Chapter XII

News came from the Southwest, from Akhens, from Friedrich's fief. It was said the fief was semi-constantly raided by the deceased baron's followers. He could not return and solve that in person, as that would take roughly a month to go there, then he would possibly return in two other months; way too much time he could use have used to go to Carian and meet with his sister.

He dispatched the messenger back to the fief to tell Charles to keep defending the fief as best as he could and also try to eliminate them if possible. The group later resumed the journey and rode their horses their way to Carian for around five days, obviously with pauses.

They finally got there and later began searching for Anna. It took them around three hours to find her.

"Anna, my sister!" Friedrich yelled as he ran towards Anna and hugged her. The group followed him.

"Friedrich!" Anna hugged him then looked at the rest and said "Who are they?"

The group stated who they were, then later Anna asked his brother "Why are you here, brother?"

"Well, you see, do you remember the box our father gave you to keep?" Friedrich asked her.

"Mhm, I do remember that." She nodded with her head then added "Why do you ask?"

"I need it. It is pretty important, Annie."

"It is in my house, follow me. Though, you must explain why is it so important for you." Anna said as she began walking, and the group followed her.

"I will tell you later, Annie."

"All right, if you say so, Fried."

After some minutes of walking they finally got to her house, which was inside the city and seemed cozy. Anna told them to sit down and gave them to drink water.

"Nice house you have, Anna." Akan said as he looked around.

"Thank you, Akan." She then took a seat and asked his brother "Where were you all this time, Fried?"

Friedrich responded to her "I was in Annesiov. I have some influence over the duke of Aesiar, which is the one who governs that city in the Tsar of Akhens' name. I also was named baron of some fief."

"That is great to hear. Maybe you could reestablish our house in Akhens and make it as powerful as it was in Brandeburg." Anna said then took a sip from a mug.

"I was also planning to take you back to Akhens, so you maybe could help me."

"With helping you mean me marrying someone who is part of a powerful noble house, no?" Anna asked Friedrich.

Friedrich nodded then took a brief moment before saying "Would you accept that?"

Anna shrugged as she said only one word "Perhaps."

They later ate a delicious meal made by Anna with the help of the sisters, Melissa and Leah. Anna later gave Friedrich the mysterious box and told him that he would accompany him.

They sold the house some days after that and later departed and began making their way back to the fief.
