When Hye-jin regained consciousness, she noticed the familiar figure next to the medical bed as she awoke, her eyes strained from adjusting to the fluorescent light.

Seo Yul quickly pulled away his hand from cupping hers as her eyes went wide.

"Seo Yul? What happened?" Hye-jin asked, her voice horse as she sat up on the bed.

"I found you unconscious after we met up with Jang Uk and his maid, Mu-deok. I was worried about what had happened, I have never seen you unconscious before." Yul admitted as his flustered states prevented him from looking Hye-jin in the eyes.

"Ah, I must be exhausted from the unhealed wound and the battle with Naksu. My body needed rest, and decided to have its own conscience and take it on its own will." She said, personifying her body as if it had a mind.

"It must have, but if you are well, Master Park requests everyone in the Training Center Immediately. I came to see if you were awake before I headed there." Seo Yul says, as he offers his arm to her, to help her off the high bed.

Hye-jin nods, gripping his arm, as she steadies herself, finding her balance before she finds it, being able to walk perfectly fine once again, with no pain in her side.

The two walk to the Training Center in silence. Hye-jin, higher status then most mages, needs to be standing next to her uncle as he addresses his issue to the mages and people at Songrim. Yet before she walks herself to find her uncle to enter the Training Center with him, Seo Yul grabs her attention.

"Before you awoke, you sounded as if you were dreaming. Do you mind if I asked you what you were dreaming of?" Seo Yul passively asks asΒ  Hye-jin meets gaze with her uncle, before turning to face Seo Yul.

"Yes, I would mind. You have no right to ask those questions to me, Seo Yul you made that perfectly clear years ago." Hye-jin eyes him, before he lowers his head in a bow, as she returns the gesture. "We are no longer friends, you have made that perfectly clear." Hye-jin said in a low voice before she turned around and walked away to meet with her uncle.

"Master Park? What is the issue? Why do we need to meet with the people of this town?" Hye-Jin inquired as she walked next to her uncle, joining the rest of the town in the Training Center.

"There is a sorcerer among these people, they aided Naksu and her men to take her body. We have requested the assistance of Jinyowon for the Gwigu, which was made by your family, yet heirloom of the Jin family." Park Jin said, as they quickly walked to the Training Center.

"Yes, I know all the heirlooms which were stolen from Hwang-Su by Lady Jin after my father died. My mother was so quick to give them up because they could easily be replicated by our family's blacksmiths, I could even make the stupid piece of pottery in my sleep." Hye-jin snickered as she remembered the evil woman that is Lady Jin. Hwang Ji-young despised her for what she accused Hwang Jung-Seo of doing, that she let her take away the artifacts so she would keep her mouth shut.

"Yes, yes, Lady Jin always gets what she wants." Her uncle agreed with her, remembering his brother's death.

"A cycle that ends with me. I am so glad I have a higher word than she. It's truly the only benefit being Mage of Daeho gets me. Higher words than people with too much pride." Hye-jin scoffs as they near the room.

"Yes Hye-jin, but show respect to your elders." Park Jin snickered at his niece.

"Yet the only thing that has ever gotten me was a dead father. " Hye-jin finished as they approached the Training Center.

Before they stood in front of the crowd, Park Jin whispered something to his niece, "Read everyone's energy, I need you to be the first to apprehend the spy."

"Yes, sir." Hye-jin said as she stood at his side, reading the room and letting the energy of the mages seep into her mind, allowing her body to feel everyone and everything in the room.

Hye-jin learned to recognize sorcery, the same way she learned to use it, yet she never had to recognize other people, so she couldn't reorganize sorcerers if they weren't using sorcery, she was of no help.

She shook her head at her uncle who gave a small nod, and turned to the audience and began speaking.

Hye-jin stopped paying attention to her uncle and his speech, until she saw her friend, Jin Choyeon, as she entered with her guards. Hye-jin gut gave her a nod as the Jin lady bowed in their presence.

"In this room, there is a soul shifter, and Gwigu will seek out that soul shifter."Β  Hye-jin announced as she looked across the room, aiding her uncle in any way she could.

"Gwigu will find the one who looks like a Songrim member on the outside, but has a different soul lying within them." Master Heo continued, as Hye-jin nodded at his statement, looking further at the faces that warned through the mages and townspeople of Songrim.

There she saw a rise of panic on Jang Uk and his Maid as they eyed on another. Something suspicious was going on, and she could not tell what it was.

Hye-Jin tried to focus her energy reading on the maid, as she couldn't read much of her. Her body held panic, yet her mind held itself like a shield, a wall blocking the world from her mind. She couldn't read her, which made her still out like a sore thumb. Yet, she didn't need to put her efforts in that right now, so she continued her search.

When Gwigu was released, she knew who it was before the ghost could jump out of the pottery, yet she stayed put, pulling out her sword.

As Hye-jin saw it come after the group of familiar people, she hesitated to approach for a second before she regained her stance. She couldn't let emotions cloud her judgment, she needed to stay focused.

Yet, a certain conversation was being held that strayed her focus away one again. A conversation tooΒ  incriminating to avoid. Jang Uk and his maid must have forgotten of the abilities Hye-jin possesses, because though no one else was able to make out their conversation, Hye-Jin's heightened hearing abilities allowed her to hear the entire conversation.

Hye-jin for sure thought that the Gwigu was going to attack them, yet held a surprised stance, as it attacked the soul shifter behind.

When the soul shifter rusted out of the Training Center, Songrim's mages raced behind him, and behind them, the rest of Songrim.

There, the mages attacked the soul shifter, yet none were able to defeat them, all collapsing, as Seo Yul approached. Hye-jin stood behind and watched as the Seo man effortlessly executed the soul shifter with the dual-wielded swords.

"Songrim has received great aid from the Jin family today." Park Jin thanked Cho-yeon while Hye-jin stood beside him and the rest of the season stood behind them.

"I am sure one day, we'll ask for your help, too." Cho-yeon said with a smile as she turned to give her friend a large smile. Hye-jin returned the action.

"Come to think of it, the children of Daeho's five great families are all gathered here. I've heard you're called the Five Seasons. Seeing you all here tonight is truly a sight to behold," Master Heo acknowledges with a laugh, as the rest of the people around smile at his statement.

"Well, we used to get together quite often. But this is the first time since Uk and Cho-yeon dissolved their engagement-" Dang-gu was cut off when he felt a piece of cloth cover his mouth in an attempt to stop him from incriminating himself further.

He looked over at Hye-jin who held her hand out with the energy lurking her steady hand as she held it to the side of her head to continue the cloth on his mouth.

"What he is trying to say is that we appreciate your help today Lady Jin, and it was a pleasure to see you once more." Hye-jin said as the rest of the people tried stifling a laugh, as the boy struggled to release the cloth that clung so dearly to his mouth until Hye-jin let it go, causing him to trip himself.Β

"I've had them prepare tea in the reception room," Seo Yul says as he steals a glance at Hye-jin who he knows doesn't enjoy tea,"Please come this way." He said as they walked to the reception room, yet waitedΒ  to see if Hye-jin was coming. " I made sure they had coffee for you, Hye-jin." Seo Yul said, as the conversation continued between the two as the others had a loud conversation about Jang Uk and his whereabouts and rumors.

Hye-jin nodded in acknowledgement as the corners of her lips slightly uplifted so ever so slightly, only enough that Yul almost missed it. "I appreciate it, Seo Yul." She said as she waited for the rest to follow their way to the reception room.

As they wandered, making their way to the training room, they heard a shatter of glasses as they approached.

Rushing, they saw that Jang Uk had shattered the Gwigu on the floor.

Cho-yeon gasped at the sight of the pottery shattered on the floor, everyone was in shock as they all looked at the green pottery in pieces in front of them.

"Gwigu pottery is shattered! It was our family heirloom." Cho-yeon squealed outΒ  as she looked at the pieces on the floor afraid of what her mother would say.

"What, uh, happened was I was trying to take a look at it. But why would they make an heirloom to be so fragile?"

"Jang Uk!" Park Jin yelled as Jang Uk made a run for it. Park Jin followed him out to scold him.

"I must put it together. So be sure to gather every single piece of pottery." Cho-yeon oddered Jinyowon's mages.

"Wait!" Hye-jin exclaimed before she they touched the broken pottery.

"What? They must pick it up so I can restore what Jang Uk broke!' Cho-yeon yelled at her friend. She didn't understand what it was like to disappoint her mother so grand, she was doubtful she loved her.Β  Cho-yeon was always seeking her mother's approval.

"My family created the pottery, Cho-yeon, I can restore it fully without you waiting years. Let me do it."

"My mother doesn't approve of your family, Hye-jin, I don't think she wouldΒ  appreciate your help. But I do." Cho-yeon expressed.

"Your mother never liked me, or my family Cho-yeon, and lucky for me, I don't take things personally. I respect her because I respect you, so I'd do anything for you." Hye-jin said as she began her spell, letting her energy flow from her arms, then onto the shattered pieces of the pottery.

Lifting every piece until it situated itself together, her energy acting as glue, and in not even a minute, the pottery was back to what it was, the Gwigu stuck and trapped inside.

"Thank you Hye-jin, I appreciate your help." Cho-yeon said as she said her goodbyes and left Hwang behind.

"You don't have to worry," Seo Yul assures the maid, as she had a worried, almost pitiful expression plastered on her face as she watched her master in the situation he was in. "He won't be punishing you master for too long."Β

"This one time, Uk was forced to sit out all night, as punishment and he almost died of the cold. His gate of energy was left open just enough to keep him alive. So extreme cold or heat could easily kill him. He won't recover if he falls ill." Dang-gu said as the three looked off to Jang Uk.

"Then you should open his gate of energy. He's desperate for someone to help him. Why won't either of you open it?" The maid spoke up, as Dang-gu faced Yul to respond, guilty of not helping his friend, he didn't want to respond.Β

"We don't have the ability to do that But no one in Songrim- I mean , no one in Daeho, is able to open it for him." Yul assures, as he looks over at the maid, who's eyes had landed far ahead of her, looking up.

Yul followed her gaze to see Hye-jin, standing on the balcony, looking over Jang Uk. She was leaning against the railing, her eyes only focusing on her friend who was being punished. Even if he couldn't see her face from where he stood, her being too far away, he knew it expressed worry of every account. Hye-jin, regardless of how she expresses herself, always was caring to her friends, Yul knew this, and so he always knew there was hope she still cared for him too.

"What about her?" The maid acted cluelessly, inapparent to the men to her side, "could she open his gate?"Β  Mu-deok, or Naksu, always knew that Hye-jin had cared for her friends, once upon a time, yet now, surrounding herself around them, she couldn't understand her like she once did before. Naksu always thought she held the same value of friendship she had always had, but her suspicions were proven false, when Hye-jin wasn't standing next to them at that moment. Maybe she didn't care like she once did before, the maiden thought.Β

"Hye-jin?" Seo Yul asked, wanting to make sure that was who she had insisted. He got his answer when Mu-deok nodded her head.

"Hye-jin could, and she definitely would if only Jang Uk didn't care more about her than her gate of energy." Dang-gu said.

"What do you mean?" Mu-deok asked, unaware of the value Hye-jin had to Jang-U.

"No matter the way she is now, Hye-jin used to be a person that brought light to every given situation. She was also an innocent child with feather weighted shoulders, with a light heart. Hye-jin has always been there for Uk, more than most of us. She was there for him when he refused to open his energy, she was there for him when he was kicked out multiple times, she was someone who held the greatest value to him. And trust me she had insisted on trying to open his gate of energy, but he wouldn't let her. To him, she had helped him mend his life from pieces to a puzzle, that she deserved to have such a title as Mage of Daeho. No one means more to him than her." Dang-gu shared with Mu-deok, as her mind began to wonder once more.

She didn't know why she felt such pity for Jang Uk, truthfully, she didn't know why she cared, but to know that such sentimental feeling was keeping him from greatness, from her own freedom, it angered her that the sentimental feeling was for Hye-jin.

__

"Throughout my life, I've only met those who have wanted me dead. You're the first person who's ever tried...to save my life. If ever you come this close to me again, I promise, I will spare you." Mu-deok left Uk behind. Her mind only further wondered what she would do.

"Through-out your life, you have only ever been a useless maid who magically regains her sight.Β  Mu-deok, isn't it?" Hye-jin appeared out of thin air, her back laying against the wall of the building, pausing the maid in her steps, surprised to see Hye-jin. She nodded her head, worried if she was already sought out by her.

"Yet, you were blind from birth, were you not? You can't regain sight out of thin air, there is no logical explanation. Of course, that is if you didn'tΒ  use sorcery, but you Mu-deok, as someone who can't use energy for a single spell, could radiate so much residue. It made me think, Mu-deok-i, you must be a soul shifter. By the way you and Uk looked so panicked back at the training room when they released the Gwigu, to the way you spoke to Uk just now."

"You must be mistaken, Lady Hwang. How could you conclude such a thing?" Mu-deok nervously laughed, playing it off as if she wasn't just sought out by the girl.

"No. I am not. You might not know who I am, but you should be worried if I find out who you are. I can see your intentions aren't what you make them out to be," and with that, Hye-jin walked away.
