Monopoly

thank you @Elf_girl333 for this idea XD

The game looked innocent enough, but Krell and Aja both soon discovered how strangely intense monopoly could get.

It was two in the morning. Game pieces were scattered across the room, furniture was in disarray, and Loug had eaten the directions an hour ago. Krell and Eli were passed out in each other's arms, and Toby had lost interest at this point and started a movie.

Aja and Steve were the only ones pressing on, and even they were at their breaking points. "I still do not understand this game! Why are you getting all of the little houses and I still do not have even one?"

Steve rubbed his eyes and carefully placed another tiny house onto the game board. "The tiny little people live tiny, tiny little plastic lives... so tiny... but so powerful..." He blinked. "Oh, sorry Aja. Um. Sometimes you can get all of the money, and you buy up aaaallll the little houses. And you can- you can CRUSH the competition. And then you lose. Cuz' of capitalism."

Aja snorted fondly at her rambling boyfriend, even though she was still annoyed at the game itself. "I think it is a silly, greedy game that was only created to make people mad."

Steve grinned- he was on his third energy drink of the night and Aja was beginning to wonder if she should hide the rest of his stash before his heart exploded. "That about sums it up. Let's play something else next time."

He promptly passed out on the floor and Aja covered him with a blanket, kissing him on the forehead before also putting a blanket over Krell and Eli. Toby had already somehow buried himself in couch cushions, so Aja let him be. She grabbed the remaining blanket- a soft blue fuzzy one- and took it for herself.

Before turning off the lights, Aja watched her friends sleep with a loving smile. Monopoly was an awful game, but it would never ruin their friendship.

Even so, Aja was sure that she would never, ever, ever play monopoly again. Ever.
