You shouldn't have mentioned it. The minute you said you haven't had a birthday party in a few years, Dave started planning something. You could tell. He was being secretive, and was talking to Jeremy way more than he usually did. So, if Jeremy is also in on this, you've got problems. You didn't know exactly what they were going to do, and that scared you even more.

"You're trying to tell me that Dave prepared this party? And not because you made him do it?" You asked Jeremy.

"Yep. Maybe he woke up happy today?" Jeremy replied. You chuckled. You, Phil, and Jeremy walked into the room. If someone told you Dave did this, you would laugh in their face.

"Great work on setting up Mr. Miller! I think this is one of the best prepared birthday parties I've seen!" Mr. Guy complimented Dave. He looked back at the three of us. You could see something was wrong, because he was doing the same nervous smile you see all the time.

"B-Birthday? Oh... heh, yeah, of course. Birthday party. Kids," Dave muttered, dragging out the last word. Jeremy smiled, as Dave glared at him. "I, uh, just remembered! This punch, yes, this punch is spoiled!"

"How can punch be spoiled if you just poured it? Let me see that," Phil demanded. Dave moved the punch away from him.

"Dave, it can't be that bad."

"Yeah! Punch can't be spoiled! Let me have some!" Jeremy said. Dave mumbled, glaring at Jeremy. You stepped closer, going to take the punch away from Dave. But, he looked into the large bowl and started to chug it. You and Jeremy held in laughter, turning away from the scene. Phil yelled, and hit the punch bowl away from Dave. The rest of the punch he didn't drink went all over the floor. You thankfully didn't get any on you, but you couldn't say the same for Phil and Dave.

You went out of the room to grab a mop. Once you grabbed it, you saw punch-covered Dave running past. You went back into the room and saw Jeremy trying to entertain the children. Phil looked like he was going to set the place on fire, so you avoided saying anything. You silently mopped the punch off the floor.

Or, you tried to. Dave walked back in with Freddy. "Is there a birthday boy in need?"

"Howdy, kids! I hope you-" Freddy was cut off by both him and Dave falling on the punch.

"...I'll go start up Bonnie."

Jeremy left the room, and Phil stepped out trying to recollect himself. "This was quite the party you threw, Dave," You joked. You reached for Dave's hand and pulled him up. He put his head on your shoulder. "Are you okay?"

"Mhm, I'm doin' just fine," Dave pulled away from your shoulder. Must've been a hard fall.

.............................................

You walked out of Freddy's with Dave on your side. He said he lived only a few minutes away, and you didn't want him throwing up in your vehicle. So, you decided to walk him home. You didn't trust him to walk by himself.

"Okay, Dave, one step at a time. I'm going to get you home, alright?" You told him. Dave smiled.

"Alright, darlin'," Dave said. Even drunk he calls you that? Great. You see Joan arrive in the parking lot. The two of you make eye contact.

"Joan, please don't ask."

You sigh, still practically carrying Dave. "God, you're such a pain. Are you even going to be at work tomorrow?" You ask. It'll be a boring day if he isn't there.

Dave laughs. "Shit, (Y/N), as if I'll need to... it's not like anybody comes to the pizzeria..."

"That's not true, but sure. I know what you mean."

You both don't say anything. Your footsteps fill the silence. Dave looks down at the sidewalk.

"Are ya mad at me?"

"No, of course not. Phil, maybe. But me? No. Why?"

Dave looks at you. "You're the only person I care for in this world, and I, uh, don't want you to leave me, I guess. Just, I know I'm a handful, uh, but don't.. nevermind."

You stop walking and turn to Dave. You hold his shoulders, making sure he doesn't fall over again. "I won't leave you, Dave. It's true, you're a handful, and you're annoying. But, it makes you yourself. I wouldn't be friends with you if you were any other way."

Dave smiles happily, and wraps his arms around you. You could feel your face heat up, having him so close to you. You wondered if this is just drunk Dave talking, and if he would even remember this tomorrow. You would like him to, but that decision isn't in your control.

"The party was meant fer you, y'know..." Dave mumbled. You smile, proving your theory that he was planning something. "I went out and picked up the punch and vodka and everything else. I wanted ya to have a nice birthday party, even if it wasn't on your birthday. It was gonna be a blast."

"Thank you, Dave. It was still an amazing day."

"Good. Now, uh, I'm just gonna rest my eyes."

Dave closed his eyes, and depended on you to get him back home. You walked into the Walmart parking lot.

"Dave, we're almost there."

"Already? That seemed shorter than usual," Dave stood back up again, still needing your support.

"Are you feeling alright?" You ask. You didn't want him going home feeling terrible, especially if you could help.

"Aw shucks, darlin'. I'm feelin' fit as a fiddle."

"Yeah, okay. You're still covered in punch, that's going to take forever to get the stain out."

"Yeah, I know," Dave said, leaning on your side.

"Is this around where you live?" You asked Dave as he stood in front of a bus. He denied having any affiliation with the bus, but that was proven false when a man came out of the door.

"Hey! Oh my god, Wil-" The man got cut off by dave violently coughing beside you. You rubbed his back comfortingly. "Pardon, Dave. Has he been any trouble? It's every day with this bozo. We'll punish him accordingly if we must."

"Oh, he's been perfectly fine! Just had one too many, is all!" You told him. Dave walked toward the bus, half asleep.

"...Right. Anyway, I'll be taking him from here."

"Right then. I'll see you tomorrow, Dave."

You watched the man try to get Dave into the bus, without him falling. "Right here, Mr. Miller. Wild night, huh?"

Wild night, indeed.

.............................................

I wrote this the same night as chapter 4, because I felt like it wasn't good enough. I'm sorry if Dave seemed a little weird and sappy, but y'know, drunk Dave has emotions lol. Happy birthday, even if it ain't your birthday! I don't know why this idea is what I thought about, but I couldn't just make it normal I guess. Thank you, and have a good day/night!
