"You can't."

"It's you who can't."

"You."

"You."

Bhagwan Parshuram heard the fight and sighed in annoyance, these two students were his favorites but they always found ways to exasperate him.

"What is this fight about?" He asked his two disciples as he sat on the rock nearby.

"He can't impress Mahakal."

"She can't impress Mahakali." Both of them said together and then again started the word war, once again, to Guru deva's utmost dismay.

"Why don't you try to impress them and see the result?" Parshuram asked his ten- year- old students.

"But what about our education?" Ananya asked.

"You need to do this thing in one month." Gurudeva Parshuram shrugged.
"At least, I will get a break from you two for that one month." He added to himself, softly.

"Where can we do this?" Karn asked, he was determined to prove Ananya wrong.

"Wherever you think is an appropriate place." Parshuram shrugs.

It has been 10 days since the kids started with their try to impressing the two deities. They were confident of what they were doing, knowing that they had such dedication in themselves that they could impress them.

They were praying to their respective gods, with all their heart and reciting the shlokas (Chants) with love from bottom of their heart. Their sweet child- like voice constantly chanting bought attention of various sages. But their visit didn't anyhow disturb the either of the kids.

The kids were to lost in their devotion for their kids to pay any attention to their visitors. They had lost themselves in the Bhakti of their idols.

20 days have passed and the kids were still lost in the devotion. They were in no mood to stop and it was not because they had to prove the other wrong but they had lost themselves in the devotion and now it had turn in to a simple wish to show their God their love and care.

Suddenly on the twenty first day of the kids praying, they were stopped from chanting by two sweet voices. "Open your eyes, kids."

And there in front of the two kids were a couple, a man and a woman.

The man was dressed in tiger skin and rudraksha adorned his body, while a snake was wrapped around his neck. His hair was tied in half bun that was a top his head, a crescent moon along it. His face was a painting of calm, that the kids had never seen before. His eyes had a shine in them, a small peaceful smile bejewelled his face. While his third eye, directly between his forehead was shut.
In his right hand was a Trishul that had a Damru tied around it.

The second person, the lady, had a bluish- black body. A large Chudamani sat atop her head as her open hair blew around. Red paint like sindor was spread from her half forehead to nose end, an eye in middle of her head just like the man beside her. Her two eyes were sharp and deep but the twinkle in it, which softened it. Large ear rings and nose pin along with various necklaces adorned her. She was wearing a waist chain made of hands and a necklace made of heads. Wide anklets tinkled in her red Alta enveloped feet.
In her red Alta filled right hand was a Khadga.

(A/N- I know this is Pooja Sharma, but truth to be told. I could not find any other image of Kali. So, sorry.)

Standing in front of the two kids were Mahakal and Mahakali.

"Pranam! Mahakal, Mahakali!" The two kids greet, chorusing together.

"Pranipatra Kids!" The couple greets with a smile.

The ten- year- old's were gazing at the couple in front of them with wide eyes, they were surprised to be in their presence. What to do? Was a simple question roaming in their mind.

The couple in front of them smiled, on reading the thoughts. The couple had to come here because of the pure heart these two kids had. Their prayers were pure and invoked divinity. So, how could they not appear hear? Ek sacche bhakt ki pukar hamesha sunte Hain, bhagwan.

(A real devotes call is always answered for, by Gods.)

And then these two kids are practically angel, in human forms. Why would they not listen to these kids?

"Say Kids why did you call for us?" Mahakal asks.

"Mahadev, we were simply trying to prove each other wrong." Karn begins.

"But in under three days, the worship towards each of you for both of us, to prove the other wrong turned in to the need to worship you." Ananya continued from where Karn left off.

"It is good to know that you both felt that way." Mahakali smiles. "But now that we are here, we need to bless you both."

The two children exchange looks. What should they do now?

"Devi Kali, maybe what I am going to ask for turns out weird but Karn never had a mother figure in his life and I somehow go with that too. So, would it would strange if ask for a mother?" Ananya questioned.

Karn's head snapped towards his friend. He knew that Ananya loved him, he knew that she cared for him but to ask something from the goddess for him. He never expected it. But what should he ask for?

"You are very thoughtful, you asked for something that benefitted your friend more than you." Devi Kali smiled. "I would give that boon to you but ......"

The children patiently wait looking at the divine couple with big eye.

"But that would be cheating."

"How can a boon given by you, Devi Kali, be cheating?" Karn questioned.

"Cheating as in we would be meddling with destiny." Mahakal cleared it up. "We cannot play with whatever is in your fate."

"So, can you both .... Teach us something we lack or should know?" Karn asked his face lighting up.

"If that is what you want then," Mahakal raised his hand towards the two kids. "Tuatha Astu."

"What about you dear Ananya?" Devi Kali asked.

"I ... I" Ananya faltered. She did not know what to ask for, she did not need anything. And neither did Karn, at this point of time.

Reading her mind Mahakali and Mahakal smiled. These kid were innocent but intelligent. Knew their boundaries but fought to head out of it.

"Today is Mahalya, I bless you Ananya, the day you are in need of a boon, I will grant you one. All you have to do is calmly remember me." Mahakali eased her devotee's mind. "Because the first blessing works on both of you. Even you Karn can ask for the blessing that I have to give."

"Thank you, Devi, Prabhu." The two kids joined their hands in respect and bowed their head.

"Live Long!" The couple bless before vanishing in thin air. The only proof of them being there was the red hibiscus in Ananya's hand and the Bel Patra in Karn's hand.

Both of them exchanged looks of awe before running off to rant to their Gurudeva about it.

What they both missed was a person standing there listening to the whole ordeal. The person had been around since a few days now, watching the kids.
