Chapter 2

"Thorium. Thorium wake up!" Amazon yelled, shaking her sons shoulder.

"Yo Thor! Breakfast is ready!" Katina yelled after. He shot up with a yelp, causing his hammock to flip over sending him the ground. He grunted  as he crashed on his side. "You good?"

"Yep. Lucky the grass was here to break my fall," He grumbled sarcastically.

"Eh, it could've been worse. You could've fallen from the top of the tree instead of the bottom," Katina chirped. He growled slightly. "What? It's true, I mean am I wrong about that?"

Amazon sighed as she glided down in front of her son, with Katina on her back. The small human hopped off the RainWings back and marched up to where his head was and looked at his snout. "Sorry, for waking you up so early Thorium, but it seemed like you were having another nightmare," Amazon purred.

"It's ok, mom. Besides you were kind of right about the whole nightmare thing," he replied, rolling from his back to stand.

"Is it the same one where that one dragon is encased in some sort of crystal and then theres a deer a wolf and a panda bear made of stars saying "the queen will return" dream?" Katina questioned in a single breath, doing her best impression of a scary, deep, voice. Thorium nodded. "Again? Yeesh. you my good friend need to invest in a dreamcather."

Thorium rolled his eyes and stretched his wings out. He flapped them a couple of times before closing them loosely at his sides. "I'm gonna go draw, call out if you need anything," he grumbled, turning to leave only to be stopped by Amazon.

"Thorium. Before you draw I need you to go scout the perimeter, you know what to do," she stated seriously and almost royaly.

"Yes mom. Are you sure you aren't a queen or a princess?" he asked jokingly. She chuckled slightly.

"Seriously. Go scout. Take Katina with you."

Katina perked up immedeatly. "Scouting mission you say? I'll grab my guitar!"

   "I do say."

"I'll get ready," Thorium sighed, sluggishly trotting away. "Hey Kat! Get Soldier, Poet, King while you're at it!"

"Deal!" she yelled from a human sized hollow in the uppermost part of the willow.

Once they gathered up all that they needed they headed for the eastern wall of leaves. "You two be careful, be back before dusk, watch out for hunters, and... I'm rambling on about things you already know," Amazon stated.

"We'll be fine Amazon. I'll make sure Thor doesn't become a hand bag," Katina responded, her guitar strapped to her back like a sword.  Thorium snorted at her. "What? I'm not wrong."

The two of them left after a few minutes of bickering. They started with the eastern territory of the sanctuary. "Well this side is clear. No injured beasts anywhere," Kat grumbled, sitting back on Thorium's back. "Wanna sing?" Thorium nodded. Katina moved her guitar from her back to her front, tuning it. She dug around in her bag to find pieces of scroll with notes on it for Soldier, Poet, King. She cleared her throat.

There will come a soldier
Who carries a mighty sword
He will tear your city down, o lei o lai o lord
O lei, o lai, o lei, o lord
He will tear your city down, o lei o lai o lord

There will come a poet
Whose weapon is his word
He will slay you with his tongue, o lei o lai o lord
O lei, o lai, o lei, o lord
He will slay you with his tongue, o lei o lai o lord

There will come a ruler
Whose brow is laid in thorn
Smeared with oil like Davids boy, o lei o lai o lord
O lei, o lai, o lei, o lord
Smeared  with oil like Davids boy, o lei o lai o lord

O lei, o lai, o lei, o lord
He will tear your city down, o lei o lai!

The two laughed as they moved to the last sector of the territory.  A strangled roar rang out, echoing off the trees. They fell silent. "Wasn't me," Katina remarked. Thorium growled slightly before it rang out a second time.

"Let's go find out what that is. Hopefully it's not as bad as it sounds," Thorium responded, running in the direction the roar came from.

The roar was coming from a NightWing with a pale silver underbelly and neon green eyes who had a chunk of the left side of his neck missing. He roared a third time, looking at the pair with desperation. "We gotta get him back to Amazon. Now. I'll go let her know we're bringing him in," Katina stated seriously, before leaping into the trees and running to the great willow.

Thorium raced over to the injured dragon. "Hey. I'm Thorium. Can you tell me your name?" He spoke softly as to not alert him. The NightWing said nothing. "Hang on, I'm going to put you on my back, just so I can get you to help."

He dug his head underneath the NightWings neck to get it onto his back. He got his back under the NightWings side and got him to a point where he wouldn't slide off. He ran towards the great willow. Towards his mother. Towards help.
