it has been 3 weeks since the captain asked you to join his squad as a magic knight. at first you had no idea of what a magic knight is or whatever they do, you have never thought about anything this hard, your mind has never been filled with all 'what ifs', just then your mind savior has come. you thought that if you have yet to claim that these 'magic knights' are possibly anything good or bad, your brain could've bursted.

the traveller spoke in such a proud and honored tone making everything he speaks of interesting, or maybe it's just you taking interest with the captain. "it was captain vangeance and his squad that saved us.. he's our hero." you learned alot from that adventurer.

magic knight is the clover kingdom's most powerful mages, or so that traveller said so. there's a total of nine squads leaded by nine powerful and great captains. "a magic knight exam happens every year, allowing people that has advantages to join a squad and help to protect our land, and as a father, i am very proud to say that my only son will be joining the exams!" he chirped excitedly as the villagers cheer him and his son.

you stared at the moon, hearing the water flows smoothly, the wind hitting the leaves. It was peaceful. you loved this, the feeling of under the moon relaxes you, it gives you warmth and calmness. you've been thinking about joining the exam, you're very sure that you've been asked by a captain since that's what the adventurer described him as,

"captain vangeance is a man of charisma, he came from a noble family and is currently leading the most noble knights there is in clover. he's a very collected and a calm man, that is how he appears in public." a certain woman with the adventurer once told you.

you groaned as you stood up, "okay." you sighed,. "i'm joining the magic knights, i better train myself, i still don't know how strong the people on the capital is so it's better to get better. "

you woke up and did what you always do in the morning. you finished your breakfast in a flash, you were so excited for today and you have no idea why.

you grabbed your broom and grimoire as you exited your house, locking the door after. you sat in your broom and put some magic into it as it flew towards the river where you'll practice.

as you get nearer and nearer into the river you felt an unfamiliar presence, you immediately thrilled up thinking its one of the bandits. you stepped out of your broom and walked cautiously towards the man sitting down near the river.

he was wearing a robe and a mask, it feels so nostalgic and his frame looks so familiar. you didn't know where did that courage go but you didn't want to attack him anymore. you coughed, trying to get his attention.

you coughed and coughed until you choke, but finally got him to face your direction and there you see the captain that asked you to join the Magic Knights.

"miss diana?" he looked firmly at your frame, you trembled. he sounded so scary and the fact that you now knew that he's the captain of the most promising squad in clover kingdom is not giving you any comfort.

he stared at you for a few more seconds as you try your best not to look straight into his eyes, you didn't know what to do nor to say. it was ackward, very.

"it is you right? y/n diana?" you only nodded fearing your voice might betray you. you didn't really wanna embarrass yourself infront of a captain.

"nice to meet you again, would you.. sit with me?" he says in a more softly tone now as you looked up to meet his warm gaze and smile. the sun's light hit his lower face as his skin shone aswell as his mask, he looked angelic under the dawn. it suits him.

he sat down near the river as you followed, you have a lot of questions in your head but kept them to yourself and maybe for another time.

"have you given thought about joining my squad like i asked you miss diana?" he was staring deep into the water, "you don't have to be so formal with me, captain vangeance." you faced him with a smile.

william stared at your smiling face, he was feeling mixed emotions. why was he feeling excited when he saw you, when you sat with him, when you talked, when you smiled. why do you have such impact on him when you only met two times.

that's what you both know.

"and yes, i'm planning on joining the magic knights-" you were cut off when he spoke almost instant when you said yes, "then you're welcome on my squad miss-" you cut him off aswell.

"m-no wil- captain vangeance.. i decides that i'd want to attend the magic knights entrance exam just like a normal citizen.." you saw how his eyes sadden abit but he immediately replaced it with a small smile. "as you wish, and don't be too formal with me aswell. call me william." He uttered, you frown from total confusion, he was surprised too, why would he suddenly ask for you to call him by his first name when even his fellow captains wouldn't. except yami.

"p-pardon?" you cleared your throat after realizing your voice cracked. "ah, yes.. although you may only call me by my name when were alone." and now he sounds commanding.

'dangit.' he thought.

you chuckled, "alright then sir william."

you both stayed there for a few hours chatting and learning about each other senselessly but everything had to come to an end, william needs to get back to the capital since he is a captain and his squad needs his presence.

you bid goodbye to each other and promised to see each other at the entrance exam. with a last wave and smile you watched as the captain's frame get out of sight.

you sigh feeling really happy, you didn't realize it's been hours and totally forgot about your training. atleast you got to know him as you wanted, he was that person every adventurer was telling you.

a warm, soft-hearted, kind and fancy captain.

but one thing is still bothering you, why did he waste all his time talking with you? a girl who lives in a cursed village, a girl who he only met twice.

i just finished black clover and i'm crying. i can't wait for the movie. 😭
