You and your brothers searched for hours. Literally. You stared at your watch like not blinking would stop time.

"She has to be around somewhere!" Martin said determinedly. You glanced at Chris, and he had a matching look of lost hope. "Lucky's mom can't be gone..."

"There's a chance of abandonment." You suggested bitterly. Both brothers looked at you. "Not all parents want their kids, it's the same with both humans and animals."

"(____), that's not-" Chris started. Martin pushed past him and grabbed you by the arm. He started dragging you back to the Tortuga. "Martin, what are you doing?!"

"I think Mom and Dad should be the ones to explain why they did what they did." He growled irritably, not slowing down. "We can finish this creature mission later, but now is the time for you to stop being mad at our parents."

You instantly yanked your arm away from him, taking him by surprise. You turned and ran into the woods.

(A/n: Introducing transition chapters! These will be short little chapters that just kind of lead into the next part of the story. It's also kinda my way of saying: Hey, I'm out of ideas, so here's a cliffhanger! But the plot of the story is going to change slightly in the next chapter. I swear I'm not entirely out of ideas, I just ran out of ideas for Lucky. But, Lucky will be a reoccurring character.)
