Chapter 18 - Princess in The Portrait

3rd POV

(This is your outfit but you can change the colour of the hoodie or change the outfit entirely. I just find it hard to pick outfits. If you have any suggestions, comment them! I will try my best to include them.)

It was 11:00am in the morning and Y/n was on a phone call with someone. She stood in her kitchen, her hand firmly gripping the handle of her mug of tea. Her expression showed on of distress.

"Listen, I understand I might be the best in the job, but I just want to quit. It's safer for the people I care about," Y/n reasoned with the caller.

"Agent Striker, you've been faithful all these years and, all of a sudden, you want to quit?!" A loud male voice roared on the other line, making Y/n pull the phone a few inches away from her ear before she lost her hearing.

"Jesus, don't get your panties in a twist. You'll find and train someone as good as me in the future, but please," Y/n took a breath before continuing, "Understand: this is for my family. How would you feel if you, being the leader of hundreds of assassins, put a target on your daughter? You told me she was all you had left, didn't you? Do you really want to risk her life?" There was silence on the other end of the phone, a contemplative silence.

After a few minutes, the man spoke, "Alright, just promise me, you won't forget everything I've taught you and that you don't make s-stupid decisions, okay?" His voice started to break, as if he were about to cry. "Stay in contact, okay? Not for missions, just mere friendship. I'm sure my little Sophie would love to see her best friend again."

A gentle smile broke across the (h/c)-haired girl's face. "I will, don't worry. See you, boss."

"Maverick, please. I mean, you are quitting aren't you?" He sassed.

"Fine, Maverick. Bye."

"Goodbye, Agent." Then the line went dead. Y/n loosened her grip on her mug, now relieved that she had quit her overly dangerous job. She took a sip of her drink while looking at her texts to see if any messages had popped up, especially from Ava. She noticed one and opened it.

The Daemos have an otherworldy portal in MY HOUS- APARTMENT and we haven't explored it yet?!

Come and help me investigate.

I might need back up in case they try and attack me.

'I guess I better go,' She thought, polishing off her tea and bolting out the door and down the steps to Ava's apartment. The door handle was still burnt off and Y/n could have just walked in but she had better morals than that and knocked. From the other side of the door, she heard scrambling before the door opened, revealing Ava armed with her giant novelty pencil.

"So glad you're here!" Ava grinned, gesturing me to enter into the apartment. "Let's investigate!" She pulled Y/n along to the entrance of the Daemos' mini-palace. The two valiantly trudged through the portal and began to look around. After all, the place was basically apart of Ava's apartment which was their home so... they had the right to go and look around, right?

Meanwhile with the Daemos...

There they were, standing the throne room. Well, standing except for Asch; he was sitting on the throne. Rhys stood closest to the prince while the other three Daemos stood further back, Noi looking at his hand lovingly. "What do we do with this new information?" Rhys questioned, looking between the soldiers and the prince, hoping anyone would give an answer.

"What do you mean?" Asch asked.

"Well, we've now discovered that Ava and Y/n are princesses since their fathers are rulers of all humans," Rhys began, "I believe we now have a possible solution to us coming here."

"Court Ava or Y/n." Pierce stated, showing he was paying attention to the matter at hand. Leif and Noi, on the other hand, were off in their own worlds, day-dreaming about the women they had 'gone-on-a-date-with'. Leif had an easier job of hiding how he felt but he just wasn't focused and stared off at times. Noi, however, made it very obvious. His cheeks were coated with an intense blush as he thought of the contact and time spent with Ava.

"Correct," Rhys said, continuing the debate.

Meanwhile with the humans...

"When I see those idiots, I'm gonna stab them with my stabby pencil," Ava declared, re-enacting the stabbing motion to Y/n, "and demand answers! Ava isn't playing around this time." Y/n, who was just a few metres away from Ava, chuckled.

"Why is Ava speaking in third person?" Y/n jokingly questioned, not taking her eyes or hand of the intricate, engraved patterns on the walls. After earning a 'nevermind' from Ava, the two women walked along a red carpet until they reached a divide. To both the left and right, there were stairs, each adorned with the same red carpet. Ava started to rant about how she has been 'blissfully ignorant because of the fact that the [Daemos] are sexy' while Y/n wondered what mysteries lied on the floor above them. Before Y/n could grab the hand-rail and walk up the stairs, Ava grabbed her sleeve and pulled it vigorously like a child asking their mother for the stuff toy in the window of a toy shop. Y/n was then dragged forward to which she stood next to Ava when she stopped. Y/n's jaw dropped at the same time as Ava's novelty pencil.

The walls were the same dark green colour as in the main hall but the room had dozens of quartz features: pillars, interior trim and benches. In the centre of the grand room was an even more grand body of water. It seemed like a pool or hot tub. Around the walls of the pool was a quartz wall. In certain places, there were quartz pedestals with burning candles in golden holders. Quite a few of pillars had gold accents which flattered the room and its cascading water fountain that began from the ceiling. It was really magical.

"T-this is the most beautiful hot tub I've ever seen!" Ava cried, tears of joy streaming down her cheeks. But she stopped, realising something, "Wait, they had a hot tub and they didn't tell me?! Come on, Y/n!" Y/n followed Ava into the room as she went in.

"This is some place!" Y/n spouted, looking at Ava. But Ava failed to notice her. Y/n let out a sigh before tapping Ava shoulder. "Ava, I know how much you love hot tubs so, how about this? I've investigate in the main hall a bit more while you explore this area, okay?" Ava quickly agreed as Y/n left her side and ventured into the main hall.

While Y/n left Ava to her own devices, she had found a hallway near the stair cases. Her being the curious bitch she is, she wandered in, not caring to check her surroundings for the Daemos. As she walked down the hallway it was obvious that no one had been there is years, maybe even centuries! There was dust covering every table and picture frame. Not to mention the hundreds of portraits that decorated the corridor. It was a corridor of history; it was safe to assume Daemos history due to the fact that every painting had people with horns similar to that of her Daemos roommates. She paused when she noticed one painting. It was a painting of a group of Daemos, which was different from the other ones.

There was a mildly tall man sitting on golden throne, wearing luxurious robes crossed with battle gear. He had black hair and navy blue eyes and white horns with a golden ring one of them. He held a stern expression, void of any smile. Beside him stood a beautiful woman with luscious black hair and black eyes that showed so much life. She had different horns: hers were red at the base, fading into white at its tips. She stood proud but with a gentle smile on her face as she held a young boy by his shoulder as he stood in front of her. The boy had black hair and navy blue eyes much like the man on the throne, his face scrunched up in annoyance. In fact, he looked almost identical to him. Y/n assumed that they were related. 'Father and son, maybe?' She thought. Her attention was drawn away from the boy to look at another one. The other one looked familiar to her somehow. He had jet-black hair and just-as-dark black eyes. The boy was sat at the older man's feet in a criss-cross position. The boy was smiling, much like the woman.

Y/n assumed they were related as well but couldn't put her finger on why he looked so familiar. She reached out to touch the boy's face. As soon as her finger touched the canvas, her eyes widened as she was repelled back by a painful ache in her head. She was brought to her knees as her hands made contact with her temple, closing her eyes and praying the pain would go away.

Flashback...

"Stand proud, my darling princess. You don't need to worry, it's only another Daemos kingdom. You are Daemos royalty, you need to fear nothing." A voice sounded. Y/n looked up and saw a woman with blue hair and (e/c) eyes that could enchant.

(Imagine her but with your colour eyes)

"She's right, sweetie. You will be just fine; you are one of the strongest Daemos we both know!" Another voice said. Y/n looked to her left and saw a man with (h/c) hair and blood-red eyes.

(Imagine him but with your hair colour)

Y/n looked around and found out that she was standing in front of a castle in a dress. And she seemed to be younger. At least 8. She noticed the two people walking towards the castle with guards and she decided to follow them because they just seemed so familiar. Soon enough they made it to a great hall. The sides of the hall were guarded by thousands of Daemos soldiers. At the very front of the hall was a black-haired male sitting in a throne with a woman next to him.

'Those two are the people from the portrait! But where are the boys?' Y/n thought, her eyes widening. The guards that accompanied her two company had bowed completely, going on one knee and facing the ground. Meanwhile, her two company had merely bowed by bending. She was quick to catch on and bow in the same way.

"King D/n and Queen M/n, it is an honour to have you here." The man spoke, gesturing that the two in front of Y/n, and including herself, could stand straight.

"The honour is ours, King Havac and Queen Buxia."  The man known as D/n said.

"Did you bring her?" Havac asked, raising an eyebrow. The lady known as M/n nodded her head, putting her hand on Y/n's back and pushing her forward. Y/n didn't know what to do but felt her body moving on its own.

She curtsied and said, "It is a pleasure and honour to be your presence, your Majesties." She didn't know why she said it but she did. She heard an approving hum from in front of her and her body straightened.

"Very polite and respectful, isn't she?" Havac noted, turning to the lady next to him. The female, known as Buxia, nodded.

"I think she will be perfect for our Asch," Buxia said, smiling gently at Y/n. Y/n's eyes widened, revealing their (e/c) colour more than before. 'Asch? What does Asch have to do with this? Is he here? And why would I be perfect for him?' She questioned.

"Well, we'll see what he thinks of her." Havac stated, signalling the guards. Havac's guards approached Y/n and gestured for her to follow them. She looked at her companions hesitantly but, after receiving a nod from both of them, she went along with them. She was guided out of the hall and down a corridor. The corridor was beautifully decorated and there was not a speck of dirt anywhere. Well, there were some specks of violet blood in some places but Y/n not knowing what it actually was thought it was paint. The guards brought her to the entrance of a spell casting room before bowing and leaving her. She was about to leave her spot to find a way to leave when she heard something.

"Stop it, Rhal! Just give it back!" A voice yelled. It came from the inside of the spell casting room. When she peeked from the side of the entrance, she saw the two boys from the portrait except they seemed to be fighting. The older one seemed to be threatening the younger one with an iron sword. The younger one seemed to be hurt with dozens of cuts but he was bleeding purple blood? At this point, Y/n realised that the specks of purple she had seen earlier were blood. She felt sick to her stomach. She felt that, however, it wasn't her place to interfere. She started to turn away.

"I can't believe you're my brother! You aren't even man enough to grab this sword from my hand! Come on, it's right here! Come on, Asch!" Y/n froze. She turned back and realised the younger Daemos was Asch. She didn't know what happened but she felt anger build up inside her. She felt her hands clench and saw them glowing a bright (f/c). The bright light caught the attention of the two boys as they looked to the entrance of the room. All of a sudden, Rhal was sent flying into the wall, knocking him unconscious. Standing in front of Asch was a furious Y/n. Asch looked at her in shock and confusion as she unclenched her fists, the light fading quickly. She turned to the prince.

"Are you okay, your highness?" Y/n felt herself asking as she put her hand out to help him up. The Prince reluctantly grasped her hand and was pulled up. He noticed the girl had a crown-like head-piece across her head and realised she was Daemos royalty, unbeknownst to Y/n.

"I'm f-fine. But how did you do that?" Asch asked. Y/n wanted to say she didn't know but then she said something completely different.

"I had been reading some books on magic and sorcery. Oh, I also trained as a pupil of Lady Grandma." Y/n said.

"Oh? But I've never seen you in the palace?" Asch inquired, eyes shining in curiosity.

"Well, were there times that you didn't see Lady Grandma?"

"Um, yes-"

"Then, she was training me." Y/n said with a cheery smile, making Asch's cheeks shimmer a light pink colour. Y/n didn't know why but she felt as though she was reliving someone's memories. But she didn't know who. "By the way, sorry about your brother. He was just making me mad!" She huffed.

Asch chuckled, "No worries, he'll wake up soon enough. He has a 'thick skull' as he says. And besides he deserved it." He grabbed Y/n's right hand before going on to one knee. He pulled her hand so that he could kiss her knuckles, "I'm Prince Asch, and you, beautiful?"

Y/n felt herself go crazy. Butterflies were flying drunklike in her stomach at the simple action. It was similar to the gesture that Leif had given her, but to her this gesture seemed more grand due to her position. According to King Havac and Queen Buxia, she was perfect for Asch. This kept playing through her head. 'Are they expecting us to get married?' She thought. She once again felt her body move against her control. "I'm Princess Y/n." She said, giving him a polite curtsy.

"Well, Princess, would you like me to show you the castle gardens?" Asch offered, standing up, Y/n's hand still in his grasp.

"That would be lovely, Prince Asch," Y/n felt herself say as she and Asch made their way to leave, leaving through the exit closest to Rhal's body. As they started walking, they let go of each others' hands, Asch slightly ahead of Y/n. As Y/n was going to walk through the exit, she froze, feeling the pain again. She closed her eyes tightly.

End of Flashback...

She opened her eyes. She was back in the corridor. She stood up and finally understood the people in that portrait was Asch's family. Y/n shook her head and looked down the hallway and saw another portrait. By now, she should take initiative and not go to mysterious portraits but she did anyway. She stopped in front of it. At the bottom of the portrait sat a dark oak table that  was the width of the hallway. Dozens, maybe even hundreds, of flowers and treasures were put on it. In the centre of the table, there was a crown.

(Select your crown)

Y/n looked up at the portrait and saw a girl that looked so much like her. The girl was wearing the crown that now sat on a velvety cushion in front of her. The girl had (f/c) horns and she seemed quite young. Y/n looked at an engraved message on a gold plate and it read:

'Princess Y/n of the Crystal Region

She will be dearly missed'

Y/n jerked back when she read that. 'This girl has the same name as me? How? ' She asked herself. Her attention was drawn to the main hall when she heard voices echoing through it. Y/n left the corridor and realised the voices were coming from the 'hot tub area.' She walked into the room only to see Ava in her undergarments and submerged underwater with the Daemos standing with their back to the entrance. Pierce walked into the pool of water and sat next to Ava.

"You're supposed to take off your clothe- You know what, never mind!" Ava said, blushing bright red after realising what that would result in.

"Wow, Ava, didn't realise you were that desperate to see a guy naked. Were the thousands of romance movies and yaoi anime not enough?" Y/n spouted, smirking as she leaned against one of the quartz pillars. Her voice alerted all of the Daemos and Ava of her arrival.

"Gah! Y/n!" Ava squealed.

"Princess Y/n?" The Daemos said.

"Hey guys! Sorry for coming in without telling you. Ava had dragged me into this," Y/n said, earning a glare from Ava, "And part of me was interested in exploring more." Y/n started to take off her socks and roll up her leggings and sleeves. She walked towards the body of water, putting her feet in while sitting at the edge of the pool, behind Ava. Y/n wasn't really keen on showing her body to the Daemos. For Ava, Y/n guessed that she kind of gave up in trying to enforce privacy.

The rest of the Daemos followed into the pool and sat around in a circle, Rhys hesitantly. "So, you guys came here to Earth because, well, when I first met you, you told me that 'Our world is gonna be eaten by a terrible monster and we want to make sure the Earth is good so we can move here,'" Ava mimicked, gaining a chuckle from Y/n, "Right?"

"That is correct," Rhys said half-warily and half-surely.

"But, it's kind of odd you guys haven't mentioned that again in the time I've known you." Ava begins, Y/n understanding what she was saying and continuing for her.

"It sounds kind of urgent, don't you think?" Y/n questions. Rhys struggled to answer.

"It is but we know our kingdom back home can handle the threat," Asch answered calmly. Y/n just kept thinking back to what she had seen in the flashback and the portrait. Noi murmured something under his breath but no one had heard it.

"Hmm, interesting. Why are you guys so off then?" Ava asked the Daemos, Y/n nodding as she had noticed the change in mood too.

"What does that mean?" Leif asked, more towards Y/n than Ava but it was towards them.

"I don't know, you guys just act weird about things that are normal to us. But I guess you're from a different world so I can't really-" Ava contradicted with a laugh.

"We act weird? Ha! Look at yourselves!" Leif challenged, peeking Y/n's interest into the conversation further. Ava let out a 'Huh?' before Leif continued. "You threaten us a lot but you don't actually do things with your magic aside from flash it at us. And with Princess Y/n, she shows amazing physical strength but non of us have actually seen her use magic before our eyes."

"Well, what if, maybe, we think that you guys aren't worth us wasting our magic on, hmm? Ever think of that?" Y/n barked back, angry that her magic was being challenged.

"날 시험하지 마, 공주! (Don't test me, Princess!)" Leif threatened.

"그리고 내가 그렇게한다면? 당신은 그것에 대해 무엇을 할 것입니까? (And if I do? What are you gonna do about it?)" Y/n defended.

"Easy, Y/n!" Ava eased, Y/n calming down and taking her seat.

"I agree with Leif. And why are humans so docile? I haven't seen any of them try to kill each other or us," Asch inquired, rolling his eyes at the petty argument.

"Wow, now that you mention it, you're right!" Noi confirmed.

"I guess because we evolved not to do that kind of stuff?" Ava suggested.

"Don't get us wrong. There are still bad people: criminals, murderers, drug dealers. But I think that most people are actually nice, like Ava and I." Y/n wisely said, "But I guess, we're just lucky enough to not have it as bad as it is."

"Is that not common here?" Pierce asked.

"I mean, it's not," Ava said softly.

"Why are humans so calm?" Noi innocently asked.

"Is your world not as calm as this?" Y/n asked, slightly concerned at the living situations of the Daemos' home.

"No, it's not!" Rhys yelled, startling Y/n, "I mean, uh, why do you think we have a monster trying to devour it?"

"Oh, so you guys are like in the medieval ages?" Ava asked, earning a 'Yes' from Rhys. "You know, you guys really scared my dads."

"And absolutely set off my parents," Y/n added, kicking the water gently.

"Yeah, and I'm positive they're worried about us more than ever," Ava said.

"Is that a bad thing?" Noi asked. Y/n smiled and internally squealed at how cute Noi is. 'He isn;t even sure if this are bad or good. He's like a baby! ' Y/n thought.

"No, but I'm pretty sure they're gonna come around to check on us more often," Ava said.

"They might ask us to meet them somewhere outside too," Y/n suggested, annoyance threading through her voice.

"What are we doing?" Asch asked, earning confused looks from everyone, especially Ava and Y/n. "We aren't talking about anything of use here. This is nonsense and ramble. What use is talking like this?"

"It's what friends do! I-" Ava started laughing but stopped when she realised what she said. Her entire life, the only friends she's had were Y/n and Lorelai, and she only tolerates Lorelai. Was she really friends with the Daemos?

"Are you alright?" Y/n and Pierce asked Ava at the same time, causing them to quickly look at each other and then look at Ava.

"Yeah, just thinking too much about things," Ava stuttered.

"What's this? Ava? Thinking? Heaven forbid! That's awful!" Y/n dramatically said, holding the back of her hand to her forehead and leaning on her other hand for support. Ava gave her a slight glare while the other Daemos reacted to.

Leif chuckled.

Noi giggled.

Pierce smiled.

Rhys gave one chuckle.

And even Asch cracked a smile before realising his question was ignored.

"Shut up, N/n! Noi, how did you like the pizza?" Ava asked.

"Don't ignore my question. I-" Asch started but was interrupted by Noi talking about how much he loved the pizza and how much he would like it again.

"Pizza?" Rhys questioned before his eyes widened and began to sparkle, "Is that like Ice cream?"

"I wouldn't say it's like ice cream but-" Y/n tried to explained but was interrupted by Ava.

"It's better than ice cream!" Ava said joyously as Y/n drew her lips into a thin line. Y/n knew this would tick Rhys off because he absolutely adored ice cream.

"Do not speak such lies!" Rhys said through his gritted teeth.

Ava sensed the anger and tried to ease it down. "I mean, they're both good in their-"

"I will not have this treason speak!" Rhys furiously said as he stood up from his place.

"Oh ho ho ho! (A.N: Santa Claus, that you?) I've never seen Rhys this upset before." Leif commented.

"Treason speak?" Ava and Y/n laughed, but only Ava continued as she stood up and advanced towards the middle of the circle, "Look, I can give you ten reasons why pizza is better than ice cream. One: pizza- ah!" Ava yelled as she face planted right into the water.

Asch and Y/n started to laugh hysterically. The other Daemos were shocked; they had never heard Asch laugh before. "He laughed," Noi said.

Ava rose from her fall, "Shut up!" She ordered. When she saw that neither Asch nor Y/n had stopped, she splashed water at both of them and that stopped them quickly.

"Seriously, Ava! I wanted to stay dry! Why do you think I was sitting on the side and not in the hot tub?!" Y/n raged.

"Well maybe, think twice before you laugh at me!" Ava huffed before crossing her arms and looking the other way. Asch, meanwhile, had just remained silent after the water strike. Soon the rest of the Daemos started laughing.

"Weren't expecting that now, huh?" Leif taunted, making Y/n turn away with a blush of embarrassment on her face.

"It's only befitting since Ava and Y/n are princesses," Rhys stated. Asch ordered the Daemos to be silent. Ava looked between the Daemos before asking why they chose her and Y/n.

"It's a good question to ask. You know there are other humans in our world. Why do you choose to stay with us?" Y/n asked, keeping Ava in tow.

"Because I like you!" Noi said to Ava.

"Oh, please. It's because you're our prisoners." Asch stated confidently.

"I mean, your reactions to us was mild compared to the humans on Daemo-" Leif began but was interrupted by Rhys saving his ass.

"What Leif is trying to say is, it would not be wise of us to make our presence known on E-Urf just yet. You, yourselves, had even advised us against that," Rhys explained.

"I just don't see how moving your world to ours is going to be any better," Ava said in a melancholy tone, making Y/n morph her expression to sympathetic one.

"It must be cool to be a prince and a bunch of well-trained guards in a land full of magic," Y/n said, speaking her mind. "You think you guys can tell us about Daemos and what it's like?"

Just as Noi was about to answer, Asch spoke, "Enough! We are done with this. Stay as long as you want, prisoners. For now, my knights are to retire for the night." Y/n felt a rush of energy: a need to want to ask him about his family. She quickly stood up, grabbed her items and followed the Prince out, leaving Ava to the other Daemos.

She continued to follow the prince until she came across him talking to Rhys. So, she hid behind a nearby pillar, eavesdropping. "One of us is going to slip the truth to Ava and Y/n if we continue to speak to them like that." Asch told Rhys. 'The truth? Is what they told us not true? ' She thought, her eyes widening.

"Which is why they're perfect." Rhys insisted. 'For what? ' "For whatever their reasons, Ava and Y/n are willing prisoners and that helps us. Ava has prolonged her showing how she does magic and Y/n has yet to visually show us her magic. You should ask her about it some time."

"We will conceive tomorrow." Asch said as he walked off towards his sleeping quarters. Rhys said something after the Daemos Prince left but Y/n couldn't hear what he said. She thought that she would put off her questions until later. Just as she was leaving, she felt something pulling her. She allowed the feeling to pull her. It lead her back to the corridor of portraits. As she walked down the hallway, Y/n felt the eyes of the portraits boring holes into her body, heart, mind and soul whatever you can think of. However, her body just kept moving until it got to the portrait of the princess that looked like her and had the same name as her. Y/n looked down and saw her hand reach towards the crown. Her index finger almost caressed the the central gem when she felt a hand on her shoulder.

In the heat of the moment, Y/n spun around, using her right hand to attack, hopefully knocking the person's head to their left and pushing their body with it. But her hand was stopped by another. She looked into the eyes of the person who had put their hand on her shoulder. "Rhys?" Y/n asked. She lowered her hand and Rhys lowered both of his.

"What are you doing here, Lady Y/n?" Rhys asked, a somewhat stern look on his face.

"I don't know. I just felt something pulling me here." Y/n had said.

"Really?"

"Who is she and why does she have the same name as me?" Y/n asked, pointing at the portrait of the princess. Y/n saw Rhys visibly change in expression. His eyes revealed pain, grief, love and guilt.

"That is the young Daemos princess of another kingdom. She was from another kingdom. I had-" But Rhys stopped, as if contemplating what to say. Or what he should say. "S-she d-died, ahem, quite young. As for the name similarity, I am not quite sure."

"You seem to know her." Y/n said. Rhys visibly froze at that. The floor beneath his feet started to freeze and the room seemed colder.

"We were good friends."

"Did the other Daemos know her?"

"Yes."

"What was her-"

"Lady Y/n." Rhys said firmly. "I would like to discontinue this topic of discussion immediately. Come on. Let's go." Y/n was ushered out of the corridor and to the door. There Y/n stood, in front of the exit, Rhys watching her and not leaving until she left. Y/n made her way out but stopped and swiftly turned around and ran. Y/n wrapped her arms around Rhys' torso and embraced him in a hug. Rhys' arms were up, not knowing what to do. "Lady Y/n, what-"

"Rhys, I saw how you felt and I'm sorry if I brought up bad memories. But no one needs to feel that sad alone. So," Y/n looked up at Rhys, putting her dominant hand on Rhys' cheek and pulling his face to face her completely. "If you ever need to talk to someone about anything that worries you, you can come to me. Just tell Ava you're coming to see me and make sure you're wearing your human clothes. Okay?" Rhys' eyes began to tear up as he began to remember how the princess made him feel. He put his arms around Y/n and cried into her shoulder. Y/n rubbed circles on his back to soothe him.

After a few minutes, he stopped crying and pulled away from the hug. Y/n gently grabbed his face in her hands and wiped any loose tears. She, then, did the unthinkable. She pulled his to her level and gently placed a kiss on his nose, causing a bright blush to cross his cheeks. Y/n let go of Rhys before wishing him a good night and leaving to her apartment. Rhys reached up to touch his nose as he remembered the princess. She had done the same thing.

Flashback...

"Happy Birthday, Rhys!" The princess squealed, gripping Rhys in a bone-crushing hug.

"T-thank you, Princess. But I must s-say, I ch-cherish the ability to b-breathe," Rhys politely choked out. At this, the princess let go of Rhys and muttered a sorry, being quickly forgiven. The princess gave Rhys a gift she had got him. He opened it. "No way! You got me a copy of the Journal of Javoc the Slayer and the Journal of Elreid the Healer! I thought that these were treasures of your kingdom? Kept safe in the vault, how did you?"

"I used a copy spell and copied the journals!" The princess had answered, her smile growing bigger by the second seeing her best friend's joy grow every second.

"This is amazing! One of the greatest gifts any Daemos could ask for! Do you know how many tips of magic and fighting are in these journals?! I could become a real master and I could teach you as well. Oh my gosh! This is amaz-!" Rhys started to rant but was stopped when he felt warmth on the tip of his nose. He realised the princess had kissed his nose. At this, his entire face blew up red. The princess pulled away and giggled at Rhys' cuteness.

"I'm glad you liked the gift but I've got to go." Rhys' face remained red but he expressed his annoyance with a pout.

"Must you go?"

"Yes, Rhys! But don't worry, we'll see each other soon." The princess said as she turned and ran off.

"I hope so, Sunshine," Rhys said, love-struck.

End of Flashback...

Rhys was brought back from his vision, smiling in the direction of which Y/n had left. He closed his eyes and started making his way towards his sleeping quarters. Then, he started thinking.

'I trust you, Lady Y/n. '

~~~~~~End of Chapter 18~~~~~~
(A.n: Hey! I'm back! So, apparently, Wifi isn't 100% garanteed in my home country and so I could update but I also got really ill. Anyways, don't forget to comment on any improvements, anything you like about the story, or just comments that come to mind. Like what I do when I have an opinion on some things on other stories - not bad ones! Funny ones. Also, remember to vote if you want more. Thank you!
