Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Kageyama

I begin to head back to the club room for my stuff, but a hand grabs my shoulder and stops me.

"Kageyama-san, can we talk for a moment?"

I follow Sawamura-san back into the gym until he stops just a ways past the door.

"Kageyama-san, are you doing alright? You have been seeming really down lately and your focus elsewhere. It is affecting your playing as I'm sure you noticed today. You know you can always talk to me if something is wrong right?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just haven't been getting good sleep lately. I will try my best to get better rest so that my playing reflects well." I lie, almost too easily as it seeps past my lips.

"Okay, not convincing enough, but clearly you won't say anything. If something is wrong, try to talk to someone you really trust. Once you get some things off your chest it just feels better. At least try, alright?" Jeez, he read me almost too simply.

"Okay Captain."

I walk off towards the club room again, grabbing my stuff. As I walk out and back towards the school gate, I see Hinata waiting for me. A small smile appears on my face, but I quickly let it fall, putting my guard back up.

"Hey Kageyama! What took so long? I saw you talking to Daichi-san so it must have been important. I waited so long for you though. You're kinda slow you know." He laughs.

"You are so annoying, dumbass, let's head home now." I say walking past the small carrot top.

"Wait up, Bakayama!"

"What did you call me?!"

"Nothing, nothing, haha, let's just go now."

After we walk for some time, I start to feel water droplets hit my head. Looking up, I see large dark storm clouds opening up and begin pouring water on our heads.

"Shit, it's raining! Oi, dumbass, do you have an umbrella?"

"No, do you?"

"No, that's why I asked! C'mon, there is a covering just ahead there. We will just wait it out a bit."

We run over to the small awning and stand under it, out of breath. I hear chattering and look over to see Hinata shivering. Sighing, I pull off my jacket and wrap it around the smaller boy. It's pretty big on him, the bottom of the jacket reaching almost mid-thigh on him. Him wearing my clothes is one of the cutest things I have ever seen. Stop, don't think like that right now...

His shivering has now gone down a bit and he looked up at me with those huge brown eyes.

"Thanks Kageyama, but what about you? What if you catch a cold because I have your jacket?"

"I will be fine, stop worrying dumbass."

Hinata

"I will be fine, stop worrying dumbass."

The rain continues to pour down outside the awning.

"Well...I do worry." I say as quietly as possible, almost no sound escaping my lips.

"You shouldn't."

He heard that???

"I meant what I said earlier, about trying to get you to open up to me. Why won't you? Do you not trust me? I really thought we were close, you know?" I say with a light tone, not wanting to provoke him. He sighs and stares off into the distance. Something in his expression looked different then I had ever seen it before. I don't exactly know what to make of it. He looked very sad and lost, a touch of anger possibly, but overall, looked incredibly numb, like he could let go of the world and be fine with it. I want him to be able to talk to me, but I can't force that.

"I-" He sighs and hesitates, as if he doesn't know what to say or where to start. "I do trust you. More than anyone. But...hm...there are things better left unsaid, I think."

"...okay. I will let you open to me on your own time. But so you know, I would never judge you for anything you feel. You can tell me anything, you can trust me."

I almost don't know if my eyes are tricking me or not, but his face flushed pink and the corners of his mouth upturned ever so slightly, only to fall almost as quickly as it happened. I looked out to see the rain slowing to a stop.

"Hey, guess the rain has stopped. Um, Hinata?" Kageyama says, hesitating.

"Yeah, what's wrong?"

"Nothing, it's nothing...well, fine. Do you want to, maybe, come spend the night at my house? You're still soaking wet. You can clean up and borrow some of my clothes if you would like..."

His face is a deep red as he says these words. I chuckle lightly, blushing a bit myself.

"Yeah, sounds cool! I suppose it is a weekend night. Let me message my mom." I say, smiling up at him. I swear he turns redder than he already is.

"Oh, okay." He returns a small smile to me. My eyes widen and my cheeks flush again. "What's with that face?" He says. Shoot.

"You just...smiled, again today."

"Huh...What! No I didn't! Dumbass, your eyes must not work today." Blushing, he turns away and begins walking the way towards his house. So cute.

"Wait for me! You're always leaving me behind!"
