A deadly duel takes place, shaking up Totresia and revising the line of succession. Clémentine sees herself on the verge of becoming Queen, and she never anticipated that she and Edouard would sit atop the thrones--ever. Now she has to change her entire attitude, and thwart threats from other countries that would prefer if she were buried beneath the throne, instead of lounging atop it.
Pauline was witness to the duel, but sworn to keep her mouth shut, and play the role of Queen of Giroma without a complaint. She complies, but not without a swelling hatred for her husband and the man who was his second during the infamous--but soon-to-be forgotten--duel. She makes a name for herself and doesn't accept anything less than perfect.
Both Queens are soon set to give birth to heirs to their respective crowns, and they have no clue how incredibly important those heirs will be. But they'll stop at nothing to ensure their futures...even if their demeanors often get them called "wicked".
