HANAKO 🧁

JUNKO πŸˆβ€β¬›

Okay.

you smiled at your phone, letting out a small laugh. the school day hadn't quite begun. while you were seated at your desk, your teacher approached you, he didn't look happy.

"[last name]?" he grabbed your attention.

"yeah?" you perked your head up.

"principal asano would like to see you in his office, quickly," he let out a sigh.

going to the office wasn't an odd occurrence at school, but seeing the principal himself was a bit more rare at kunugigaoka. you had always been friendly with the man, as he was the father of one of your dearest friends.

"am i in trouble..?" you asked hesitantly, having not a clue why the man would want to see you.

"i'm sorry, i really don't have a clue. but, i'd suggest that you don't keep him waiting."

"alright.." you nodded, grabbing your bag, slowly but surely making your way down to the office.

you barely had to step into the office for the secretaries to notice your presence.

"just go on in whenever you're ready, dear," an older woman spoke, looking away from her computer to get a good look at you.

you didn't even have to mention your name. you had already been well liked at school, but in the past few weeks your popularity definitely grew.

gently, you knocked on the door that would lead you into the chairman's office.

"come in," the familiar deep voice spoke. taking a deep breath, you entered the room. "please, take a seat."

with a nod, you sat in one of the rather uncomfortable chairs thar were set up in front of his desk.

"first of all, i heard the news. congratulations," he smiled, yet still had a cold demeanour.

"thank you, it was a lot of work."

"there's that word," he began. "[name], do you remember the student had book you were given during your first year?"

"of course i do."

"do you remember chapter five?"

"not exactly.. first year was awhile ago," you laughed awkwardly.

"let me give you a reminder," he had the book prepared, the second he wanted you to review highlighted.

CHAPTER FIVE

SECTION 2B

ALL PRESENT STUDENTS OF KUNUGIGAOKA JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL MAY NOT PARTAKE IN A PAID POSITION OF EMPLOYMENT - THIS WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE TRANSFER TO THE E-CLASS CAMPUS. FOR VOLUNTEERING COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES PLEASE VISIT THE MAIN OFFICE.

"right.." you sighed.

"i'm very sorry, [name], but rules are rules."

"come on, sir. i only make a 10% income, and i haven't even been paid yet! couldn't we arrange something?"

"now, that wouldn't be very fair, now would it?" he leaned back in his chair. "besides the job issue, your grades have downgraded drastically compared to last year."

"well it's a new grade, the work is drastically harder."

"we both know that's not the full extent of it, you were ranked eighth overall last year. you're a smart girl, gakushΕ« tells me all the time."

shΕ« talks about me at home? you thought to yourself.

"then i guess that's that, isn't it?" you frowned.

"unfortunately so, the transfer will be completed by the end of the week. please first thing tomorrow morning come down to the office, there's a conversation you'll need to have with your new teacher, mr. Karasuma."

"right, so i'm good to head back to class?"

"go ahead, i'll see you tomorrow."

you nodded in response before grabbing your bag and heading back to class.

once lunch began, you were about to leave campus to head to the convenience store. you lost a game of rock, paper, scissors with haruka so picking up lunch was on you.

"[name]! hold on," asano stopped you before you walked out the gate. "i heard you had a talk with my dad."

"oh, yeah. i totally forgot about the stupid no job rule," you forced a laugh.

"look, i swear i tried to talk him out of it, i told him about how smart you are he's just... stubborn."

"no, no i get it. it's just what's fair, i understand," you assured him. "at least i've got till friday, right?"

"...you're seriously okay with being in e-class?"

"well, no," you laughed. "but it's my fault, i wasn't thinking. and you know what everyone says, e-class isn't exactly a place for thinkers, i'll fit right in."

he let out a small chuckle.

"i'm glad you're taking it well. i've seen too many people tweaking over getting a C, getting scared they're on the road to getting transferred," he said as he began walking alongside you. "do you think your management will be upset?"

"i just won't tell them," you shrugged. "then they can't get mad, don't need to give them another stick up their asses."

"is it that bad?"

"eh.. they're just all grouchy old men, you know?" you laughed.

"sounds lovely," he spoke sarcastically.

the two of you continued talking about your bosses all the way to the store and back.

you were not excited for e-class in the slightest, you were not ready to face the students you had taunted and teased for months but, rules were rules.
