EMERY WAS ON the couch near the fire place when she heard footsteps.

Looking up, her eyes widened at the sight of the original witch. She quickly stood up in alert, "what the fuck are you doing here?"

"I didn't come here to harm you, rest assured," Esther shot her a small smile. Emery didn't buy it, "don't make me ask you again."

"I see you're not all weak like you were the other day," Esther pointed out, narrowing her eyes at the brunette, "what did you do?" She took a step closer to her, "did you break the curse?"

"That's none of your business."

"No, you didn't, did you?" the original witch mused, "you did something though. What is it? Are you drawing power from someone? Is that it? Stealing my tricks now, are we?"

"I'm doing no such thing."

"Oh, is that so?" Esther clicked her tongue, "then what have you done?"

"Get out."

"You're a powerful witch, Emery." Esther began, "too powerful for this world. Yet you cannot reach your full potential because of the curse. Break it and the world will be on their knees for youβ€”"

"I don't want that," Emery clenched her jaw, "you made my life a living hell. Because of you, I suffered day and night because you were called a trash or some shit like that which isn't exactly a lie." This time, it was Emery who took a step closer, "so leave before I do something stupid. I won't care that using my powers will weaken me, I will kill you."

"I'm already dying, child," Esther whispered, taking a step back at the pure rage she could see in Emery's green eyes, "my body's weakening with every passing second."

"Karma's a bitch."

"You really should watch your language," Esther scrunched up her nose in disapproval, "that is no way to speak to an elder."

Emery scoffed, her lips twitching in amusement, "funny how your husband said some shit similar to me minutes before his death."

"You ill-mannered little girl," Esther gritted out, "what does Niklaus see in you?"

"I guess you'll never know," Emery smugly smiled at the older witch, "oh, and he saw way more than what you're seeing right now."

Esther's eyes widen at what she said. She opened her mouth, ready to say retort but no words came out whatsoever. She was taken aback by her words.

"I'm guessing this is what he saw," Rebekah spoke up from behind them making Esther turn around abruptly. The blonde vampire eyed her mother with so much distain as she continued to speak, "Nik's always been into the sharp tongued ones. But Emery's the only girl of his that I love."

Without waiting for her to say something, Rebekah vamp-sped towards Esther and slammed her against the wall with her hand around her neck. "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't kill you right now."

"Because I'm dying," Esther didn't miss a beat.

Rebekah let go of her with a frown, "how are you dying? I thought Ayana preserved your body with a spell."

"She did," Esther replied, "I'm drawing my power from the Bennett with line. When Abby died, the connection was severed. So my body has weakened."

"If you've come to spend your last moments with your loving daughter, prepare to be disappointed," Rebekah shot her a glare, "you should have spent less time plotting my death."

"Is that what you think I've been doing on the other side?" Esther took a step closer towards Rebekah, "I've been looking over you for a thousand years of joy and heartbreak. Your fights with Klaus. The nights you've cried yourself to sleep calling out my name. Not a day has gone by that I wasn't right there with you."

"And yet you still tried to kill me," Rebekah had tears in her eyes as she glanced at Emery who was sitting and watching the scene unfold silently. "And you placed a curse on an innocent family. Emery has had to live her life without parents and with a deadly curse."

"There is nothing I can do about the curse, I was young and I was not thinking," Esther tried to come up with an excuse but neither of the girls wanted to hear it, "and it shouldn't have been a thousand years Rebekah. No one should live that long."

"But I haven't lived at all."

"I'm sorry, Rebekah," Esther reached out to grab her hands in hers, "I'm so, so sorry." Emery furrowed her brows when Esther started to shake. Footsteps behind Esther made her look up to find the familiar blonde standing there, his eyes fixed on Esther just as she fell on the ground.

"What's going on?" He asked, his voice coming out low at the scene in front of him.

Rebekah inhales sharply as she stared at the dead body of her mother, "she's dead."
