4th Night

Finally, the clock hit five. Just one more hour till you and Jeremy can get home and sleep. But the animatronics are set on making this the worst hour of your life, apparently. They will not leave the office, no matter how many times you put down your mask or flash your lights. They will not learn their lesson and go back to their places. You've gotten over being scared, it's just annoyance at this point. Why can't they just leave you and Jeremy alone? It's not that hard for them to just have a party by themselves on the stage or something.

You've barely spoken to Jeremy at all tonight, you have been so distracted. Well, that's probably a good thing. You don't want to be talking an ear off with him, then being dragged away by the animatronics like some sort of ritualistic sacrifice.

The only fear you feel is when the banging sounds in the vent, signalling that the animatronics are trying to crawl in. You don't know if they think they're being stealthy about it, but they certainly aren't. You can hear the clanking for miles. It actually hurts your eardrums. But, it does alert you to check the cameras and put your mask down.

Which is why you lean closer to the tablet to check the vents, hearing the sound. Jeremy has the same plan, looking over your shoulder. Unlike usual, there's absolutely nothing that you can see in the cameras angle. That confuses you, knowing that the cameras get most of the vent in view. So, you both let it go.

That was a bad decision, seeing as Balloon Boy just happened to be inside the office. Sometimes, you think about how easy it would be to just kick him into the sun, so he would never come back. You stick your mask down, Jeremy doing the same. Balloon boy doesn't do anything, so you just stare at him before taking the mask off.

You sighed angrily, done with the night. You want to go and go to bed beside William, but you signed up for this. What a mistake that was.

Jeremy lifts the Freddy mask off his face. "Come on, man, I don't have time for this." Jeremy exclaims to Balloon Boy, trying to flash his flashlight down the hallway. It wasn't working, though. That worries you. You need that flashlight. You won't be able to get through this night without it. "Huh? But-

"Hurry up, Jeremy," You warn him, slowly getting more anxious. You rip the flashlight from Jeremy's hand trying to press the buttons as well. Nothing. "Goddamnit..."

"What the- HEY!" Jeremy jumps out of his chair, reaching across the desk. You jump back at his yell and realize that Balloon Boy has stolen the batteries. Should've kicked him when you had the chance.

You get out from behind the desk, trying to steal the batteries back. But Balloon Boy begins to run down the hallway. "NO! Get back here!" You hurriedly grab your Bonnie mask, slamming it on.

Rushing down the hallway after the thief, you notice all the animatronics that were on their way to the office. They become significantly less terrifying when the see the Bonnie mask, almost returning to normal. You wish.

You finally catch up to Balloon Boy, jumping for him and grabbing the batteries from him. Placing the batteries back into the flashlight, you notice Jeremy following you with his Freddy Mask on. It's understandable for him to follow; he doesn't have a flashlight to protect himself with in the security office. So, you pass it to him, silently apologizing for taking it from him in the first place.

"Watch out!" Jeremy pulls you forward by the arm, flashing the flashlight where you used to be. You see Foxy with his hook in the air, clearly about to swing it at you. You don't need that to happen twice.

Foxy runs away, disoriented from the light. You begin to walk back to the office, wanting to check the time. Before you could, a voice interrupts the silence. It's not yours, nor is it Jeremy's. It sounds like a little girl's, which is way creepier than it should be. "They did not used to be like this."

You and Jeremy turn towards the voice, facing the big present box by the prize counter. "What- who... who's there?" Jeremy asks.

"It's me."

"What the fuck are you talking about?" You ask the little girls voice, not being able to place a face to the voice. This better not be one of William's victims, that's not good for you. She definitely knows something.

"She has led them astray. She is a fool. Her actions will only lead to more death and destruction. More than she could possibly imagine," the girl spoke. Who is this "she" she's talking about? What does she even mean about death and destruction? "But she won't care."

"Jeremy, come on..." You try to drag him back to the office, but he stays in place.

The Puppet peeks out of box. You know what that means; the music box needs rewinding. "The others are like animals. But I am very aware. I can help you, I can keep you safe. If you let me out."

Jeremy finally realized what you're trying to do and moves with you backwards. "I- we have to go back the office."

The two of you begin to speed walk back the office, trying not to look back at The Puppet in fear. "Wait- where are you going? Please- let me out."

Did these hallways get longer?

"Let me out."

Was your breathing always this heavy?

"LET ME OUT!!"

God, the echos.

"YOU CANNOT KEEP ME AWAY!!"

You look back, making sure Jeremy still follows.

"YOU CANNOT RUN!!"

Your legs carried you as fast as they could into the office. Lifting off the Bonnie mask, you hit the music box button. But nothing stops. Nothing fucking stops. Not the staticky shrieking of a child's spirit. Not the fear. Not your panicked breathing. Not Jeremy slamming down on the music box's button. Nothing.

"I ONLY EVER WANTED TO HELP. I GAVE THEM GIFTS. I GAVE THEM LIFE. I BROUGHT THEM BACK..." You cover your ears. If you didn't, you're sure they would bleed. The echoing, glass-shattering voice wouldn't end. "BUT THEY CAME BACK WRONG. AFTER ALL I DID FOR THEM, THEY LOCK ME AWAY. EVERYBODY LOCKED ME AWAY!!"

Jeremy and I stood closely to each other, making sure we can't separate. You want to tell him it will be alright, even if you don't believe it yourself. He can't even hear you, what's the point? It's too loud. Everything's too loud.

"WHAT DID I DO WRONG?! WHY DO THEY ALL HATE ME?! I JUST WANT TO HELP! PLEASE!"

The Puppet pleads for their release from the box. Again. And again. And again. And again. A constant loop of screams. No way to stop it in sight, you have to endure it.

Or so you thought.

The alarm clock beeps, being the thing to stop the terror. It's six. It's finally six in the morning. You can leave this wretched place for the day. Thank fucking god.

You remove your hands away from your ears cautiously, turning to Jeremy. He does the same as the two of you make eye contact.

Without speaking, you pull him into a hug, wrapping your arms around him. You feel the few tears you could manage fall onto your cheeks. You couldn't help but notice the sniffling and shaking from Jeremy. "Jeremy... you need to leave this place- this job." He tightens his grip on you, crying harder. You try soothing him by rubbing his back gently. Nothing seems to be calming him down and you don't blame him. Not in the slightest. How could he just calm down? "I can call Mike for you, if you want? He can come pick you up. I just... I really don't want you to be alone right now, Jeremy."

Jeremy removed himself from my shoulder, pausing his sobs. "N-No... I don't- don't want to worry him... he has enough to worry about." Jeremy went back to tears, looking down at the floor.

"That's fine. Um..." You will not leave him alone. There's no way that's happening. You aren't going to worry Joan or Mr. Guy. So that leaves one option. "If your comfortable, you can stay at mine?"

This goes against everything you wanted to avoid, but it's not like Jeremy doesn't know. He knows that William Afton lives with you. William can't have a say in whether or not Jeremy stays there, he doesn't pay rent or anything. So, Jeremy can stay at your house.

"Sure," Jeremy choked out through sniffles. You're only hope now is that William doesn't absolutely freak out.

.............................................

You pulled into the drive-through lane. Earlier, you asked Jeremy what he wanted to eat, and what he said made you snicker; McDonald's. One of the things William hates the most. Well, too bad. Jeremy is getting what he wants and you'll make William eat it.

"So, what would you like?" Waiting for the person in front of you to order, you roll your window down slowly.

Jeremy thinks for a second before answering. "A kids meal."

"Really?"

"Yep."

You notice the car in front of you rolling forward, allowing you to take its place. The person on the other end of the speaker speaks, asking what you'd like to order. Of course you order Jeremy's kids meal but add two more onto that. You have to get something for William and yourself.

You roll up to the drive through window to pay and collect your food. Now, you just have to get home with Jeremy, eat, then you can all sleep. Nothing sounds better then that right now.

.............................................

Once you open the door, you step in front of Jeremy, somewhat protecting him from William. You don't know how he's is going to take this. But, if it bothers him so much, he can leave for a few hours, then come back later. It's up to him.

William doesn't show up at the door where he usually is to meet you, so you assume he's in the guest bedroom. He could be sleeping already. That would make everything easier for you.

But of course, that wasn't the case. The door to the guest bedroom swung open, revealing a tired looking William. He yawned, poorly waving to you, before turning to the living room. He hasn't seen Jeremy yet, you can tell that much.

So, without saying anything to William, you and Jeremy sit down at your dining table. You pass him his kids meal. Once he starts to eat, you contemplate bringing William his. You decide to at least try to get him to eat it.

You get out of your seat, happy meal in hand, and go to the living room. "How was your night?"

"Fine," William answers quickly. He seems exhausted. He should really get some sleep during the nights you're gone. "What's that?"

Assuming he finally looked at the kids meal box, you reach over to him and put it in his hands. William opens the box, seeing the contents. Noticing its food, he starts to unwrap the burger, taking a bite out of it. He seems to enjoy it.

There's no way you're telling him that he's eating McDonald's. He's too tired to comprehend that right now.

You head back to the dining table, finally starting to eat your own meal. Right before William shouts out profanity, then gets off the couch. That's not good.

"The goddamn ketchup leaked onto my shirt-"

"Hey, Mr. Afton..." Jeremy greets, politely. William stood still, shocked to see him here.

"WOT THE FUCK IS HE DOING HERE?!" William yells. Apparently he's not tired anymore.

You stand up from your seat, placing your hand on his shoulder. You turn him away from Jeremy and walk with him to the guest room. "Jeremy has to stay here tonight. He had a tough night, so I don't want him to be alone-"

William interrupts you, his anger increasing. "So?! He seems perfectly fine to me!"

"You cannot look at him and say he's fine, William. Even you know he's not acting normal."

"Whatever!" William pushes you out of the guest bedroom slamming the door behind you. You stumble before standing back up. The door clicks, telling you it's locked.

Thankfully, Jeremy didn't try to comment on your little fight with William, but instead just ate his food in peace with you. You just know that after Jeremy leaves, you're going to be having a conversation or two with William. Especially about Jeremy knowing his real name. That's not going to be fun.
