Chapter 9: Long Lost What?

Charlotte's POV

"So what is it you wanted to tell me?" I asked sitting myself on the couch across from my mom and Sam.

"Well, okay this might be a lot to take in.." Sam began.

"But your father is trying to get in touch with you again," my mom finished.

"What? Why is he trying to find me?" I asked standing up in anger.

"Please sit down Charlotte, there's more," my mom said.

"Fine, what could possibly be worse," I sighed sitting back down.

"Um...your father also wanted to tell you that he's inviting you to your brother's 20th birthday party," my mom said.

"My what?" I asked.

"Your brother," Sam repeated.

"I think you guys are confused, I've been an only child all my life," I said shaking my head.

"No you haven't, you've had a brother since day one, it's just your father took Jason with him when he left us, I never thought it was really important for you to know about him and every time I tried, I didn't have the courage to," my mom explained. "I'd prefer it if you didn't go see him though, he's too involved with your father.''

"So I'm not allowed to meet my brother that I didn't know about until today?!" I asked shocked at what my mom had just requested of me.

"Please just don't go see him," my mom pleaded.

"Yeah whatever," I grumbled running upstairs to my room.

I slammed my door shut and locked the door before opening my window and sliding out onto the garage. I jumped off of the garage and hopped the fence to Luke's yard, luckily he opened his door and didn't ask any questions when I stormed inside and to his living room couch.

"What's wrong?" Luke asked sitting down next to me.

"My dad."

"What about him....?"

"He's been trying to rescue me."

"Why is that so bad?"

"Because I don't forgive him for leaving, but there's more, I have a brother."

"You what?!"

"I know, I know, it's just a much a shock to me too," I sighed running a hand through my wavy hair. I told Luke everything that my mom and Sam told me, including that I couldn't meet my brother. "I have to meet him."

"What? No, Char you can't, your mom said no," Luke argued.

"I know she did but I have to meet him Luke, he's my brother for god sakes," I defended.

"So you're actually going to go see him?" Luke asked.

"Yes," I said. "And I'd really appreciate if you came with me for moral support."

"When do you plan on going?'' Luke asked.

"Sunday, that's Jason's 20th birthday," I said.

"So you'll come over then go?" Luke asked.

"Yes," I confirmed.

*Sunday*

"Where are you going?" My mom asked crossing her arms over her chest.

"Luke's," I said.

"Okay, be back before ten," My mom said.

"Will do, bye mum," I said huryying out the door and into Luke's car.

"How'd you get out so quickly?" Luke questioned. "I had to answer avoer 20 questions that my mom asked!"

"I don't know actually, I just told her I was going to your house," I shrugged.

"Okay, well what's the address for the party?" Luke asked.

I gave Luke the address then we began our search for my brother's flat.

"I think this is it," Luke said pointing to the tall apartment building in front of us.

"Let's go then," I said pulling him inside. We went all the way up to the 7th floor until we finally found the apartment in the address my mother had gotten from my dad.

"Hello?" The tall young man said after opening his apartment door.

"Jason?" I squeaked.

"Yeah?" Jason replied skeptically. "Why? Who are you?"

"I'm your sister," I said, Luke squeezing my hand tighter for support.

"Charlotte?" Jason's eyes widened as he spoke. "Is that really you?"

"Yeah," I nodded.

"Oh my god, Charlotte," Jason gasped pulling me into a bone-crushing hug. "You don't know how long I've waited to meet you."

"You knew about me?" I asked when Jason let go of me.

"Of course," Jason said. "Didn't you?"

I slowly shook me head, receiving a 'oh' from Jason.

"I actually just found out about you yesterday," I said. "Happy birthday."

"Thanks, so mom never even mentioned me?" Jason asked, looking pretty hurt.

"Never, I'm really sorry, Jason, if I knew earlier I would've come to see you sooner," I said.

"It's fine....who's this?" Jason asked turning his gaze to Luke. "Is he your boyfriend?"

"No, he isn't my boyfriend, he's my best friend," I said.

"I'm Luke," Luke said putting his hand out for Jason to shake.

"You two are really close right?" Jason asked.

"Yes, we've been friends for really long," I said.

"Well you two look really good together," Jason said making me flinch since I already had Michael.

"We have to go now, but can I get your number so we can talk and meet up again?" I asked.

"Sure," Jason said taking my hpone from me and making acontact for himself, me doing the same.

"Bye Jason," I said hugging him again.

"Bye Charlotte," Jason waved goodbye. "Bye Luke."

"Bye!"
