A full five days has past for the twins as they remained in the infirmary in Yiling as they let the Wen siblings attend to them whenever they could, concerning of their injuries.

Wei WuHui held her robes to her chest while her bandages was being removed by Wen Ning. A large scar tissue covered her once flawless body in her stomach area through her back. Accompanying that, multiple whip marks was lay out, scattered around her back.

Wen Ning smiled gleefully. "You've fully healed! A-Jie, your new prescription works so well!"

Wei WuHui smiled. "Thank you, Wen Qing, Wen Ning for your help."

"No need to thank me. The damage could be much worse if Zidian released its real power. The rumour that Yu ZiYuan loathes you and your brother to the guys seems unreliable." Wen Qing huffed.

Wei WuHui paused in pulling her robes back on.

"Those little brats Wei Ying and Wei Yang! Stirring up trouble whenever they goes! This time they broke off A-Li's betrothal. Who knows what they will bring next time!"

"Despite everything that I've done to you and your brother, you still remain loyal to me?"

"Ridiculous. You're just like your father."

"Wen Chao will be come back tomorrow." Wen Qing stated, knocking Wei WuHui out of her mind scape.

The latter closed her eyes. "We will leave today."

"Good to hear. I'd rather not deal with Wen Chao. Especially that woman around him, she makes me sick." And with that, Wen Qing walked off and not far behind is Wen Ning. Leaving Wei WuHui behind in the room. Getting up, she walked over to the bed where she saw her brother standing over the sleeping Jiang Cheng. His spiritual energy activated as he just stared at the red Qi circulating his hand thoughtfully.

Wei WuHui's eyes softened, recalling the sight of her brother searching hard for any possible answers for Jiang Cheng. She walked closer to her brother and reached out to grab his other hand. "Gege."

Wei WuXian turned away as he faced his sister who gave him a reassuring look. "We'll figure something out. For Jiang Cheng."

Wei WuXian stared at his sister for a moment before nodding as he put on a small smile. "Thank Mรจimei." Before turning back to the unconscious Jiang heir and reached out to pluck the needle from his forehead.

"Jiang Cheng." Wei WuXian called out softly as the said boy began to stir.

Then, Jiang Cheng gasped out. "Kill! Kill the damned Wens!"

Wei WuHui winced from the immediate anger but held it together. "They've already left." She spoke, catching Jiang Cheng's eyes widened as he spun his head toward her.

"W-Wei WuHui? You're really here? I'm not imagining it?" Jiang Cheng stammered shakily.

Wei WuHui smiled before reaching out to grasp his shaky hand, leaning over to connect their foreheads together. Just like how she did to her brother. "I'm here, A-Cheng. I'm here."

Jiang Cheng sniffled, letting the tears run as he wrapped his arms around the petite frame. Embracing her tightly.

Wei WuXian smiled warmly at the heartfelt moment before him. Happy to see his little brother and sister both safe and sound in front of him. "You've been asleep for several days. Your body is weak. Get up and eat something."

Wei WuHui pulled away. "That's right, A-Cheng. You must be hungry."

Jiang Cheng, remembering all of what had happened, huffed angrily as he turned his head away in disagreement.

Wei WuXian sighed. "You're so disheartened just because your golden core was destroyed, guess your thirst for revenge isn't much to behold." Wei WuXian got up to walk over to sit a small table. "How could you bring your golden core back if you don't replenish your energy?"

Jiang Cheng gasped immediately. "You know a way?"

Wei WuHui chuckled lightly, going over to join her brother. "Have you forgotten the one whom our mother Cangse Sanren is the disciple of?"

"Bao...Baoshan Sanren?"

"Exactly. Baoshan Sanren. The legendary master who has lived for centuries beyond the secular world. She can resurrect the dead and revive the skeleton. It would be effortless to recover a single golden core." Wei WuHui explained.

"B-But you said you two don't remember what happened when you were kids." Jiang Cheng said.

"We just cannot remember everything, not all were forgotten," Wei WuXian retorted. "Both Mรจimei and I still remember things about Baoshan Sanren."

Jiang Cheng perked up eagerly at the fact. "S-So...where is Baoshan Sanren?"

Wei WuHui wordlessly placed a streaming bowl of rice. "Come and have a meal. We'll tell you while eating." She reassured.

"Are...you lying to me?" Jiang Cheng asked.

Wei WuXian's brows furrowed solemnly. "Uncle Jiang and Madame Yu have been sent to Qishan." He began as he grabbed something from inside of his robes. "Wen Ning tried his best but just brought these back." Putting down the familiar purple items on the table.

Immediately, Jiang Cheng's eyes widened in shock and rushed up from the bed as he sped over. Staring down at the bloodied head piece and bell that belong to his parents. Tears fell instantly as he sobbed, collapsing down to his knees in front of the items.

Jiang Cheng then tearfully kowtowed to the only reminders of his parents'. This was followed by Wei WuXian and Wei WuHui, who owned everything to the late Jiang FengMian and Yu ZiYuan.

Wei WuHui held back her tears. 'Uncle Jiang, Madame Yu...I will protect Jiang Cheng, Shijie...and Gege with my life...even if I have to give up everything. I will do it'

โ€”โ€”โ€”

"Wen Qing, c-can I ask you of something?" The latter turned away from her medicine making as she faced the female Wei twin.

"Hm? What is it?" Wen Qing raised a brow. Noticing the downcast yet determined expression on the other female's face.

"I...need your help for this...please."

โ€”โ€”โ€”

"This place...really is where Baoshan Sanren lives?" Jiang Cheng inquired as he stared up at the ludicrous green surrounding and the giant mountain before his eyes.

They had come here after taking another week of resting and planning of the sacred process and steps that they need to remember for this trip.

"We've already reached here. How many times must you doubt it?" Wei WuXian asked with a jokingly exhaustive tone as Wei WuHui giggled in the background.

"Alright. We can't accompany you up there." Wei WuHui stated before holding up a white cloth to Jiang Cheng. "Here. Cover your eyes."

"There are no beasts in the mountains. You'd better walk slowly. Don't take off the blindfold even if you fall." Wei WuXian instructed as he handed Jiang Cheng a stick as a way to navigate his grounding. "Bear in mind. Never...never do that. Otherwise, if you break the taboo and anger Shizu and Shibo. We'll all be doomed."

Jiang Cheng nodded.

Wei WuHui smiled worriedly as she gave him one more hug. "Go. And be safe." And with that, she let go of him and watched with her brother as Jiang Cheng began his journey.

"If anyone asks who you are, you must say you are the son of Cangse Sanren. Never reveal your true identity." Wei WuXian called out.

"Got it." Jiang Cheng replied but then turned his head slightly. "What about you two?"

"Don't worry. Gege and I will be waiting for you at the foot of the mountain." Wei WuHui reassured. She then glanced over to her brother, who gave her a firm nod and began walking away with him.

Knowing what comes next will be the very last time she will see her brothers.

'Forgive me...Gege'

Meanwhile, over to the serene Cloud Recesses, a panting Lan disciple rushed across the courtyard. Not running as it is against the rules but 'speed-walking' to his destination.

"Lan-Xiansheng. Lan-Xiansheng." The Lan disciple huffed tiredly as he stumbled up the steps to the ancestral hall, where he saw both Lan QiRen and Lan WangJi.

"What is the meaning of this?" Lan QiRen inquired sternly.

The Lan disciple panted, trying to catch his breath. "I-It's a miracle. Lan-Xiansheng, Lan-Er-Gongzi. Lan-Gu Niang has returned."

Lan WangJi rarely broke his neutral facade but the moment his ears heard the mention of his sister. He felt his walls breaking down as his eyes widened and immediately, he ran. Breaking a rule in the process.

Not waiting for his uncle or the Lan disciple, Lan WangJi sped over to the front entrance. Ignoring the calls and stares, his only goal was seeing his sister. His twin. His other half.

Eventually, he made it to the area and when his molten-gold eyes saw the white-robed back with long lushly black hair flowing down. He called out. "A-Ling."

Lan ChunTao didn't even have the time to fully turned around when she felt herself engulfed in a tight embrace. The scent of sandalwood flooding her sense as her eyes was covered by white.

"D-Dada...?" She murmured in bewilderment. Lan ChunTao felt her eyes beginning to tear up as her shaky hands reached and clutched onto her big brother's robes. Feeling his warmth against her and her body began to tremble, finally letting go of the flood.

Relief is the only thing she is feeling at the moment.

"I-I'm back, dada. I'm back home." Lan ChunTao sobbed as Lan WangJi hummed, stroking her head softly.

"Mn. Welcome back...Mรจimei."

โ€”โ€”โ€”

Felt like a whole week has passed by for her when in actuality, two days went by since Jiang Cheng journeyed up the mountain.

Every inch of her body ached with tiredness and pain. Her tired eyes continued to stayed on the earthy ground while she draw mindlessly with a stick.

However, the sound of bushes rustling alerted her immediately as Wei WuHui snapped up and quickly surveyed her surrounding. Every bits of her senses on guard at any movement. Any sound.

Suddenly, a burst of power erupted behind her as Wei WuHui can only catch the sight of Wen ZhuLiu before his fiery red palm strike her straight in the chest.

"Ack!" She yelped, staggering backward. Not noticing the shocked expression of the enemy in front of her...and the blade behind her before it hit her.

"Ah!" Wei WuHui cried out in pain as a sword pierced her in her left side before falling onto her knees.

"Well, what a shock to find you here and breathing, Wei Yang." Wen Chao chuckled sadistically as he glared down at the wounded maiden. "What's the matter? On your knees already? Swagger some more! Aren't you great at swaggering around?!"

Wen Chao knocked her fully down. Her strength fading away quickly as Wei WuHui groaned.

"How dare you get so cocky!"

"Young Master Wen. Kill her already, she fooled us once." Wang LingJiao suggested.

"Kill her? That's letting her off too easy. First, break her meridians, then melt her golden core." Wen Chao huffed as he came closer to the maiden, knelt down to pulled her hair roughly. "Make her scream like that bastard Jiang Cheng did before right in front of me."

A spit of blood hit his cheek.

Wei WuHui chuckled. "W-Wen Chao. Enough bullshit. Bring on whatever methods you have. Torture me to death if you dare! The more brutal the better! After I'm dead, I'll definitely turn into a vicious ghoul! I'll make sure that you damned Wens will never be at peace!"

Wen Chao chuckled, hiding away his surprise. "So you wanna be a vicious ghoul?" Before landing a hard slap on the maiden's face. "Wei Yang. You think you're afraid of nothing huh? So valiant and greed! I'd like to see. How long can you stay tough?" He then turned around. "Take her!"

Rough hands grabbed her arms as she felt herself being dragged.

The only sign of her very last presence was the fallen silver hairpin that was left behind and stepped on. The object imprinted into the earth.

โ€”โ€”โ€”

Wei WuHui grunted as she was thrown to the hard ground. Her breathing becoming more strained by the unpleasant scent that engulfed the entire area.

"Wei Yang. Do you know what's this place?" Wen Chao asked as the latter looked up, seeing the dark and unliveable darkness before her. "As you can expect, Burial Mounds! Corpse Mountain. Ancient battlefield. Just one shove anywhere down there and you can find a corpse."

'Burial Mounds' Wei WuHui trembled at the huge amount of dark energy that surged from the terrain before she was kicked down and a foot planted on her head. "Look at the resentful energy here. Through the ages, hundreds of cultivation sects tried to purge it. But all failed. If the living enter here, both his flesh and soul will never come out again."

Wei WuHui gasped breathlessly as she was pulled up by the hair and pushed to the very edge of the cliff. "You! Will never get out of here too!"

Her heart immediately dropped after hearing the statement as Wei WuHui felt herself swung into the void. It felt like time slowed down for her and only her as her eyes glared into Wen Chao's one last time.

'Gege...'

"WEN CHAOOOOO!"

'I'm sorry'
