Kamari T'amir Hightower | 21 | Kam | T'amir

A few days later Kamari was at the house on her phone while Amber was getting her food. Paris was out with Jamal for the day and said she'd text on her way back. It was close to mid October and Amber was especially excited, she had been costume shopping since late September.

Kam heard a knock at the door and got up and opened it. She didn't have any appointments set up for the day. She wanted a break.

"Hey Tete!" BJ's voice instantly hit Kamari's ears and she smiled. "Hey Bj." Kamari held open her arms and Bj ran into them. She took in her nephew's hug.

"Who brought-" Kam stopped mid sentence looking up and seeing Trezz. She cleared her throat before standing up.

"Miyah wanted me to see if you would keep him for her." Trezz told her and Kam hesitated.

"Uhhh, yeah. Bj a Ipad upstairs, in one of the rooms, grab it ." Kam pointed towards the stairs and Bj dropped his bag off in the floor before running off.

Kam went to pick up his backpack, and hang it up, so she would know where it was. Kamari was taking out the snacks the Miyah packed for Bj, and was so into organizing them, she didn't even notice how Trezz had made himself comfortable on the couch.

As she was finished up and sighed, she turned around ready to get comfortable again. She jumped back in shock seeing Trezz on the couch. He looked up at her as she laughed awkwardly.

"I thought you was leaving?" She raised an eyebrow, slightly pointing at the closed door.

"Nah, Ian got nun to do, so." Trezz shrugged.

"Oh okay." She answered, nodding softly in agreement. Kamari tucked her foot under her butt as she grabbed her phone off the edge of the couch, scrolling down Twitter.

After a few moments of silence, she heard Trezz clear his throat. "What you doing?"

"On twitter." She informed him, she couldn't help but laugh immediately at the side eye he shot her.

"What?" She laughed out since he started shaking his head.

"What you doing on Twitter?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. Kam tilted her head as she began to speak,"To laugh."

"Lie." Trezz smacked his lips at her response.

"I'm serious, my feed is funny. I'm not you, probably got sex all over yours." She assumed with a yikes face.

"Nah. Mines funny too." He informed her. Kamari smacked her lips at the lie and a laugh escaped his lips. She chuckled at it, he had a nice laugh. One she hadn't heard in a while.

"Tete! Oh my god, Tete!" BJ's voice yelled, shaking as he yelled while running down the stairs. Kam's eyes widened as she stood off the couch immediately.

"They have a Blaze patpack! You can get it for me?! It look so cool!" He exclaimed, and Kam sighed in relief. Bj was a dramatic child, so when he screamed you'd never know If he was hurt or excited.

"Yeah, take a screenshot so I can buy it later." She informed him and he yelled in excitement as he made his way back up the stairs.

"He had yo ass scared and shit." Trezz laughed as Kamari sat down on the couch, slightly holding her chest.

"It never fail." She told him laughing, it was true. Bj was a very dramatic child. Suddenly Kamari's stomach growled, and she stopped in her tracks.

"You hungry?" Trezz asked, making Kamari scrunch her face up at his question. "Nah, it was the wind."

"Man what you want to eat?"

"Nothing, I'll just eat some Vienna's or something until Bj gets hungry, and I can eat some real food." Kam huffed as she stood up off the couch,ย  making her way to the kitchen. Just as she opened the counter, her phone rang, shifting her attention to it.

"Hello?" Amber's voice came through the phone almost immediately as she answered.

"Yeah?"

"Okay, so, maybe I made a little detour, and your food is going to get cold."

"Keep it,ย  I'll wait until Bj hungry." Kam shook her head, she didn't even want an explanation.

"You ain't going to ask why? What you doing?" Kamari could just sense Amber's nosey ways. "Nothing, bye." Kam held the phone in one hand as she reached for the Vienna can with the other.

"I'll be on my way in a little bit." Amber stated and Kamari nodded as if she could see her,ย  Kamari froze as she felt her entire back get warm, and felt a hand over hers, the Vienna can was placed into her hand as Trezz moved away from her.

"O-O-Okay." Kam got out, and immediately ended the call, still in shock. She placed the Vienna can on the counter and opened it slowly. She groaned loudly as she realized what she was doing. Why did he have this effect on her, all he did was help her?

"What's wrong?" Trezz asked as she poured out the Vienna juice in the sink.

"N-Nothing." Kam covered her mouth and took a breath as she grabbed the hot sauce. Why was she stuttering? She never stuttered.

"Stop staring at me, it's making me nervous." Kam got out as she was about to make her way back to the living room to escape Trezz's intense stare.

"Staring at you ain't bothered you before." Trezz stated, making his way beside her on the couch. Kamari sucked her teeth, trying to keep her attention on Love & Basketball that was playing on the tv in front of them.

"Kamari." Trezz called out, and she hesitated before looking towards him. "Yeah?"

"You ain't answer my question." Trezz stated, and she bit the inside of her mouth, debating on saying what she was about to say.

"It bothers me because it makes me feel like you can see right through me or something. Why do you all of a sudden got the need for a conversation?" Kamari asked, not understanding.

"So now I can't talk to you? We can say hey and bye and give hugs, but can't have a conversation?"

"Trezz, honestly I don't think a conversation is good with you. Every time I look at you, I think of that night, November First. When you shut everything down and the night you went to jail. Hugs are fine, but after hugs, after the smiles, after the giggles, oI realize that you got a girlfriend. One thing I'm not is a home wrecker, and I don't intend to be. So no, a conversation is not fine. I can't go through that again."

"Kamari, what? You overthinking it, like deadass. I don't got a girlfriend, and even if I did, I still wouldn't lead you on."

"You positive, Trezz? Like are you so positive? Like so positive that you forgot you've done it before?" Kamari asked, with a taunting tone.

"Kamariโ€”"

"Deontrez, look. We can be friends, that's it, that's all. Okay?" Kamari asked him for confirmation. Deontrez sighed before turning his attention to the sixty-five inch tv.

"Yeah, whatever." He responded, sucking his teeth after. She felt her heart skip a beat, she didn't know why she said what she said, but another part of her felt like it was the right thing to do. She wouldn't mind trying again with Trezz, but going down the same path again, just wasn't something she was willing to do.

"Uncle Trezz! Tete! We have to watch my show! If we don't I think I'm going to die!" BJ's little voice boomed as she ran in front of the couch. Kamari smacked her lips at BJ's exaggeration.

"Bj, you have the iPad." Kamari told him as he jumped into her arms. Bj was long for a six year old, so his legs hit Trezz's arms.

"But the Tv is bigger. I don't want to watch this boring, old, annoying Basketball and Love." Bj stated and Kamari's deep gasp made Bj and Trezz laugh at her reaction.

"Come on, dude. She watching her movie, ain't it tv's in the rooms?" Trezz asked, and Bj threw the iPad to the side.

"Right." Kam agreed and Bj groaned loudly.

"I don't want to watch the five-five tv." Bj complained.

"The what?" Trezz raised his eyebrow.

"The five-five tv!" Bj repeated, putting up both his hands to demonstrate. Kamari laughed at how he couldn't say fifty-five.

"Okay, we can watch your show." Kamari told him and he clapped excessively. He grabbed the remote and gave it to Kam.

"Scoot over Tete!" Bj went to the side of Kam, slightly nudging her towards Trezz's side.

"Don't you want to sit in the middle?" Kamari asked him, since he sat on the end, leaving her in the middle.

"No, now scoot over!" Bj called out, pushing Kam. She scoffed over, now side by side with Trezz. Now Bj wants to sit on the end, for the first time in forever. The most awkward sitting, ever.
