recoveryโ€ข is the term, which describes the ability of the patients to regain function, and is dependent on pre-injury function and the healing process.

The doctor walked in the room and sat down in front of Roman. He took a deep breath before speaking. "She lost a lot of blood from when she cut her head open, which is why she went into hemorrhagic shock. It was over 40%, but we also seen some internal bleeding in her abdomen area, we took care of it though. Mild concussion. However she did shatter her kneecap from the floor, due to her falling forward and catching the end of the table, Luciana fell directly on it, plus the problems with that same knee before. Surgery went well. We cleaned the surface of the bone during surgery, but our concerns right now is her patellar bones."

Roman rubbed his face, "What.. What about them?"

"Luciana's patellar bones are now fractured, and from what we seen, they were not close together. Even though we did the surgery, she probably will have some difficulty healing." The doctor elaborated.

"She'll be on medication after the surgery right?" Roman cleared his throat, his nerves getting the best of him.

"Yes." The doctor nodded. "Opioids."

"Opioids? Don't people overdose on those often? Doc..She.. She has a history of overdosing, so can, can we watch the amount you're putting her on?" He stuttered. "P-please. I can't lose her."

"Of course, once the pain is bearable for her, we'll take her off it right away. Don't worry Roman, we'll monitor the amount, but remember it depends on how much pain she is in after it wares off when she wakes up. She'll be in a cast for awhile, once she wakes up she'll be sensitive to the light because of the head injury. But other than that, her recovery will be from six to eight weeks. We'll talk about weight bearing when she wakes up." The doctor stood up and walked to the door. "She was really lucky Roman. I watched the way she fell, it could've gone a completely different way."

"Thank you." Roman said. The doctor nodded and walked out. His eyes began to water up, burying his face in his hands.

"Hey.." Dean, Seth, Brie, and Nikki walked in.

"We saw the doctor walk out." Dean said. "How you doing man?"

Roman just shook his head, unable to speak. They all gathered in a group hug, holding Roman. All you could hear was his weeps and sniffs.

"The doctor said she um will have a hard time healing cause the patellar bones weren't close together once they shattered.. And they're putting her on opioids." Roman finally spoke.

"They'll watch the amount right?" Brie asked, automatically thinking of her history with pain medication.

Roman nodded. "Can I borrow someone's phone to call her Jose? I left mine back at the stadium."

"Yeah, here you go." Seth handed him his phone.

"Thanks." Roman got up and dialed Jose's number, pacing the room.

"Hello?"

"Hey Jose, it's Roman."

"Oh Roman! Finally! I've been trying to call you. Did you get a new number or something?"

"No, no. I left it back at the stadium. Did you see the match?"

"Yeah I did, is she okay? What happened?"

"The doctor said surgery went well, she has a shattered kneecap. She'll have some difficulty healing her patellar bones, but she'll be okay. They have her on opioids when she wakes up." He explained.

"Alright... They'll take her off them right?"

"The doctor said he will but it depends on how much pain she can take when it wares off."

"As long as they watch her. Did they say why she passed out?" Jose wondered.

"Well her head was cut open and the doctor say there was internal bleeding in her abdomen. She lost I think he said 40%? So that sent her into hemorrhagic shock."

"Is Luciana awake yet? I'm looking at the next available flights there."

"No, they just finished surgery, I'm waiting for them to bring her in. Are you sure you wanna fly out? What about work? Luci mentioned you're working on your new project."ย

"Ah I forgot about that..." Jose sighed.

"I'll talk to Luci when she wakes up, I'll see what she thinks, and I'll let you know. Don't worry, I'll pay for the flight for you and if the others want to come out too." Roman stated.

"You don't have to do that," Jose disagreed.

"I want to." Roman said. "Well, I'll call you when she wakes up and we know everything."

"Thank you Roman. Please, we'll be waiting. Love you, bye."

"Love you too," He said before hanging up. He turned back and handed Seths phone to him.

"We're gonna go back to the stadium and get her and yours stuff, and then we'll be back." Nikki and the others stood up.

"Alright, uh all my stuff is in my bag. Some of hers is scattered though." Roman informed them.

"We got it." The twins said at the same time.

They all bid their goodbyes, Roman sighed and sat down on the chair. He leaned his head back before praying. But all he could think about was what would happen if her knee never healed. Would she ever be able to wrestle again? This is what Luciana loved. This is what she was meant to do. This is what she's always wanted to do.

Suddenly the nurses rolled Luciana in, she was still asleep. Multiple IVs in her arms. He stood up and looked at her, wincing at the nasty bruises not only on her face but all over her body.

"Luciana should be waking up any minute now. Just let us know, she did really well but she still needs to be hooked up to the IVs because of how much blood she lost. Other than that, it's all good. Press the red button on the side if you need anything." One of the nurses babbled and sent him a warm smile before leaving.

Roman moved the chair closer to the hospital bed. He gently picked up her hand and held it to his lips. About fifteen minutes later, Luciana started to move.

"Hey," Roman smiled and gently moved some of her hair out of her face. "There's my pretty girl."

Luciana fully opened her eyes and winced at the harsh light. "My head hurts."

"Let me dim the lights." Roman said and went to turn them down. "Better?" He sat back down.

She nodded, "What'd they do?"

"Well, you shattered your knee cap, and you have a concussion. You did have some internal bleeding in your abdomen so that's why you past out. But the doctor said the surgery went well, you will be in a cast though for awhile." Roman said.

"How long is recovery?" Luciana wondered.

"Six to eight weeks." He sighed. "How are you feeling? What do you need?"

She shrugged and held her head. "I just want to go home." Luciana began to cry. "My head hurts so bad."

Roman scooted closer and softly rubbed her cheek. "I know, I know. I'm sorry baby, we'll go home as soon as we can okay?"

"Why is there so many fucking IVs," she groaned tugged her hand.

"You lost over 40% of your blood babe. Pretty sure they're doing a blood transfusion." Roman tried calming her down.

"I really don't even remember what happened." She let out a sigh.

"You gave me a heart attack." Roman said. "I was literally in the bathroom and once I came back they were all screaming at me. Baby why don't you wear knee pads or anything?"

"Because I don't want to." She shrugged. "All I remember is we were on the edge and she went for French Kiss but I was trying to get my footing stable, but then she lost her balance and we both just went flying off."

"I seen the way you landed right on your knee. I'm just so glad you're okay." He confessed and wiped the few tears he had.

"Everything just hurts..." She cried, reaching for his hand.

"I'm sorry, you know I would take the pain away and give it myself if I could." He consoled. "I'm gonna go get the doctor, I'll be back."

"No." Luciana held his arm tighter. "Don't leave."

"Okay okay." Roman settled. "I'm here."

"Thank you." She sniffed.

Roman wiped her tears, softly and gently kissing her. "I got you, alright. I love you."

"I love you too."

One week later

"We're home." Roman cheered and pulled into their driveway. "You happy?"

"Very. Especially to be in my own bed." She smirked and looked over at him.

"Oh you're bed?" He laughed and parked the car. He hopped out and went to her side, helping her out. The doctor said she couldn't put that much weight on it, so whenever she'd walk, she'd put mainly all her wait into Roman. They walked in the house, she lied on the couch, propping her knee up. "You good?"

"Yes, thank you." She smiled up at him.

โ€”โ€”โ€”

"Luci?" Roman said.

She turned and looked at him. "Yeah?"

"I love you. I am who I am because of you. You are every reason, every hope, and every dream I've ever had, and no matter what happens to us in the future, everyday we are together is the greatest day of my life. I will always be yours." He breathed.

She smiled. "You are, and always have been, my dream."
