Chapter Four

Genyc's POV

Genyc ran his hands over his tired face. Two weeks. He'd been home for two weeks and there was no sign of you. He had asked everyone in town if they had seen you. They all assured him that they hadn't, except for Cellyn. Cellyn told him at once that he had seen you riding out of the village with his brother, who was also missing. Genyc did not believe it when Cellyn told him that he believed you had run away with Calilmal. "She would not leave me this way," Genyc explained. He knew that you would have least left him a note saying where you had gone or at least why. No, deep down your father knew something had happened to you only he did not know what.

Your POV

You did not know how long you and Calilmal had been in the dungeon, but you were now face to face with the Elvenking once again. Your arms were crossed over your chest and Calilmal was next you , not nearly as shaky as last time. The king was lounging across his throne, legs crossed and one arm draped over the back. Thranduil's piercing gaze rested on you as you glared up at him. "I see your time in the dungeons has done nothing to improve your attitude," his voice echoed through the throne room. "We have done nothing wrong, My King. Why are you keeping us here?!" Calilmal finally spoke up, surprising both you and Thranduil.

"Nothing wrong? You injured a few of my guards and you lead the spiders closer to my kingdom than they should be, placing my people in danger! I dare say you have indeed done wrong!" Thranduil bellowed as he stood from his leisurely pose on his throne. The sudden change in his demeanor made both of you flinch. In what seemed like mere seconds, Thranduil was once again in Calilmal's face. "Stop! It wasn't his fault. I was the one who decided to come into the forest. I injured your guards!" you cried, causing Thranduil to turn his attention back to you.

"Your lover is willing to risk her life for you," Thranduil said softly to Calilmal. His anger had dissipated as quickly as soon as it came. You had to place your hand over your mouth to keep from laughing. Calilmal didn't bother to hide his as he threw his head back and chuckled deeply. "My lover? I love Y/N, certainly, but she is most definitely not my lover. I do not fancy women, at least not the way most men seem to," he told the now confused Elvenking. You couldn't hold back your laughter anymore. "Enough!"

You stopped laughing abruptly. It wasn't so much that he frightened you, but when he was angry, you saw a passion behind his eyes that was not normally visible. It intrigued you. "Better. Now, what shall I do with two trespassers that seem intent on mocking my every word?" the king asked as he made his way back up to his throne. "Please," you started and Thranduil peered back down at you, the coldness in his eyes returning. "Please let Calilmal go. He has a family that I am certain misses him dearly. I was the one responsible for everything that happened in the forest. Calilmal merely followed me to keep me safe," you were begging, you knew but you desperately wanted your friend to be safe again.

Thranduil said nothing as he repositioned himself on his throne without taking his eyes off you. "Considering your circumstances, I would say he did not succeed," he finally replied. He took a deep breath and his eyes shifted between the two of you for a moment as though he were debating something. "I will release the boy if you remain here with me. I find your presence intriguing." You blinked rapidly a few times, but answered nearly immediately, "Done." A smirk made its way onto Thranduil's face before he nodded to two guards who escorted Calilmal away. You watched as they practically dragged your friend from the throne room and the tears fell from both of your eyes.
