Chapter 44- Warmth & Peace

***

"Darling! I'm home," I called, stepping into the house as I handed my coat to the butler of the house and threw my car keys onto the table in the foyer while simultaneously slipping into my slippers.

The sound of running feet was heard and then I looked up just in time to see the figure of my wife running down the marble steps in her bare feet, dressed in a simple yellow sundress that reached her knees.

"Welcome home," She gleamed, jumping into my awaiting arms as I spun us around, enjoying the sound of her sweet laughter as it entered my ears.

We got married nearly a year ago and moved into a large mansion in the middle of a forest for privacy with acres of land to explore. I waited for her to graduate university before proposing and she didn't hesitate to say yes.

After a miscarriage, we found out that Aria was infertile and the shock had broken her, for months she didn't do anything and the days slowly ticked by, she withdrew from society and kept herself locked in her room. Personally, I never really cared for children so it didn't matter to me. But now, she was starting to accept the fact, which I couldn't be more grateful for.

We had a long life to live, just the two of us with nothing but happiness ahead of us.

"What did you do today?" I asked, holding her hand as we walked towards our room.

"I drew some sketches for a building. I'll take it in tomorrow," After graduating, she used her diploma and easily found a good job as an architect which she enjoys doing and with such an influential husband and family, no one dared to hurt her at the workplace.

"How was work?" She asked.

"Tiring," I grumbled, thinking back to all the meetings I suffered through today. Everyone's marketing ideas were getting dryer and dryer by the day that I almost fell asleep in front of everyone today.

"Want me to give you a massage?" I felt my ears perk up at her words and she laughed at my surprised face, closing the door behind her as we walked into the room.

"Do you know how to give a massage?" I asked, throwing my suit jacket over the sofa before going to sit on the bed as she picked up the jacket that I had discarded and neatly folded it.

"How hard can it be?" She asked.

"Come here," I mumbled and she turned her head up to look at me, a grin creeping onto her face as she ran towards me and sat down on my lap. I smiled along with her, not being able to help it as I fiddled with strands of her hair.

"How are you feeling?" I asked, my hand moving to rest on her cheek.

"...Happy," She answered after a moment and I paused, raising my eyes to meet hers, trying to mask the surprise. Before today, every time I would ask her, she would reply with 'Okay,' I wonder what changed?

"I'm happy," She repeated, putting her own hands on my cheeks before leaning down to steal a quick kiss but moved away all too early. "Thanks to you... My amazing husband," My smile widened at her words and I leaned in to kiss her again.

"Now. Lie down on your stomach so I can give you a massage," I was reluctant but not wanting the smile to leave her face, I did as told, holding myself back from jumping her when she helped to unbutton my shirt.

"Don't break my spine or any other bones... please," I unsurely said as she went to sit on my lower back after getting some scented oil, her legs straddling me and I already felt healed just by this position.

"Oh, don't be so dramatic," She slapped my back and I turned to glare at her but she only grinned a cheeky grin in return before continuing with her so-called massage. Her hands starting on my shoulders before starting to go lower.

At first, it was fine and I dare say, relaxing... but I must have let my guard down too early because within a few more minutes she must have become a seductress that loved watching her husband suffer.

"Okay, that's enough massaging. It's my turn to make you feel good," I suddenly said, moving to sit up and she almost fell back but I caught her in my arms and made her straddle me, my hands resting on her hips as I smiled at her blushing face.

"But I wasn't done-" I cut her off, leaning in to catch her lips. She was flustered for a second but quickly melted into my arms, wrapping her arms around my neck as we kissed until I broke it to trail them down to her chin then to her neck, her head fell back and I smirked into her skin, loving the better access.

My hands trailed up her thighs, pulling her dress up and she shivered at the contact, hiding her face in my neck in embarrassment and I laughed, kissing her cheek.

"I love you, Aria. My muse," I whispered, moving my hand away from her legs to trail up her back where I slowly undid the dress, pulling the zip down and the thin straps of the dress automatically fell off her shoulders.

"I love you too," She laughed, moving her head back so she could stare at my face. "And... I always will," She whispered, leaning down to kiss my lips once more while I continued to get rid of her dress before grabbing her waist and flipping us over so that I hovered over her.

Undoing my belt, my pants followed the pile of discarded clothes on the floor and eventually, the rest of our clothes added themselves onto the pile as I pulled the blanket up to cover our bodies, aware of how shy she was.

Her arms hung around my neck while I kissed, bit and sucked her neck, cherishing the cute sounds that left her throat while moving our bodies together, my hand resting on her thigh while the other hand stayed on her waist.

Eventually, we both lay naked under the covers, her head resting on my chest as I played around with her long hair, hearing the sound of her even breathing, signalling that she was close to falling asleep.

"Aria..." I called.

"Hm..." She replied tiredly.

"Why do you love me?" I asked.

At my words, she moved her head to look up at me, rubbing the tiredness in her eyes and opening her mouth as she yawned. "Because..." She started, blinking the tiredness away while her hand rested on my cheek.

"...You're you. No one can replace you... There are no two same people in the world and I was lucky enough to find the only person that could ever succeed in making me as happy as you have... That's why I said I love you. Because I love you and I'm thankful that you love me back," And then she moved to kiss my lips tiredly and I kissed back, smiling at her words.

Moving her head to rest on my chest once more, a yawn escaped her throat, signalling that she was close to falling asleep.

"And... You are my warmth," She added.

I paused in fiddling with her hair as I heard her words.

"Then... You are my peace," I replied.

I was her warmth just as she was my peace.

Each of us needed the other. And nothing could change that.
