Chapter Three

You could practically hear Calilmal's knees knocking together as you both stood before King Thranduil. His icy blue eyes gazed down from his throne and lingered on you for a moment. You noticed the slight upturn of his lips before a scowl replaced it. "You have trespassed in my realm," he said simply. When neither of you said anything, he stood and walked down the steps leading to the throne. Each step was deliberate and graceful, his silvery hair swaying softly with every step. It took everything in you not to stare at the regal elf making his way down to you. You weren't as afraid as Calilmal was. No, you were curious.

Thranduil ducked down so his face was level with your friend's. Calilmal was sweating profusely and he refused to meet Thranduil's sharp glare. "You have also injured a few of my guards, although I cannot imagine how." Calilmal looked to you, praying that you'd say something, anything to get you both out of this mess. You said something alright, but it wasn't what your friend hoped. "I merely gave one a swollen eye. It's not as if I broke a bone." As soon as the words were out of your mouth, you regretted it. "Take them!" the king shouted in Elvish.

Two guards grabbed you and two grabbed Calilmal. The one you gave a black eye gripped your arm a little tighter than necessary as they lead you from the throne room. Soon, you were thrown into a cell in the dungeons with Calilmal. "You couldn't have said something more productive? Perhaps something along the lines of 'I beg your forgiveness King Thranduil'?" your friend practically spat at you. He wasn't really mad. He was upset about your current situation, but he could never be mad at you. You glared at him.

In truth, your sarcasm had gotten you in trouble more often than not. "Goheno nin, mellon," you asked. You sat down next to him on the cold stone bench. Calilmal sighed and glanced back at you. "You're forgiven, Y/N." You rested your head on his shoulder and took in your surroundings. This is not how you expected your day to end. How were you going to get out of this mess and home to your father? "Calilmal, I promise I will find a way to get him to release you. Do you believe that?" Calilmal nodded. He trusted you with his life.

Calilmal kissed the top of your head. You smiled slightly and snuggled closer to him. His presence was comforting to you because, as much as you tried to reassure him, you were truly worried. You had no idea how long the king would choose to keep the two of you here. What would your father say when he came home and saw you were gone? What would he think when he learned that Calilmal was gone as well? It would break his heart.

"Whatare you thinking about, Y/N?" Calilmal's voice broke through yourthoughts. You picked your head up. "Our families. They will be devastatedwhen the discover we are gone," you admitted. You couldn't lie to himanyway. He was always able to tell when you tried. "You know Cellyn willlook under every rock for you..." You scowled at the thought of Calilmal'sbrother, making your friend laugh. Calilmal felt the same way about hisbrother. The two really were night and day. "I know he will look for youthough." You sighed and placed your head back on his shoulder. "Ihope someone does at least."
