Thirteen-A Shock That Sends Shocks Throughout Me

I stop walking when I reach the stairs and hold my breath. Another crash. I curse silently, grabbing the nearest thing next to me, which happens to be an umbrella. I tip toe to the living room, and I peer inside.

Four guys that seem really evil, including Scar, are each in a mini battle with the brothers. Picture that, only they move in fast forward motion because of they’re ’abilities.’ Holy crap. Scar, the guy with brown curly hair and ice blue eyes, another guy with a five o’clock shadow and green eyes, a tall, muscular guy with brown hair, and a guy with red hair.

“Where’s Nora?” One guy, screams.

“I’m not telling you, you bastard!” Bart snaps, kicking him to the ground. Whoa. Bart never snaps. Or curses with venom in his words.

Scar smirks, punching Charles out of the way. I very badly wanted to go over there and see if he was ok, but that would ruin my plan. “She’s upstairs, like the weak human she is.”

“I’ll go get her!” Another guy with orange fire hair yells, in the middle of a wrestling match with Clinton.

“Don’t. Touch. Her.” Clinton snarls through his teeth, punching him. Clinton glances towards me, and I shake my head telling him to shut his trap and not say anything. He nods a little bit, and dodges a punch from the red haired guy.

I was about to move when a guy, who seemed like the serious leader guy, screamed, “Stop.” Everybody dropped what they were doing, that’s how tense his voice was. I even held my breath. He smirks. “Nora’s here.”

I hold in a gasp, and turn to run, but the fire hair guy and the serious dude are already behind me, holding on to each of my arms. “Let go!” I scream while I try, and fail, to pry their hold on me.

“Nora!” Charles cries, heading towards me.

“Take one more step and I’ll kill her.” Serious guy growls, making him stop in his tracks.

Red hair guy looks down at me. “Your hot.” Charles growls at his comment, but I ignore him.

“Rot in hell, bastard.” I snarl with venom, but he just chuckles.

“Scar, Tony, come.” Scar and the guy with a five o’clock shadow comes next to him. My eyes flicker towards each brother, who seem angry, worried, and pain all at the same time. Clinton, on three, attack. I send him a mental note. He catches it and nods. I grip the umbrella tighter.

One.

I glance at the two guys who have my arms.

Two.

I take a deep breath.

Three.

I swing my arms up, startling them, and bash the umbrella over the red guy’s head, causing it to crack the umbrella in half. The brothers charge after I do that, punching everything in sight. “Charles, get Nora out of here, NOW.” I hear Clinton whisper over to Charles, who nods. I duck from Tony who tried to grab me, and then Charles picks me up, hoists me over his shoulder, and in two seconds were in his car.

“Whoa.” I breathe, buckling my seatbelt. “I’m still not use to that.”

He tries to smile, but it comes out more of a grimace. He speeds down out of the street, onto the highway. “I thought I told you to stay in your room.”

I grimace. “Well, you did see what happened when you left me the first time, and I didn’t need a repeat of that.” I look over my shoulder to see if any cars are following us. “You don’t think they’ll follow us, right?”

He does a sigh that’s full of tiredness. “My brothers will hold them off as much as possible. After that, they’re probably gonna search the whole state. They have hook ups and rewards to make people search for you.”

A shiver goes down my spine. Now I know what it feels like to be America’s Most Wanted. Only it’s Vampire’s Most Wanted. “Are you ok? I mean, I saw the punch to the face one of those guys gave you back there.”

He smirks, his eyes flickering to mine. “I’ve had worst than that, Nora.” I nod, smiling softly. “I still don’t see how a small human like you could cause all this trouble.”

I chuckle softly. “What can I say? I’m a trouble magnet.”

“That’s not all.” He mutters, turning into another lane. What does that mean?

“Where are we going?” I try to change the subject.

“A hotel. We cant stay back there unless you want to die.”

I nod, resting my head on the cool glass window. If they touch my sister, I swear they’ll all be dead. This feels like I’m in a horror movie, the ones I would watch. Only I’m the star who’s gonna die in the end. I shake my head mentally. No. I’m not going to die.

Closing my eyes, I drift off into a sleep, where thankfully, no one is chasing after me.

“Nora? Are you up yet? I have some good news and some bad news.” I hear a familiar voice chuckle.

“NELL! Shut the god damn radio off! They’re talking about the news again!” I shout, burying my face into the pillows. I hear a chuckle, and I gasp, sitting upward with my eyes wide open. Everything rushes back into me, all at once. My eyes focus and I see that I’m in a bed, in a hotel room. I think.

I turn to see Charles, in a wife beater and jeans, rolled out onto the bed, who I apparently was sleeping on. Great. “Morning Sleeping Beauty.”

I groan, closing my eyes tight. “How did I get in here?”

“Well,” He starts in amusement, “You fell asleep in the car, so I had to physically carry you inside. It’s six in the morning.”

I gasp again, opening my wide eyes. “I slept through the whole night? You could have woken me up!” I slap his arm, but he just smirks in amusement.

“Do you want to hear the news? Or do you want Nell to turn off the radio?” My cheeks flush to a blush, making me look down.

“Sorry. It’s a habit. Nell usually blasts the radio in the morning to wake me up.” I explain while he chuckles, lifting my head up.

“Sometimes your just to cute, Nora.” He says quietly. “Anyways,” He starts in a louder voice, “Good news or bad news first?”

I think for a moment. “Bad. Then the good news will cheer me up.”

“Well, the bad news is those guys are still looking for you, but they’re smart enough not to attack our house anymore.” Our? “And the good news is Clint thinks he knows why they’re after you.”

My eyes brighten at this. “Really? That’s good!” I smile.

“That’s why its called the good news.” He rolls his eyes.

I frown. “Did you bring any clothes? My hair and makeup is probably a hot mess.” I mumble, running my fingers through my bed hair. His hands grab my wrists.

“You look fine. Better than fine.” He murmurs, coming so close our noses are touching. I gasp a little at our closeness, and his eyes flicker to my lips. His lips come so close to mine, and my eyes flicker close.

But nothing happens.

My eyes open to see Charles sitting back, resting his head on the bed and flicking through the channels as if that never happened. What? I thought he was going to kiss me…

“Come on. We have to go.” His voice now as thick as butter. What just happened?

“Um…O-Whoa!” He abruptly lifts me off the bed, dragging me outside of the room, and into the car. I glare at him. “You didn’t even give me time to get my shoes!” I point down to my feet, which are bare.

“I’ll buy you new ones.” He starts the car but I grab the keys before he can pull out. He glares at me.

“What is your problem?” I grit my teeth. “First your all happy, and now your acting like an asshole! It’s like you have two different personalities! I cant keep up with you! I want some answers. Now. Is it me? Do you hate me that bad-” I got cut off by his lips smashing down onto mine. Shocked, I sit there lifelessly while his fireworks for lips send tingles throughout me. He pulls back, ripping the keys from my hands.

“I don’t hate you.” He mumbles, starting the car again. I sit there, my eyes wide and my lips swollen. I am officially confused. The car ride is silently awkward, not even music can make this less awkward.

As soon as the car parks in front of the house, I go to grab the handle of the car, but it locks. My eyebrows furrow together and I unlock it, but it locks again. I try one more time but it locks again.

I grunt and turn towards Charles but before I can get a word in his lips connect with mine again, sending fire shooting through me. This kiss is more gentle, soothing. Before I get the chance to respond he pulls back, looking me in the eye. “I just needed one more kiss.” He murmured, then exited the car, leaving me there, confused as hell.

Confused. As. Hell.
