79 // Lesego // Tuned In

I gagged, my body shivering in tune as I swallowed the remedy.

Abigail scoffed and rolled her eyes. "You are such a white girl," she teased.

I glared at her. It was easy for her to say, she'd been drinking these herbs from a young age. "It is bitter," I said.

"You think that's the worst?" She raised a questioning eyebrow. "Come on, drink up. You should probably go before Bridgette returns or someone else notices that you are here."

I felt my spirit sadden. I didn't want to go back to that house, but I had no choice.

"She's ruining my life at every turn she gets." I gulped. "Now Clay wants nothing to do with me. I just want my life back, you know, but how do I go back to something that wasn't even real?" The pitiful look in Abigail's eyes got me tearing up. "My entire life was a lie, Abby. And after discovering everything, I felt like Clay was the only real deal in my life, but now she's taken him from me."

"I'm sorry. Trust me, I know how you feel."

"How do we get rid of her without killing her? She's very powerful, she was able to paralyze me without even trying."

"What? When did this happen, and why are you only telling me now?" She asked, bewildered.

"Since coming back I've been having these..." I waved my hands, trying figure a better way to explain the situation to her. "Visions," I blurted, and she frowned. "More like flashbacks. Before I was arrested, my mother went out to drink one night, and the next morning I woke up with cuts on my wrists and ankles. My mother tried to convince your husband that someone had broken into the house and attacked me. The strangest thing was that I couldn't remember anything." I sighed tiredly, slowly massaging my now aching head.

It was as if I was back in that same space when I was still in the dark; I spent hours and hours craning my head, trying to remember what happened that night, and it was the same thing every day for the last few months until I had that vision.

"And you didn't remember anything until you were shown that vision?" I nodded, and she smiled brightly.

I frowned at her. "I just told you something serious and you are smiling."

She nodded, grinning like an idiot.  "Yes!" She shouted at the top of her lungs and laughed. "Don't you realize what this means?"

"That my life is in danger?" I suggested ridiculously.

"No, it means that the ancestors are with you!" She gushed as if I'd just told her that I got a new boyfriend.

I sighed. "Abigail, can we get serious here?"

"Okay, okay, I'm sorry!" She grinned mischievously and put her hands forward. "Take my hands," she instructed, her tone suddenly serious. "Take my hands."

We were currently seated facing each other on the three-seater couch in Bridgette's lounge.

For the first time since I arrived, I noticed some matching beads on both her ankles and wrists, and a similar necklace around her neck. It just brought out her complexion and enhanced her strength.

I was sitting with one foot on the floor and the other on the couch, so I mimicked her actions and sat Indian style, and then placed my palms on hers.

She gripped my hands gently and closed her eyes.

For a moment everything was fine, and it was as if she was simply meditating, and before I knew what was happening, we were both thrown into my vision.

Everything happened so fast, the next thing, Abigail broke contact and moved away from me.

"Uhm...I think you should leave," she said.

What? "Are you kicking me out?" I asked in shock.

She looked freaked out. "Just go, please!" She pulled me up from the couch and ushered me out of the house.

"Abigail, you are freaking me out, what did you see?"

"Just do me one favour, stay in your house; don't ever go out to meet anyone."

"But I have to meet with Sihle."

She groaned. "I will meet with Sihle and tell you how it goes," she said before shutting the door in my face.
