#1 in blackpoetsThis collection of poems is intended to give some account of the conditions in which African oral poets produce their works, and the audiences to which they address themselves. However, even the most summary account of this topic is a matter of great difficulty. This is partly because of sheer lack of data. Even those who have spent time and care recording African texts have frequently taken next to no interest in the position of the authors or reciters. A related but more profound cause of confusion lies in the popular images which underlie the work of many commentators on African oral literature, images which suggest some general and simple pattern to which these poets are expected to conform.I would be updating poems of various types; Epic poetry, Modern poetry, Poems of gods and ancestors, praise poetry, protest and satirical poems, relationship, survival and most of all, poems about family in our day to day, African lives.Copyright ©Madinah_Writes 2021

This is where I post the poetry that I've written and little feelings in the form of words. I have had a hard life. I have had a hard couple of years. But what has proven hardest has been the past eleven months. Everyone has been asking me how I'm doing, so I decided to compose a book of poems that will tell everyone how I'm doing. This book is my safe place. I hope that maybe some of you can connect or feel or bleed with me as I've connected, felt, and bled with these poems. Thanks for your time. I hope that if you are going through hell you come out on the other side.

This is a poem that I finished about a year and a half ago. I'm very proud of it because of the emotions I expressed in it. It really captures what I was going through at that point in my life, and still gets me very emotional when i re-read it. It is my favorite piece that I have written so far, so I hope you guys like it!
