Summary:

Aki Tomoya (Matsuoka Yoshitsugu) is an otaku, the kind of nerd that anime fans should be thankful for, because it’s their religious BD purchases that keep the industry afloat. Hardcore geek that he is, Tomoya has little interest outside of purchasing merchandise and working to pay for them, until one day he literally runs into the beautiful Katou Megumi (Yasuno Kiyono), and inexplicably falls in love. Henceforth he is touched by a muse and attains a calling: to produce a galge starring a heroine modeled after Megumi. He ropes in superficially foreign childhood friend Sawarumi Spencer Eriri (Oonishi Saori) and resident genius Kasumigaoka Utaha (Kayano Ai) to form a coterie for the express purpose of creating this amateur visual novel. It’s going to be daunting task, though. Katou Megumi is a girl completely void of personality. How does one write a compelling heroine from that?

Own opinion:

Finally a romance anime! Well kamisama hajimemashita is a romance anime this show is different because it’s a school romcom. So I’m really excited for this, it has the harem vibes to it. Well it really is a harem. -_- For those of you who enjoyed autumn’s Shirobako, the anime about making anime, here’s an anime about making a visual novel, with an even more meta bent. Not only is Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata (How to Train an Ordinary Girl to Be an Heroine) an anime light novel adaptation about making a visual novel, it’s an anime light novel adaptation about making a visual novel about itself. Try and wrap your head around that. Make sure to be ready for a loads of ships sailing again, like the last anime inou battle where people are fighting who is the best girl. I’m sure the same goes for this anime.
