Christmas - 10 - Skating

Ice skating sounds horrific. That's what I'm putting here. Yep.

I have never ice skated, and I therefore cannot vouch for anything being even remotely realistic here.

Comments are welcome and appreciated!

Please enjoy!

~~~~~
I didn't like this. I didn't like this one bit. Ice and metal blades did not go together, and it looked like the most dangerous sport of all time! What if the ice broke?! What if one of my boys tripped and broke a bone?! There were thousands of ways this could go wrong, and I wasn't going to have it!
"Please?" Error begged.
"No." I shook my skull.
"..Please?" Error used his 'you will give me what I desire' face.
"..." I had to resist those eyelights..I had to.
A compromise was made. Instead of the frozen lake my boys had been intending to skate on, I chose a nice indoor ice rink; it was also rarely used due to being in a cold area, and no one would give us any trouble. My boys agreed to the terms, and the next day, we found ourselves at an ice rink. No one else was there, aside from a couple workers, but they didn't bother us after we had done everything necessary to enter the rink. When we were ready, my boys and I went out on the ice..and every one of them fell down; I was glad that I had learned how to ice skate as a child (Dream had pestered me about it for months before I had given in, though).
"It's slippery!" Error giggled, sliding on the ice.
"How are you up there?" Killer stared up at me, wondering why I hadn't fallen with them.
"I learned when I was a child." I replied.
"Then why didn't you want us to?" Horror inquired.
"..That entire village hated me, as you well know by now, and they weren't above sawing bits of ice to make them unstable; I fell into many frozen lakes when I was small, and I don't want the same to happen to you." I sighed. "But this should be safe enough.."
"Y-you mean we could fall in?" Dust didn't want to fall into cold water.
"You shouldn't be able to here.." I would have planned for the next negativity run to be here if something like that did happen. "This place is made for skating, and it wouldn't be good management if they had thin ice."
"So..how do we stand?" Killer asked.
"I'll teach you."
Error managed to stand up first, and the rest of my boys eventually got the hang of it over the next couple hours. When Dust, the final one to learn, had managed to stand without falling, the others had already begun to move around, with various falls - that was to be expected, with my boys; they were often clumsy, and being on ice simply made it worse.
"I'm moving!" Error giggled as he slid across the ice.
"Good job." I complimented. "Are you boys having fun?"
"Yeah, but this is hard.." Horror nearly slipped again, before catching his balance.
"You'll get used to it. Remember to keep your balance-" I was cut off by a familiar feeling.
"How..punderful." Killer giggled at the timing.
"That was punintentional." I clarified.
"Very punny!"
"I think this is going too far."
"You have to work?" Error frowned.
"Afraid so." I nodded. "Can you get home?"
"Yeah.." Error sadly opened a portal home and trudged through it.
"Can we attack an AU with ice?" Cross wanted to continue to skate.
"I'm not sure that would be smart; you boys are hardly skilled enough to actually perform combat on the ice." I responded.
"It would be good..training?" Horror tried to sway my mind.
I sighed. "All right, but if I see you struggling, I warned you."
"Fair enough!" Killer grinned. "Let's get fighting!"
As it turned out, fighting on ice skates was harder than my boys had imagined, and that was made evident when the inhabitants of the AU I had chosen began to fight back. Usually, my boys could handle them, but this entire AU was an ice rink; the inhabitants had more knowledge and skill. It was a good training exercise, however, and my boys seemed to improve after the first several flops. When the first inhabitant was defeated in combat, my boys began to smile, before falling down again. No matter how badly we were fighting, negativity was still being spread, and the balance was repairing itself..until the Star Sanses came to fight us, of course. As soon as they came through their portal, they all slipped on the ice and ended up in a pile.
"What kind of AU is this?!" Ink was angered at the fact that he had been trapped at the bottom of the pile of Star Sanses. "Who had the stupid idea to make this?!"
"Um, Ink.." Dream kindly addressed. "You made it..last month."
"...Why would you let me do that?! Dream, I can be an idiot sometimes! There's got to be something to stop me from making horrible things such as this sorry excuse for an AU! You are that!"
"Ink, I'm not your dad."
"You're not?" Ink paused in thought.
"Did he just call us horrible?" This AU's Sans had..overheard that..
"..In my personal opinion, I think this is a wonderful AU; that's why we even bothered to attack it." I decided to put the icing on the cake. "We don't attack just any AU, you know."
"What're you doing?" Dust whispered to me.
"Just watch." I murmured back.
The Sans, along with a few other inhabitants of the AU, turned from us..and they looked at the Star Sanses.
"Which one of you called us horrible?" The Sans was angry.
"He did!" The blueberry and Dream both pointed to Ink; they were not going to take punishment for the artist's crimes.
"I said what?" Ink had already forgotten, but the angry inhabitants had certainly not.
"You said our AU is horrible!" The Undyne of this AU reminded.
The artist looked around, examining the AU. "..Ew, it's ugly..why did we come here?"
"You're gonna pay for that, punk!"
And thus, Ink began to realize the error of his words. Dream and the blueberry rushed over to us, while the inhabitants rushed over to Ink, hurling attacks at the Creator. Negativity was running rampant, and the inhabitants were essentially filling in for us.
"Did you really have to do that?" Dream seemed disappointed in me.
"I didn't do a thing." I defended.
"You instigated a war against my one of best friends."
"..They probably would have attacked him whether I spoke or not."
"But you did speak."
"You two threw him under the bus."
"...Are you teaching them how to ice skate?" Dream changed the subject.
"Yes."
"..Okay. Good luck with that, then."
"Indeed."
"..This is awkward."
"Your unease is wonderful, really."
"...Blue, let's go help Ink!"
With that, the two Star Sanses went to help their companion, who was currently being maimed.
Life was so much fun.
