Beach City

(Y/N)

"Aren't you excited? Think of all the new people you will meet. It's a City that's basically a beach! Tell me how we could top that!" My dad was so cheesy.

"Yeah I am excited. It seems like a pretty legit place." I said coolly as I relaxed in the passenger seat.

"It's not a lot of people there though..." My dad sighed. I semi smiled.

"Don't worry daddy. It's okay." I tried to relieve him. I know he was trying to make light of the situation as is. But honestly, I had no problem with the fact that the city had very low population.

"I know you aren't really use to it, having to live with your mom in New York with all those people." He worried.

"Dad, that's exactly why I couldn't wait to come here. I needed an escape from that stuff. This is exactly what I wanted. So don't worry pops." I gave him an assuring smile. I hated that he stressed so much to make me happy. Just as long as I was with my dad I was happy.

"I'm happy if you are." He smiled back at me before giving his attention to the road and continuing to drive to our destination....

My name was (Y/F/N) (Y/L/N) I was a average teenage girl. I wasn't too much of this or that, and I wasn't that much to talk about either. Even for myself I say that. The most exciting thing that is actually going on in my life is or now was the battle of custody of me between my mom and my dad. For most of my childhood I have been unhappy. Don't get me wrong. I love my mom and my siblings but because my mom despised my dad so much she took most of her anger out on me. I felt like I was less favored than the others. But when I was with my dad I felt so at ease. He was a loving person. A man that could do no wrong. I didn't understand where all the hate from my mother came from. I ask myself, "how could you not love this man?". He was my best friend, my only friend, and everything I needed... But that's as much as I have to say about my life... I wasn't one to have many friends. I was chill and I kept to myself.

"The house is so big... You'll love it. It's a four bedroom, with two bathrooms, the kitchen is life and the view"-

"Let me guess, a beach view?" I giggled. He shook his head and chuckled.

"My baby girl is so smart." He glanced over at me. I rolled my eyes. Again, "how could you not love this man?"

"I have a surprise for you when we get there..." This guy...

"I can't wait to see it." I cheesed excitedly. My dad was too much, in a good way. His surprises always made me feel way better. It could be the smallest thing, but knowing that my dad went out of his was to do it for me made me super happy.

"Well you're about to get really excited because we'll be there in five... four.... three .." He said as we pulled into the driveway of this decent sized house. Don't get me wrong but I'm guessing he meant big as in for two people. It wasn't small but I'll settle for the words "just right". I smiled as I got out the car. He was right. This place was a literal beach.

"Leave your bags in here for now. I want to show you your surprise first." He said as he took out his keys and walked up to the door. He let us in and a average smell hit my face. It was already decorated. My dad had lived here long before he got custody of me. He took my arm and dragged me along. To the back of the house. There was five doors. But the one in the middle had my nickname written in a fancy cursive with rhinestone decorated around it.

"Close your eyes..." He said to me. I smiled and did as he wanted.  He then opened my door and a sweet vanilla scent hit my nose.

"Walk forward until I say stop..." He demanded. I did as he said and then when he said stop I dropped my hands and my jaw too.

"Oh.... Dad.... This is...." I started as I turned in circles, looking around.... My room was unbelievable. It was.... Me.... It had my favorite color everywhere. It was decorated how I pictured my dream room to be with a queen sized bed and looking to my left I seen a bathroom. This had to be the master bedroom.... Ain't no way it wasn't. But why would dad give me the master bedroom?

"I see you like it." He smirked. I froze from looking around and then all of a sudden I ran and consumed him with a hug.

"Thanks pops. This is just.... Everything..." I said to him. This was heaven. He went the extra mile.

"Don't think me. You deserve this baby girl.... Now go get in the shower. By time you get out all your stuff will be in here so you can get dressed and we can go out for a drive and something to eat." He let me go smiled. I smiled back at him before going into my bathroom to freshen up.

~Later That Evening~

My dad and I stopped by this place fry shop place to eat and now we were just driving around Beach City. He wasn't kidding when he said that there was low population. But despite of how many people lived in this city it was beautiful. It seemed harmless. You could easily find you way back home if you were walking...

"We're going to stop by my good friend, Greg's car wash. I really want you to meet him." My dad said. I shrugged and went with it... before I knew it we were pulling into a car wash place. There was a van in front of it that read "Mr. Universe" on it. It looked throwback... like the van they used on Scooby Doo. I giggled to myself. My dad parked his car and honked his horn. A few seconds later the door on the van slid open and an older man stepped out. He was built like a "Santa Claus" if that makes sense. He had had long brown hair, but completely gone on the top of his hair, and he had an even longer beard. He was a caucasian man with a weird tan who had the biggest pot belly. He had weird attire also, but who doesn't in Beach City? Everyone dressed like they were on a beach... which they were... but that's not the point. The man looked like he had to be near is fifties. He reminded me a lot of Homer Simpson. I held back a grin.

"Heyyy John!" He came up to my dad's side of the car as he rolled his window down.

"Greg!" My dad greeted him with a pat on the arm. 'Greg' looked over at me and smiled.

"Is this her?" He asked my dad.

"This is the gal!" My dad answered him cheesily. Older men are so corny it was ridiculous.

"Well you guys don't just sit there! Come on out!" Greg stepped away from the car so we could. I followed my dad's lead as he got out the car and so did I... I walked over to my dad's side of the car to stand next to you. Greg put his hand on my shoulder.

"Oh my! You two are twins!" He grinned. I smiled shyly. But it was true. We had the exact same eyes, nose, lips.... all of that. If he were younger, you would swear we were twins...

"Only thing is she is mind-blowingly beautiful. I'm going to need some of that boy repellant to keep her safe!" My dad laughed with Greg. Oh brother... As if. Boys were the last thing on my mind. But here my dad goes being corny again.

"How old are you hun?" He asked me. I have yet to speak to anyone in this city. Since I've been here, I haven't opened my mouth to anyone but my dad.

"16..." I mumbled, looking down at my feet. I didn't want to be so quiet but I couldn't help it...

"Sorry Greg. She's not much of a talker. But as soon as she makes some friends that will be all over." My dad shook me a little bit. I lightly smiled still looking down at the ground...

"You will love my son. He's really friendly. He's a little younger but he'll be like the little brother you never had." Greg bragged.

"Where is he though?" My dad asked Greg.

"He's with the Gems of course." Hmm...

"It's getting pretty late though. You guys should come back sometime. Maybe we can go up to the other side of the beach and hang out with Steven and the Gems..." I take it that Steven was his son...

"Sure thing. I'll give you a call on that one. Seeya." My dad leaned in and gave Greg a brotherly hug.

"Bye Greg." I muttered, smiling. I know it caught him off guard because he looked at me strangely.

"Bye (Y/N)." He smiled back at me. He was a truly good-hearted man. He reminded me a lot of my dad. We got in the car and pulled off, leaving Greg waving behind us.

"Isn't he 'cool'?" By dad smiled. I giggled.

"Yes dad he is. He's very homely. I wonder if everyone here is..." I said.

"They are sweetheart. You'll love it here."

I can't deny that.
