New Friends

(Y/N)

~Two Days Later ~

The sun peeked through my blinds, lightly burning the side of my face. I opened my eyes lazily as I came to the realization that it was about time for me to wake up. Surprisingly my dad didn't wake me up this time. I yawned as I turned over on my back and sat up. 12:47 blinked at me in red digital numbers. I rubbed crust out of my eyes and rolled out of bed. Today I told myself I would go take a walk around. I seen this Donut place that looked pretty legit to me. I slipped out of my pajamas into a (F/C) short sleeved shirt, some light denim blue capris, and into some some (F/C) flats. It wasn't much but who here didn't dress casual? It was better than what I wore for the last passed few days. Living in New York, I was use to it being chilly. I often forgot that I lived on a beach. But anyway I left my hair be, in the messy bun it was in.  I freshened up and grabbed my little purse that I kept things like my inhaler, phone, and money in and I was on my way out the house. I stopped by my Dad's room to discover that he wasn't in there. I shrugged. He probably went to work or was with Greg. Speaking of, I was still yet to meet his son. Him and my dad was planning some kind of beach barbeque for me and a few other people. I tell you, my dad goes all out for me for no apparent reason. I hope it wasn't too much people. Anyway I left the house, locking the door behind me. I was on my way...

Lars

"It's so hot..." I groaned to Sadie as I fanned myself with some napkins. I hated that I had to work on hot days like this. This was ridiculous.

"You're such a drama king Lars." Sadie said rolling her eyes at me. Before I could say anything, Steven bursted in the door with too much excitement for my liking.

"Oh great! Can it get any worse?" I said annoyed. I didn't think he heard me though. Sadie nudged me hard in my side though.

"Hey Steven." She said bubbly.

"Sadie!" He said excited running up to the counter. I wonder who gave this kid coffee. He seemed a little more happier than usual.

"Wassup?" Sadie asked him.

"I'm inviting you guys to the Beach Barbeque that my dad and his best friend are planning. It'll be in two days. I am just here to give you guys a two days notice." Steven explained. I rolled my eyes mentally.

"Sure. We'll be there. Right Lars?" Sadie looked up at me. I hope she knows just because she does that doesn't mean I'm going to say yes. Ever since we made it official, she's been using that face to get what she wants.

"Uhh... I'll thin"-

"He'll be there Steven." Sadie interrupted me. I growled at her and she nudged me again.

"Other than that, I'll take two chocolate donuts to go. I'm in a hurry so I can get the word out to everyon"-

"Yeah, yeah. Here you go." I cut him off while I handed him his donuts and watched him take off. Sadie scoffed, shaking her head.

"Sometimes I can't believe you're my boyfriend." She mumbled. I guess she thought I didn't hear her.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked offended.

"Well you're such an asshole for no reason. I can't wait till Steven finally realizes how much of a jerk you are and gives you what you deserve." She faced away from me. I opened my mouth to argue back but then I had to stop myself. I knew if we started we wouldn't stop. Plus she was right. Sometime I could be an ass but it was by nature... I kneeled down and grabbed her shoulder. She turned around and I planted a kiss on her nose.

"I'm sorry. I'll go to the party with you to make it up." I said genuinely.

"Tss! You were going to go anyway!" She laughed. I rolled my eyes and then looked back into her's. We both just stared at each other and leaned in for a kiss. As soon as my lips touched her's the door to the shop, swung open and we quickly pulled away, blushing.

"Is this a bad time?" a soft, feminine voice that was unfamiliar asked us.

"Uh, n-no we're sorry, we"- we both looked up to find a girl standing there... She was beautiful. I could tell by the silence next to me that Sadie thought the same.

"It's okay... I can come back later"-

"N-n-n-no we- you... what would you like?" Sadie blushed. It was so cute when Sadie stammered and blushed afterwards. I couldn't help myself but to let out a little chuckle.

"Uhh.. well, I'd love three glazed donuts and a coffee." The girl came up to the counter.

"Coming right up." Sadie said going in the direction of the coffee. I started to get the donuts for the strange girl...

"So this place is cute... how old you have to be to work here?" She asked me a little above a whisper. I could tell that she was quiet and shy. Just the way she spoke and refuse to make eye contact let me on...

"Well since we don't have a lot of people in Beach City, it more depends on your personality." I answered her. She nodded in agreement.

"Maybe I'll consider getting a job. It's about that time anyway." She smiled lightly. I returned the smile to.

"Here you go..." Sadie said handing her the coffee.

"So you just moved her?" I continued to make conversation with the girl. She nodded and smiled like she was prideful about it.

"Mhm. I'm your new neighbor." She looked at her feet shyly. We all stood there in silence for a few seconds....

"W-well I'm Sadie. Nice to meet you." Sadie held out her hand for the girl to shake it. She hesitated but did so anyway.

"I'm (Y/N)." She pulled away then looked at me.

"I'm Lars." I introduced myself taking my her hand and shaking it.

"Nice to meet you Sadie and Lars." She said genuinely.

"How are you enjoying Beach City so far?" Sadie asked her.

"I love it... it's quiet, tranquil, and beautiful. I feel at ease." The girl explained herself, finally talking above the whisper she had introduced herself in. When she realized she was getting louder she looked back down at her feet.

"She must haven't met Steven yet"-

"Shut up Lars." Sadie scolded me.

"Steven Universe?" the girl asked us, curiously...

"We only know one Steven, so I guess so. You've met him?" Sadie continued to question the girl.

"No actually. This town really is small though. I met his dad a few days ago." She answered.

"You don't wanna meet him"- Sadie glared daggers at me.

"Ignore Lars. He's just stupid. Steven is a really colorful boy. You'll love him." Sadie assure her. I scoffed and she stepped on my foot.

"Well I can't wait to meet him. He'll be my first friend in Beach"-

"Third friend." Sadie corrected her smiled. The girl's face lit up.

"Oh thank you Sadie... That means a lot to me." She smiled.

"Hey you seem pretty cool. We're actually going to this beach thing that Steven's dad and his friend is planning... You should come." Sadie invited her.

"Well I really don't have a choice." The girl said shyly.

"What do you mean?" Me and Sadie asked in unison. The girl smirked.

"Just know that I'll see you at the party. I'll catch you guys later." She said before turning around and walking towards the exit, leaving me and Sadie there hanging...

"I really like her." Sadie smiled. I chuckled and shook my head.
