Chapter 9: Kidnapping

Thank you for reading, it's really nice to know people enjoy it, and please leave votes for your support, or comments. 😁

A week had passed since the prank, nothing big happened, the Bat team just patrolled at night including Kim, and stopped many robberies and molesting, nothing to do with supervillains. It was honestly the most productive and relaxing moment of Jaylin's life, but now she had other things to worry about.

"Why are we here again?" Jason whined as he and his sister walked through all the shops, why do women have to be like this? They never stop.

"They may be family, but still you need to look presentable," she answered.

"It's not 'till for a few more months, why now?"

"Because these are my last two days of break, and would you like to go through this torture again in the future right before Christmas? Plus I need clothes too."

"No, it's Christmas but, if I suffer why aren't you suffering with me?"

"Because I have friends who will make sure I have something presentable on. They are worse than me," Jaylin visibly shuddered at the thought of Jenny and Danny together, working, to 'help' her look presentable. Jaylin brought out a phone and showed him a picture of a brown jacket, blacktop, and black jeans. The look made her look professional.

"Why not a dress?" Jason questioned.

"Because they take too long," a lie, but he doesn't know that.

Jason thought for a moment, "it's too mature, why do you look more like the older sibling."

Without missing a beat she answered him, "because you act like a kid. You're too immature."

"Am not!" Jason argued with a harsh glare aiming at his sister but also at the same time scaring the people around them.

"Are too!" Jaylin retorted with the same level glare.

"Am not!" He continued.

"Are too!" She said.

"Am not/are too!" They yelled at the same time continuing for some seconds.

"Uh, excuse me," said a small voice from next to them. They whipped their head towards the sound, the glare never left their expressions. The clerk was really intimidated by not only the male but also the female, "p-please don't f-fight or we'll have to ask you to leave for disturbing the customers."

Jason looked about ready to shout at the clerk without realizing it, Jaylin stepped in, "of course." She looked around the tailoring shop and at the clerk with a gentle smile, "really sorry for the disturbance my brother and I caused."

The clerked blushed forgetting that Jaylin was a girl, "no-no problem." Then the female clerk walked away, red face still present which would or wouldn't, later on, be teased by her co-workers.

As Jason was about to tease Jaylin about 'having fans' the news came on, "there have been video and vocal conformations for the people she has saved that there is indeed a new female vigilante in Gotham. It seems that she is the partner of Red Hood the crime boss, and anti-hero of Gotham. From what we have gathered, this new vigilante's name is Kim. It was been found out that this vigilante has solely helped with the recovery of children from child trafficking rings from a few months ago, helping the children return to their rightful homes."

Jason slightly bummed onto Jaylin's shoulder teasingly, "someone's popular." The people in the background who heard her thought they were talking about the female clerk.

Jaylin didn't show her reaction even though she was bushing inside, "I don't care. Though I wished I stayed in the background," she lowly confessed as she looked for more suits for her brother.

The Todd siblings walked out of the tailor shop with a striped shirt, knee-ripped jeans, and a brown jacket. Jason was surprised by her choice as they were walking on the street. He openly voiced it out, "I thought you wanted this to be formal."

"But, it doesn't mean you have to be uncomfortable," she added to his statement.

The elder sibling checked out the younger's choice of clothing, "not back taste. You might become my second favorite little sister?"

"Whose the first?" Jaylin asked.

"Cass," he answered without hesitance.

Jaylin thought for a bit, "agreed. You're my second too."

"To who? I'm usually always the first," Jason said cockily.

Jaylin was coming up with a fast response, "actually, your third. Right after Luca and Leo."

Jason mock offense placed his hand on his heart, "that's offensive. Me being in second place is bad, me being in the third, I'm probably gonna be sick and think you're mental."

Jaylin laughed at her brother's antics, "sure whatever you say."

They reached home and stayed for a few hours. Jason didn't have work or patrol that day so he stayed over. Jaylin collected her running gear and started to head out, "where are you going?" Jason asked from the couch which was facing the door.

"For a run," she said.

"In Gotham? At night?" He asked skeptically brotherly instincts taking over, "it's dangerous."

Jaylin shrugged nonchalantly, "you know I can protect myself. Come on, what's the worse that could happen?" She asked.

Jason panicked, "if you aren't backing down I'm coming with. You doomed yourself you said 'what's the worse that could happen'. Those are famous last lines." Jason rushed to his room to get changed before meeting his sister at the door before going on the run. "I'll say 'I told you so' if we get into any trouble or close to dying."

Jaylin chuckled, "I'll say 'in your face' if nothing happened. Deal?" She asked stretching out her hand.

"Deal," her brother said accepting the handshake.

Jaylin and Jason -the man reluctantly- left the loft. They ran around the neighborhood listening to music and enjoying their time together, but unknowingly let down their guards. As they ran they were listening to music causing them to not pay attention to their surroundings and that they had entered Crime Alley. Two men came out from an alley placing a cloth with knocking-out chemicals (halothane) in them on Jaylin's mouth and nose aiming to well, knock her out. Jason was also a target but they didn't min being rougher as they hit his head twice knocking him out cold. These guys were big, Jaylin wasn't prepared she didn't have her full strength to break out from the guy's grasp as she just finished her run. The only thing she could hope for was luck, luck that she would escape wherever she was going.

Slowly, a little amount of light that was available returned to her eyes. Remembering the previous events, her eyes shot open.

The scene in front of her was dark, black. Not much could be seen, as Jaylin tried to rub her eyes, she finally felt bonds on her wrists. Why would they need these strong bonds on her she didn't know. Jaylin examined the room, her eyes slowly adjusting to the darkness.

3 small windows too high above to climb, it looked like some sort of warehouse, beside her, lied her elder brother, him also in bonds but more

.-. ..- -. / --. --- (run, go) Jaylin continuously tapped her leg hoping Jason knew morse code too so they wouldn't be caught by the goons. Once he had finally caught on he let out a cough indicating he understood her but wouldn't comply. .-.. . .- ...- . (leave) she tapped repeatedly 3 times before changing, .... --- --- -.. / -. . . -.. . -.. (hood needed).

Jason was reluctant to leave his sister but knew she was right, there were civilians around there too. He had a better chance of escaping due to his experience, the others including herself would be dead weight, she knew it, he knew it. Jason slipped into the shadows, his restraints untied on the floor to not be tracked just in case. As the door opened Jason slammed it shut, hitting the first guy's face, knocking him out, well that we easy. Now for the second part which was the second goon, Jason grabbed the muzzle of riffle twisting it, the goon let go, Jason then delivered a kick to the groin making the goon double over so he took that moment to knock him out. He then dragged both bodies inside after making sure they wouldn't wake up any time soon. After checking the corridors he looked at his little sister who was still tied up, he knew the consequences of leaving her here. Jaylin nodded him to go, he needed to, he had a higher percentage. Reluctantly, he left.

Jaylin sat there staring at the bodies of the knocked-out goons, letting out a sigh, she waited for the consequences of her decision.

"Well, let's see if our guests of honor are awake yet, shall we?" Joker cackled, his voice getting closer by the second. Jaylin hit a pressure point to leave her body in a sleep-like mode but leave her mind wide awake. She listened to his footsteps stop as the door opened. "Where's the other one!" Joker yelled at -probably- the goons behind him.

"We don't know sir," they replied shakily.

Joker stopped letting out sounds like his 'happy' but the menacing voice rang throughout the room again, "never-mind him, we have our main treat! Jason Todd's sister! The new Wayne!" He then laughed, only a tiny bit of sanity could be heard. So he wanted Jason, registered Jaylin. "Wake her up boys!" Joker ordered with a loud voice.

Jaylin not being able to see, wasn't prepared when water was dumped onto her, "that fuck motherfuckers?!" She yelled. Looking up through her wet hair, she saw a man with messed up white painted around his face along with no eyebrows, a large grinning face, and green hair. Some fear slipped into her expression being unprepared by his appearance. Forcing her expression slip to go back to normal she said in a nonchalant voice, "so you're Joker."

"A goodie, you know me. Now let's have a little talk before batman comes to ruin all the fun!" He said happily psychopathically. Joker grabbed onto Jaylin's trapezius, hard, his nails dug under her skin slowly, her face contorted into pain but wouldn't let a sound out. Joker saw her expression and smiled wider and threw her onto the floor.

Jaylin spit on Joker's shoes, "fuck you asshole."

"Hey, girl! Show some respect to your elders," Joker snarled.

"I give respect to those who deserve it, not an old pussy," Jaylin growled at the mad man.

"Which you don't," a goon interjected.

"Asshole, who invited you to this conversation? This is an A-B convo, C yourself out," she snapped.

"You dare-" the goon began.

Jaylin snorted stopping the goon from talking further, "I'm doing you a favor by showing how really stupid you are by stopping you there. You don't need to make yourself believe you're important because everyone knows you aren't."

Not only the goons but Joker laughed, "Joker, I don't get how this is funny, she's making herself seem important."

"I sorta am since I was kidnapped, you're not," Jaylin snapped, again. Joker brought down a crowbar, Jaylin dodged by rolling to the side, "what is your problem."

"Goons, out," Joker ordered, the goons followed. "Even if I love your mouth," Joker stated bringing down the crowbar again, hitting her side not letting her time to dodge, "I still hate your brother and family," he continued bringing the crowbar down in the same place.

A displeasing sound of bones cracking entered her hearing. Spitting some blood out Jaylin looked at Joker, "I hate you."

Joker continued to hit her with the crowbar grinning widely as blood flew into every single direction, even onto his face. Once he stopped, Jaylin had lost feeling from around her body. Numb, was the only word to describe it. Her breath was ragged and really loud. "Goons come in here!" Joker shouted. "Strip her then restrain her," he ordered as he walked out somewhere.

The goons followed the orders, Jaylin resisted as much as possible shouting out for Jason or Hood weakly "Jason, Jason~ Hood~ help." The goons on the head and punched her sides and stomach. They smiled at her groan of

"Boss, she knows Hood!" a goon reported.

"We'll kill her in front of him!" he informed.

As they finished, only a few pieces of clothing were on her body, her bra, and her underwear. Joker returned with a bucket of water, a rag, and a piece of iron. He placed the rag onto Jaylin's face, she squirmed trying to get it off. They were planning on doing waterboarding, the sensation of drowning. A lot of stress built up inside her body. Once the bottle of water was fully gone, after a second they removed the rag her eyes were dilated, she was breathing heavily, while harshly coughing out water that was plastered against her lungs. "You're sick," she choked out.

Joker smiled, "no, you, my dear, are the sick one here."

A few minutes prior he had told a goon to heat up branding iron, now in his hand, was a burning branding iron. "No, no, no!" Jaylin screamed as she struggled to get away knowing what his plan was, her body was being pinned down by the goons, her mouth was held put so she wouldn't be able to bite anything or even her tongue, overall 4-5 men were holding her down.

She gritted her mouth as best as she could not giving into fear as the heat neared evaporated the water near her face until it was on her. Of course, it hurt, but Jaylin wasn't allowed to scream as the goon held her mouth shut. If her mouth wasn't shut, batman could have probably heard her screams from inside the Bat cave. The ones, holding her in place and Joker laughed at her screams, this was her breaking point. "Just like your brother, so stubborn. And you're going to die just like him," Joker taunted. Jaylin's eyes brimmed with tears stared at Joker complete with hate, detest, and mostly rage.

The branding iron was on her cheek for 1 minute, it usually took 5-10 seconds to finish a branding process but Joker chose to keep it on some extra time enjoying Jaylin's screams of pain and agony, he laughed every time he looked at her. As soon as she got tired, the body stopped resisting as did her heart shakily try to regulate the blood as it normally did. She was out cold. "That's no fun," Joker pouted like a child as he brought back the branding iron and ordered his goons to bring more water.

◊◊◊

Batman and his team were on top of the warehouse Nightwing had to hold Red Hood back as Batman held Robin with half the force as the younger was more rational but was still raged by the scene. They arrived when Joker places the branding iron on her face. Red Hood had tears leaking from his eyes under his red helmet as he watched his little sister scream in pain and agony. He saw her breaking point, her being half-naked, her being bloodied, her being broken, her being touched, her being branded, he wasn't with her, he could have taken the pain, he could have been there for her, he could of- he could have denied her order, he should have been the one in pain, he should be the one hurt, not her. This was his fault, he thought.

They had to wait until Joker was away from Jaylin as he could use her unconscious body as a hostage. Once Joker had ordered his goons to bring more water, he went jumping and dancing around happily yelling/singing around that he had caught Jason Todd's sister, the new Wayne, and the new birdie.

The bat clan's face twisted into anger. The ones who had better emotion checks kept their expressions secret, Red Robin and Batman. Sure, Red Hood, had a mask and people couldn't see his expression but the vibe of being angry and enrage was leaking from his body, not even bothering to stay hidden.

As the goons were out of the room, the bat family crashed through the windows. Jaylin's eye caught the red bucket helmet and smiled weakly before losing full consciousness again.

Red Hood was mad. Not only were there more civilians in the warehouse but they also kidnapped his sister. Raising his gun which was supposed to be full of real ammo but denied by Batman, he aimed it at Joker, "you're gonna die."

◊◊◊

Jason was in her emergency contacts, recently added. Of course, the medics called him but he couldn't respond as he was busy with Red Hood's business. Red Hood tried his best to finish them faster so he could join Jaylin. The medics didn't want to risk it by taking responsibility but Dr. Roberts stepped up, he offered to take full responsibility if anything went wrong. And with that, the surgeons, doctors all moved to the surgery room. Dr. Roberts has a close relation with Dr. Leslie and knowing that somehow the two had gotten close, he called her to inform her about Jaylin's condition. It wasn't a surprise that Dr. Leslie didn't have much of a reaction based on what she had seen in prior years. Dr. Leslie had told Dr. Roberts that she could call Jaylin's family to sort this out. They hung but after saying a 'thank you' and a 'bye see you later'.

Once Jason's Red Hood business was over and finished his conversation with Dr. Leslie about Jaylin's condition, he went straight to the hospital to find out how everything went. He went to check on the surgery, the bills, everything. The one who took responsibility was Dr. Roberts who was his sister's teacher, if he hadn't stepped in and forced the surgery, Jaylin would have died. Jason was happy no doubt, he kept on saying thank you as tears of relief slipped through his eyes as he heard she would recover well. He was glad and knew his sister would be as well when he heard the brand on her cheek would only leave a large scar when a cosmetic surgeon removed it.

Jason was calling Leo and Luca, her other unofficial brothers, with who he had come to be acquainted, informing them of what happened to their unofficial sister.

"Hey, what's up?" Leo sounded concerned through the phone

"You usually call us at night, what happened?" Luca clarified for his friend.

Wow, they know her well. Jason took in a deep breath, preparing himself to explain what happened to them, the shorter version, not vigilante related either, "Jaylin ... she was kidnapped and wounded by ... Joker," at the mention of the criminal's name, eh unconsciously let out KI (killing intent). "She's in the hospital right now, unconscious but I think she would like for you guys to come and visit."

Both guys knew who Joker was and on the other line, they were horrified at the news and immediately explain to their friends from those countries what happened, excusing themselves from physically going to classes/work. They bought the earliest tickets to America. Leo's plane would arrive faster than Luca's even if he was closer. The Spanish airport was fully for two days they had to squeeze Luca in, Portugal was busy but not by much as they only had one day fully booked.

In the country of Portugal, the city of Lisbon University, Leo ran out of the room, dodging whoever was in his way running home. Once Leo got to his apartment he got his suitcase and packed his clothing. He explained everything in bullet points to his roommate who was in the same major as he was in and asked him to tell the teachers. His roommate thankfully didn't reject his plea for a favor when he saw the desperation and worry on his friend's face.

Leo quickly took a taxi to the airport asking the driver to hurry up as the boarding was quickly arriving. He gave everything he didn't need to the airport attendants and made his way through the empty gate and into a plane full of people.

In Spain, Luca didn't have a choice but to wait for his plane. In advance, he coincidently and unknowingly booked a room in the Wayne hotel. Luca lied on his bed arms covered his eyes, his girlfriend by his side. She asked what was wrong and he answered her truthfully. Maria, his girlfriend comforted Luca as best as she could knowing the pain of the chance of losing their siblings. Even though her siblings were missing, their bodies weren't found so there was a chance they were still alive meaning she wouldn't stop until she found them.

◊◊◊

Leo came into the room with Dick who had offered him a ride in place of Jason. Concern was etched on his facial expression as he saw his conscious, wrapped in bandages best female friend. "Are you ok?" He asked.

"Why are you here?" Jaylin asked in fake annoyance with a hoarse voice as she had just woken up. She was actually glad that one of her longest friends was here with her.

"Shut up," he answered with a glare.

Jaylin suppressed her smile, "you love me."

"Is being cocky infectious?" A small voice said which was ignored by the two old friends.

Leo groaned before his eyes and voice were overflowed with concern, "seriously though, are you ok. You're usually not the one on the deathbed."

Jaylin contemplated if she should joke or not. "Excluding the fact, I was taken by Joker, beat up by a crowbar to a pulp, the excruciating pain, almost died... Yeah, I'm fine," she answered with a smile and a small laugh.

Leo was shorter than the average male population height, around Tim's height. His clothing matched him, he wasn't all that confident but cute, and he looked like a normal male with natural dark blue hair and brown eyes. He blended in with a person who goes every day in normal life.

Leo stared at her blankly, "If you're using dark humor, it means you're really ok. Good to know."

"Is that a blood thing?" Dick asked louder in the sea of silence since Leo had entered.

"What?" Leo asked finally noting another presence, "who are you?"

"Her blood brother's adoptive brother. Is it a blood thing, the dark humor, Jason has it too," Dick told Jaylin's friend keeping him updated.

Leo looked at Jaylin with mischief eyes, "totally, her dark humor appeared when she was only 13."

"I don't use it that much," she grumbled.

◊◊◊

"Luca," Jaylin said excitedly(?) as he spontaneously hugged her from behind her wheelchair. Luca in all his glory, bright yellow hair, and eyes, bad boy style clothing even though he was a ray of literal sunshine. His personality and height were similar to Dick's they could be twins if it weren't for their origin or hair and eye colors.

"Why are you here?" Jaylin asked in fake annoyance.

Luca was almost instinctively going to answer with a 'shut up' but before the words came out, he paused. Leo had probably already visited since his plane was ahead of his own. Jaylin smirked when she noticed he realized what she wanted, though she didn't want to tease him about it if he didn't, "...you did that to Leo, didn't you?"

"...How'd you get her to hug you?" Danny asked in disbelief interrupting the conversation and staring at the scene before him, explaining further, "she isn't a hugger. Last time I tried she judo flipped me, even on that chair," he then stated his name, "Danny, by the way."

"Best work friend. And for your information, the hugging thing is new. It took 2 years for her to stop flipping me, and another 2 for her to let me hug her."

Danny winced looking at him with sympathy, "that's gotta hurt dude, I feel sorry for you."

Luca waved him off, "don't worry about it. I'm over it."

◊◊◊

This time the Wayne family met both Jaylin's unofficial brothers. "I'm Luca, he's Leo."

"My name's Bruce Wayne. My eldest, Dick, Jason, Tim, and Damian," Bruce introduced each of his family members. His name wasn't recognized by the two foreigners.

"So you're Jason." Leo said as approached he observed Jason's frame head to toe, "so look just like her only male version."

"She looks like me, just the female version," Jason corrected.

Luca looked at Jason as if seeing his soul, causing the younger guy to look uncomfortable. Luca looked at Leo who had the same idea as him, "yeah, you definitely share blood." Luca turned his attention to the patient, "anyway I got you a present."

Jaylin tilted her head waiting as Luca showed her a picture of a beau Kangal. It was Luca's early birthday present for her as extra protection after the Joker incident. He knew she was a good fighter but you can never be too safe. His name was Dexter Luca informed and he arrived 2 days after the quarantine was over and checked by the veterinarian, you know the normal procedures.

"You got me a fucking Kangal?!" Exclaimed Jaylin excitedly, she would have jumped up and tackled Luca but she was stuck in a chair so the best she could do was just grab his arms pulling him in to hug him from behind saying repeatedly and finally once acting her age, "thank you!"

Leo looked at Luca in disbelief and shouted pointing accusingly at the younger girl, "you made her even more deadly."

The people surrounding them -doctors and nurses- who met with Jaylin every day gasped, "she hugged you," they said and repeated, "she hugged you, her, Jaylin. The world is about to end," they said in a creepy unison voice.

"I've only hugged her twice, it was nice but I started it, both times," Jason admitted continuing on the topic.

"I've never hugged her," many exclaimed.

Leo smiled teasingly at the youngest in the room, "she may look like and seem an annoying bitch but in reality she-"

"Will kill you all and no one would be able to find your bodies," Jaylin interjected Luca's sentence threatening everyone. They nodded, even the ones who were probably stronger than she still cowered under her wolf glares. "Now, shoo, back to work," she ordered them as they followed realizing that it was still working time.

Jaylin grabbed onto Leo's sleeve pulling him down and punched his leg. Leo immediately felt the pain and cried out, "what was that for?!"

"For being Leo," Jaylin answered. Luca on the side was bouncing his shoulders up and down suppressing a laugh knowing that if he let it out, Leo could and would do anything to embarrass him in front of his girlfriend. "You know it's been years since we've seen each other and mostly nothing has changed."

By this point, the people who weren't part of their trio group walked out of the hospital room realizing that this was the first reunion of the three. The look in all three's eyes showed that they haven't met in years, so they let them have their privacy.

Leo added to that sentence after the last person left the room, not paying attention to the pain on his leg as it was forgotten, "except that you aren't a 13-year-old little midget who can kick our 17-year-old asses but an 18-year-old woman who can kick our 22-year-old asses. How do you do it by the way."

Jaylin seriously contemplated kicking their asses right now because of Leo's retort and Luca's laugh but let it slide surprising the two who have known her the longest, "I'll let it slide since you called me a woman. Kickboxing."

Luca was surprised, "if that was all it took for you not to hit us I should've used that sooner." Jaylin's patience died as she punched Luca in the face not enough to bruise but enough to hurt.

Leo who watched them, "it's been 5 years and you still don't learn."

"You haven't either," Luca sassed indicating the incident that had happened not too long ago, only a few minutes. Leo's face flushed as he went to launch himself onto Luca as the said boy did the same. Jaylin watched the two from her chair thinking back to those times when they were still in high school.

Luca went back to his hotel after sharing his experience with his new girlfriend. True, they could have chatted on the phone but it had been so long since they'd seen face to face. So basically, Luca's girlfriend was recently labeled as an orphan, even if she was already an adult. She wasn't the only child as she had two little siblings, a brother, and a sister who went missing right after they were put into an orphanage because the court claimed she couldn't take care of the children. Maria along with Luca's help look for them. Jaylin offered to help so they gave her a photo in case she sees them on the streets.

As for non-personal life, Luca had finished studying in uni studying Environmental Engineering gaining his bachelor's degree. Even though Spain isn't on the list of 'Which country is best for environmental engineering?' He missed his home country and went back to study there.

Leo went back after sharing his time and experience in Portugal, he didn't have anything interesting except for living his life daily and that the people there were creepily extremely nice and helped out when he had troubles which he immediately corrected when it happened a second time. He went to law school after finishing his undergraduate studies. Even though he was shy, law and debates were the areas where he was best in. Back in school, whenever they had debated, Leo's side would win because of him even though straight after he would become pessimistic and clench his chest dramatically saying how it went 'horribly wrong'.

Yes, the trio group all aimed for difficult and high spots but they were succeeding and progressing so, no harm no foul.

The Wayne family had entered causing Jaylin to go through traditions. "Why are you here?" Jaylin asked in fake annoyance towards her blood brother.

"Shut up," he answered with a glare.

Jaylin kept her blank face as she said her next lines, "you love me."

The Wayne family watched the interaction amusingly as the hard-stone-cold Jason was not affected by his sister's words. Their eyes moved from Jaylin to Jason and Jason to Jaylin, repeatedly. Jason groaned rolling his eyes with his arms crossed, "no I don't."

"Ya do. Now come on, I'm hungry," Jaylin said whiningly.

"Alright, want Dick to bye you McDs," Jason suggested causing the mentioned person to look up in confusion.

"Food, here we come!" Jaylin said cheerfully pointing towards the door as if using a sword.

"You're staying here, plus you're such a kid," Jason commented the last part out loud.

"I'm not, I'm just hungry," Jaylin argued sending him a ⅓ of her glare.

"Whatever," he said shrugging it off knowing that she wasn't seriously angry.

"Jerk," she started.

"Asshole," he continued.

"Son of a bitch."

Jason agreed that his mother was a bitch but still sassed, "we have the same mother."

Jaylin pointed at herself before at her brother, "rubber, glue. Look it up."

"What do I look like? A computer?" He then asked clearly knowing the meaning.

"No. You're dumb, the reason why you look it up," the youngest shrugged.

Jason stared at his sister, "no comment."

"Guys, stop," Dick spoke/whined first breaking up the Todd siblings 'argument' as the other family members weren't willing to, too amused by the show they provided. Tim got popcorns and was surprisingly sharing it with the child dubbed 'demon spawn'.

The Todd siblings looked at each other and shared a look of mischief. Dick didn't catch on as the other did so they were delighted by the next few seconds that happened. They replied in unison "fine."

"I swear you two could be twins," he said shaking his head smiling at the two.

"It's a possibility," not really, he was still 2 years older than her, that wouldn't change.

"Okay... weird~," Dick dragged the word staring at the scene in front of him. Bruce knew what the siblings were doing, he had experienced it with other groups of people. Dick should know it too but it seems to have slipped his mind.

"We know," the siblings both saw amusement and mischief in the other eye, it motivated the other to continue.

"Okay, now it's getting creepy," he admitted the other two guys in the room nodded in agreement concern in their facial expressions.

"Hn," they said together copying Jaylin's verbal tick.

"Stop it, seriously," Dick asked more sternly, (sorta) joining in on their conversation.

The 2 year apart siblings looked in his direction, "sure," they replied with a shrug.

Dick yelled exasperatedly "I said stop!" It was getting really, really strange.

"We can't help it," they answered looking at the other.

Dick watched the two in front of him, one to the other before finally throwing his arms up in the motion of defeat, "fine, whatever, you win."

"Nice," they both commented high-giving the other.

"I said you win! Stop it!" Dick continued to shout still creeped out by the mischief and evilness of their voices together.

"We can't!" They defended the other.

Dick groaned loudly, "gah!"

The two-year-apart siblings laughed as if they haven't laughed in ages. This would be a great way to annoy people, their specialty -mostly Jason's. The other guys in the room also chuckled as they weren't the direct victims but stand-by enjoying the show.

For the next few months, they were spent on healing both physically and emotionally for Jaylin. Even though she acted as if she was fine and claimed the scars were only physical, she was hurt emotionally too; humiliation, pain, trauma was scared deep in her soul which would open every night. These scars were hard to accept and denied, causing so much pain in the process. This is another reason as to why Jason and Jaylin were twins, they didn't like pity or help and were suborn as fuck until they died, maybe a little before.

◊◊◊

In Crime Alley, there was a teenage-looking girl and a younger boy. The elder looked at a younger boy sympathetically, "Sam, sorry we won't have any scraps tonight."

Sam looked up at the elder girl, "don't worry, I think I can last another day." Sam pondered for a bit, "why don't we go find water instead?"

"Let's go then."

"... I don't want to move anymore."

"Huh? What's up Sam? I couldn't hear you."

"I said I don't want to move anymore, what's the problem? what happened? Why are the adults co- const- constantly making our move? Sometimes we're even on the streets sleeping. And- And everything we get is terrible, look at your clothes, our clothes! They aren't even clothes! Their rags! Also- also, have you seen us? We are ... like... really dirty, mud and dirt are what we are wearing," he pointed out.

Millie was tempted to lie and did so, "Sam, all I know is something crashed. Maybe something went wrong with the adults ... work (business) and can't provide for us anymore. We need to do work ourselves now."

"But shouldn't the adults be the ones who take care of us?"

"... They are having problems that they need to solve. Either way, when we grow up we still need to take care of ourselves. Think of this as a practice," Millie tried to cheer him up with a fake smile, which he didn't notice.

Sam didn't speak as they walked, before speaking in a small, weak but hearable voice, "Millie I'm scared."

Millie hugged Sam, "I know Sam, I know. Don't worry, I'll get better," she tried to reassure him again with success as he stopped asking for the rest of the trip.

They reached the park and went directly to the pond, this was a chance for the child, Sam, and Millie to wash themselves, or at least wash away the dirt on the surface. Millie watched as her younger brother ran around the pond excitedly. Truth was, she dragged him out of the orphanage going to different ones. She was being selfish and it was too late to go back to the ones she has been to before. If they went back now, they would definitely separate them both. She didn't even know where they currently were.

Time passed and the siblings never noticed someone watching them. The person in hiding decided to show his presence. "Who are you?" He asked. This may not be the best decision or his territory but they seemed out, they were street kids but not alley. He took care of children younger than him, he knew better and he knew they weren't safe.

Millie turned around to face whoever called them out, not panicked at the voice was young, "who are you?"

The male suspected something from her clothing, and decided to test it out, "are you from an orphanage? Did you run away?" He asked. No response but the darkening of her eyes, "I'm calling the cops."

When the male went to graph his 'phone' Millie stood up and ran towards him, stopping him from calling the police, "no don't."

"You ran away," he stated looking at her hands on his.

Millie retreated her hands and looked down, "I don't want to be separated from my brother."

The stranger pondered for a bit before sighing, "word of advice, don't tell the truth." Millie looked up in confusion, "in these streets if you show weakness you die. My name's Zack."

Millie looked more closely at what he was wearing, clothes but there were worn out. Hesitantly, she introduced herself which made Zack glad she had taken his words in, not many house kids did. "I'm Millie. My brother's name is Sam." He seemed nice enough.
