"MIKE COULD YOU NOT SNORE TOO LOUD?" he ignored her and continued snoring. laila put on her airpods and listened to some lofi to help her sleep. both mike and laila were starving but mike told her that his mom would have delicious food waiting for them when they arrived.

       as mike and laila hopped onto an uber, she looked out the window. new jersey was quite different than vegas. the weather was a bit better. mike called his mom the entire car ride to his place which was okay with laila.

        once they arrived, mike introduced laila to his brother. "i'm nervous to meet your mom." mike rubbed her back and massaged her shoulders. "don't be."

        "ma, this is laila." mike's mother gave laila a rude look before proceeding to hand them tamales. laila sat down beside mike. "i joined artsace with mike and i'm-" mike's mom interrupted her by speaking spanish to mike and his brother. "ma don't be rude."

"and i'm having a lot of fun-" his mom stood up and brought more tamales. "i'm sorry but your mom is being a bitch."

mike's mom turned around and glared at her. "do you have no manners? i let you into my house and eat my food yet you are going to call me a bitch?" her dominican accent really popped out as she spoke english. "you aren't listening to what i have to say."

"i do not like you! talyeh was the most perfect girl for mike and frankly i don't know about you. talyeh had a business going on and you don't have shit." laila stood up from her seat and stormed out. "wait laila!" mike pulled her arm and stopped her from leaving. "i'm sorry mike but i can't deal with her."

mike kissed her and walked out with her. "laila i don't care if my mom likes you or not because i love you so much. let's get on a plane back to vegas and spend the rest of our day together."

laila and mike took an uber which drove them to the airport extremely slow but it was worth the wait. laila knew that it was bad that mike's mom didn't like her but it didn't matter. "i love you so much mike." laila kissed mike and held his hand as they sat on their seats. "i love you too laila."

as the plane took off laila had her head on mike's shoulder. she was happy that mike got along with her parents. maybe in the future laila would get along with his mom but who knows. all laila and mike know was that they truly loved each other.

from being a simple middle school crush to possibly getting married. except, kids and gowns weren't going to appear in the near future. for now, it was only laila and mike.
