Hawkins, Indiana was the epitome of every single stereotypical American small town you'd see in those old movies.

Little happy families living together in red brick houses with picket white fences. It was a community so tight knit that it felt as if everyone was your neighbour, no matter how far away you lived from each other. The town prided themselves on being the postcard for what stereotypical American suburbia should be.

But despite how perfect the small town looked, deep down it somehow allowed every single dirty secret to slip under the radar. In reality, it was actually the breeding ground for top secret government experiments.

Hawkins National Laboratory, disguised itself as just a simple government funded project but in reality, it was a nightmare dressed as a daydream. It secretly ran two her controversial experiments that could potentially cause the town to crumble if the secrecy of the subject found it ways into the real world.

First we have the exploitation of children for the purpose of finding the next weapon for war. Unsuspecting children of all ages, were taken from their parents. They were forced to undergo traumatic experiments in order to crack the mystery that was the special abilities that they somehow inhabited.

And then there was the possibly of discovering a new version of our dimension. The lab had created a specific gateway into a new version of our world, except this world was filled with flesh eating monsters that craved blood and only wanted to mind control the human race.

Despite, the dangers of both experiments being ran, the scientists of the lab continued their research under the noses of the local citizens, with the hopes of aiding the human race in some way or another.

But they definitely didn't expect that their hidden secrets to somehow penetrate the normal world or that an innocent child would accidentally get mixed up in the mess.

On November 6th, 1983, twelve year old, Will Byers, mysterious vanished out of thin air. His usual bike ride home was nothing but normal as he was chased back to his house by the flesh eating monster, known as the demogorgan. Before he was dragged into the darker alternative dimension of our universe, the Upside Down.

But he wasn't the only one caught up in this government and supernatural mess, so are his best friends, including Wendy Harrington.

The deaf girl had lived her entire life in Hawkins and lived a completely normal life. Well, a mostly normal life as she was gifted with the freakish ability to witness things before the average person can.

It was like a sudden flash of the future but she never thought anything of it until they started coming true. She thought that it was pure coincidence that she could predict the winning lottery numbers or what someone would say before they actually did but then it developed into something more sinister.

Wendy had no clue on how she could predict such extreme things or even how it developed. She always thought it was some sort of strange intuition that she was born with but all the answers suddenly start to unfold for her, once Will Byers had gone missing.

And those answers come in the form of two human beings, Eleven and Nine. Both escapees from Hawkins Lab, who were also gifted with powerful mind abilities.

Through these new girls, Wendy is able to gain control over her once freakish coincidences. She is able to predict the incoming flesh eating demons, the mysteries surrounding her town and even the hidden memories of her own forgotten past.

But in order to get through this mess, she must recruit her older brother and her three middle school best friends to help her solve this twisted mystery. And she does not know if she's cut out for this new lifestyle but she'll power through anyway.

Only time and strength will tell how this young heroes journey will go.
