I sat up, gasping for breath. "Who woke me up?! I'm not ready! Still healing. Still...ugh...can you smell that? No, not smell...not hear. Feel...can you feel that?" I felt my collar bone. "Stay still Ryan!"

"What is it? What's the matter?" He asked nervously.

I jumped up, pulling down the collar of his jumper slightly, sighing, "show me your collar bones."Β

The four humans pulled down the rims of their shirts. On each collar bone was a small, red, flashing light.Β

"Oh you've all got them..."

"So have you." Ryan commented.

"Yeah, I have. Okay, really sorry. Not good news. DNA bombs, micro implants which code to your DNA. On detonation they disrupt the foundation of your genetic code, melting your DNA. Fast and nasty, and outlawed in every civilised galaxy."

"How d'we get them?"

"Never mind that!" Graham cried, "are they gonna go off?"

"Quiet im trying to think." I sat down onto the sofa again, head in hands. "It's difficult, I don't know yet who I am, brain and body still....rebooting, reformatting. Oh! Reformatting!" I pointed at Ryan's phone on the table and stood up, "can I borrow that?"

"Yeah I guess so, but what for?"

"That creature, on the train, when you two came on board, it zapped us with these. Simple plan to take out witnesses, very clever. Merciless, but clever." I held up the phone in the air, "I reformatted your phone!"

"No!" Ryan groaned, "all my stuff is on there!"

"Not anymore!"

I held the phone to my collar and zapped, the force sent me crashing back into the wall, gasping. I regained my strength and crouched. "That nap did me the world of good! Very comfy sofa!" Standing up, I grabbed my jacket and held out the phone in front of me, "come on! Keep up!"

"Next left." I said as we zoomed through the city.

"Where are we driving to?" Yaz asked.

"I recon she's using my phone to track the origin signal for the DNA bombs." Ryan guessed.

"Again, how long till they go off?!" Graham asked again.

"Don't know." I answered.

"Well, can't we just defuse them?"

"Not without the right equipment."

The phone beeped loudly, "oh! Left again!"

We pulled into a dark, abandoned side alley and quickly scrambled from the car. "We're close." I stated, moving in front over everyone and glancing down at the phone.Β

A small explosion emitted, a couple of metres from our faces and a black figure walked from the flames. "Bingo!" I cried, "oi! Oh....I was expecting Β another tentacle-y thing. Don't you move!"Β

It turned and jogged stiffly off, I silently cursed myself and chased after it, when had that ever worked?Β

"Wait? Is that another alien?" Ryan asked, quickly running after me.Β

"Looks like it!" Grace replied, joining Ryan.

"Why is she running at another alien?!" Graham cried.

"Don't just stand there, come on!" Yaz shouted back and they both sprinted after us.

"Now we'reΒ all running at it!"

I groaned, coming to a abrupt stop, Yaz right behind me. "Lost it. It's fast, I'm slower because of all this fizzing inside." She looked slightly alarmed but shook her head, an amused expression dawning on her face.

"In here!" Ryan shouted, standing by a door to the large warehouse, the car park backed onto. We followed him through, Graham and Grace stood by a lifeless man, slumped against the wall.

"Gotta man down over here." Graham sighed.

"That thing must've killed him." Grace spoke. "I've never seen injuries like these."

"Not a weapon blast, more of an ice burn." I commented.

"It broke his jaw open too."

I crouched down, "looks like it took one of his teeth, what sorta creature kills someone then stops to pull out a tooth? I'm sorry you all had to see this."

"I'll find something to cover the body."

"Thank you Grace."

"I'm sorry any of this is happening, I'm sorry that thing on the train planted these bombs inside you, and I'm sorry I haven't figured out what's going on yet."

"This is it! This is the thing!" Ryan called from behind me.

I turned round, he was pointed at what looked like a giant, deep blue shell, smashed on the floor.

"It was all sealed up earlier." Yaz commented. "Looks like it's been broken."

"Or it's done what it came here for." I circled the object. "It's some sort of transport chamber, presumably for that thing we just saw in the alley. But...why here? Why tonight?"Β

"Actually, that might of been me." Ryan said.

"Why? What did you do?"

"When I went to get me bike, there was this line in the air, and then it moved and there were shapes."

"And?"

"And I touched one."

"Ryan!" Grace groaned.

"You'd all would've done the same!"

"I wouldn't!" Graham replied.

"I would've." I chipped in.

"Alright, the shapes disappeared, and a few seconds later, that appeared. What have I done?"

"Hard to say really."I ponderedΒ

"Suppose you'll be blaming this on the dyspraxia too then!" Graham said angrily. "Can't ride a bike, started an alien invasion!"

"Graham!" Grace shouted.

"What?!"Β

"Enough, love!"Β

"Alright, I made a mistake, but why did that guy move this thing from the woods to here anyway?" He pointed to the dead man in the corner. "And how did he even know it was there?"Β

"Good questions." I said.

"Let's look around here, see what we can find." Yaz suggested.

"Can't follow it." I cried, staring at the glitching phone screen. "Like it figured out what I was doing!"Β

"If we were tracking bomb signals from that creature on the train, why did they lead us here?" Grace wondered.

"Another good question! I dunno. If I could analyse that, course, what I really need is my..."Β I reached into my pocket for my sonic and groaned

"I could build one!" I realised. "I'm good at building things! Probably..."
