FUCK THEM ALL!” Henry shouts, punching the wall making jump. We just got back to the house from yesterday. “I CANT BELIEVE WE LET THEM GET AWAY AGAIN!”

“Dude, chill. Your freaking out Nora.” Bart hisses, patting me on the shoulder while I scowl.

“I’m not freaked out. Just worried.” I scowl. Clinton and Nell still didn’t come home yet, and we’re all getting nervous. Charles wraps his arms around my waist and leans his head on mine.

“I’m sure their fine. Clint’s a big boy, he can handle himself and Nell.” He says soothingly.

I sigh. “I hope your right.”

“We cant keep letting you and Charles run away. We need to catch them, or better yet, kill them. We have proof now on what their trying to do from the threat.”

I raise my hand in the air. “Question!”

Edward smiles lightly. “Yeah Nora?”

“How do vampires die?”

I could practically feel Charles roll his eyes. “Silly human. Your not allowed to know.”

“I’m not allowed to know you exist, but I do, I have vampires after my ass which isn’t suppose to happen, but I do, I’m not suppose to be here in the first place, but I am. I think I’m in enough trouble, that little secret will just add to the pile.” I list on my fingers.

“Sorry Nora. Not happening. What if we tell you and then you go behind our backs and try to kill us?” Henry teases.

I smirk. “Hey, I sent a guy to Antarctica. You don’t know what I’m capable of.”

Edward tilts his head back and laughs. “Nora, what the hell aren’t you capable of?”

I shrug. “Obviously getting a car. Instead, I got five vampires.”

“Five hot vampires.” Bart adds.

I nod in agreement. “Yes. Five hot vampires.” We all laugh a little.

Then Bart’s eyes light up and a grin slowly makes it’s way onto his face. “Nora?”

“Hmm?”

“Isn’t your birthday tomorrow?”

I almost choke on air. “Stalker much?!”

He busts out laughing. “Yeah I guess so. I kinda read it on your phone.” He grins sheepishly and I glare at him.

Henry grins. “So, what do you want?”

“Come again?” I frown.

“For your birthday. What do you want?”

My mouth pops open. “Guys, you’ve practically gotten me a whole freakin room. I don’t want anything.”

Edward rolls his eyes. “That doesn’t count. Do you want a star in the sky? Name an island after you? What?”

My eyes bulge out of their sockets. “Just how rich are you five?”

“Nora, sweetheart,” Charles starts in a fake New York accent, “our parents own the vampire world. We have more money than you could ever dream of.”

I sigh and pull out of Charles arms and sit on the top of the couch, then fall back, leaving my feet in the air. “I want a regular birthday. No presents, no cake, no nothing. I don’t even want you to mention my birthday tomorrow. Understand vampires?”

Bart sighs. “Fine Nora.”

I sit back up, looking at him in shock. “Just like that? No fight or complaining?”

He shakes his head. “Nope. Just for you Nora.”

“WE”RE HERE!” We hear Nell’s voice enter the room. We look over to see Nell and Clint out of breath.

“What the hell happened? Did you just run a marathon?”

Clinton grunts. “Technically. We go to a small vacant hotel right? But Bones finds us, so we had to escape out the back and they jacked our car! JACKED OUR FRIGGIN CAR. So I had to carry her,” He points to Nell, “All the way here. I had to run like 5 miles just to get here.”

I burst out laughing and fall back onto the couch, tears soaking my eyes. Clint scowls. “There was nothing funny about that Nora.”

“They jacked your car! How the hell do you let them do that? You’re an idiot vampire!” I laugh, clutching my side. He really is an idiot. He just scowls at me and marches into the other room, probably to get some water. I calm myself down and sit back up.

Nell skips over to me. “HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY GIRLIE!”

I groan. “Happy early birthday. Tomorrow I don’t want any cake, presents, nothing. I already told them.” I swat a hand at the boys. “It’s just another year saying-”

“-your one year closer to dieing. I know. You tell me that every year sis.” Nell finishes for me, rolling her eyes. She pinches my cheeks. “Cheer up! Lots of people celebrate their birthday. Boys, you may buy me very expensive things. Scratch that, you have to buy me very expensive things.” I pull away from her and glare.

“Nell, you already have too much shit. Who in the world would buy Lady Gaga’s tooth?”

She gasps. “Leave the tooth out of this lady! You’re the one who bought, like, 100 cans of whipped cream and decorated the principal’s house with it! You even got the football team in on it!”

“Nell!” I hiss. “He deserved it! He gave me detention for two weeks straight!”

“And how much detention did you get after that?” She says smugly.

“Five.” I mumble, kicking the air. “But that’s not the point.” I frown and think for a moment. “What is the point again?”

She frowns too. “I don’t remember.”

I shrug. “Me either.” That’s when I realize each boy has been watching us, holding back their laughter. I glare at them. “Care to share what’s so funny?”

“You two!” Edward laughs. “It’s very amusing to watch you two bicker over something you cant even remember what you were arguing over.” They all nod in agreement.

“Did you really paint the principal’s house with whipped cream?” Charles asks, his eyes twinkling with laughter.

I nod and grin proudly. “We also painted the vice principal’s house pink. Hot pink. It took him weeks to get that off.” I laugh to myself.

“Nora,” Henry laughs, “I would have loved to go to high school with you.”

I shrug. “I’m a loveable person.”

Bart laughs and slings an arm on my shoulder. “What else did you do?”

“Please.” Nell scoffs. “We all went on a field trip in senior year to an old famous stage that I forget the name of. We were suppose to take notes from the tour guide and stay with him the whole time, but Nora though differently. She somehow got onto the stage, which is against the rules, and she brought with her a radio. She flicked it on and blasted it to play the electric slide.” The boys bust out laughing.

I grin. “Nell, remember that time me and you got detention with that mean old bag? And I kept asking her annoying questions?”

Her eyes lighten up. “And then she finally cracked and let us go 25 minutes into detention? That was your world record!” She laughs.

Bart whistles. “You were a bad girl in high school.”

Nell rolls her eyes. “Very. Dated almost every boy in high school. Everybody was swooning over her, but she could care less. She didn’t even notice! She even had more boys swooning over her than me.”

I shrug. “All the boys in our school were douchebags. Except for the football team. They were my bros.”

Charles frowns. “Did you really have every boy in high school kissing your feet?”

Bart smirks. “Jealous Charles?” He doesn’t wait for an answer because he start’s singing. “Jealous Charles! Charles is a jealous boy! He’s-OOF!” Charles pushes him off the couch.

I giggle. “I guess so. I didn’t realize it at the time, though. I didn’t care, to be honest.” I give him a kiss on the cheek. “Only you Charles.” I yawn. “Time for bed for me. I’m exhausted.”

“What’s that feel like?” Bart frowns.

“Extremely tired.”

“What’s that feel like?”

“Really weary.”

“What’s that feel like?”

“Bart, shut the hell up.” I grumble slowly. He just chuckles. “Night guys.”

“Night Nora.”

Charles follows me upstairs and I dive under my covers, seeking the warmth. A couple seconds later, the lights are out and Charles’s arms are around me. “Charles, seriously, you don’t have to stay here all night.”

“I know I don’t have to. I want to. You look so cute when you sleep.” I smile at that and snuggle closer to him, then drift off into sleep.
