Chapter 8: Teresa

~Y/n P.O.V.~

I had walked out of the council hall, now walking to the homestead. As I was getting to my hammock, my gaze stopped on a familiar big figure sitting down on my hammock.

It was Gally.

Upon hearing my footsteps, he looked up, meeting my e/c eyes.

"Gally..." I breathed out.

He quickly stood up, stomping over to me, "Whose side are you on? Huh?"

I furrowed my brows, "What?"

"I'm your boyfriend. Thomas showed up here about two days ago, and you're already all over him!" He rose his voice.

A look of disgust showed upon my face. All these dreams I've been having. I'm hundred percent sure, that Thomas is my brother.

"I'm not choosing any side, Gally. But I mean, I may as well choose Thomas, because at least some of us, wanna get out of here!" I exclaimed in frusteration.

Gally scoffed, shaking his head, "Why would you wanna leave? We're home. And I'm here. Don't you wanna stay with me?" His voice softened at that last bit.

My gaze softened. "Of course I wanna stay with you. But Gally, I don't want to stay here forever."

He nodded, biting his lip, before starting to walk away. Before he could, I quickly grabbed him by the arm, then crashing my lips onto his when he was facing me. He tensed for a minute, but then kissed back, making our lips move together.

Both my hands cupped his cheeks, caressing them, while his arms snaked around my waist, his grip tightening. I moved one hand to his hair, running my fingers through it. I felt one of his hands move down to my butt, squeezing it, making me gasp, then his tongue sliding into my mouth. I could feel his little smirk against my lips.

Currently, all I could think about was Gally. He's my boyfriend, and has been for two years. We've never said it before but....

I love him.

And I'm scared.

I'm scared, that something will happen to him. Or that he'll make me choose between him or my brother, Thomas, at least...

I think he's my brother.

~

After a little while, I was still in the homestead. Trying to think all this stuff through. Thomas could be my brother.

And that girl.

I have no idea who she is, but she looks familiar. And it didn't help when she woke up, said my name, then going unconscious again. I'm sure that she's the girl from my dreams.

As I was in my thoughts, I saw someone above me, looking down at me. Actually, two people above me. I sat up, just to see Jeff and Clint there. They were both breathing heavily, like they had sprinted towards me or something.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"It's the, uhh..." Jeff started, out of breath.

"It's the girl." Clint finished, gulping, also out of breath.

"Is she awake?" I asked, quickly getting to my feet.

"You can say that." Jeff said.

I ran towards the middle of the Glade, seeing Chuck, Thomas, and Minho. Chuck was laughing, his hands on his hips, and Thomas and Minho stayed quiet, but I could tell Minho was quietly laughing, too.

"Chuck, guys, what's going on?" I questioned them.

Chuck pointed to the watch tower, making me turn my head to it, seeing a lot of commotion going on, "Girls are awesome."

I jogged towards the group of boys at the bottom. I looked up, seeing the girl there, throwing things down at them, yelling.

"Leave me alone!"

"Watch your head!"

Finally, I made it to the group, careful not to get hit.

"Hey, throw one more of those things- Ow!" Gally was cut off by an apple hitting him in the head.

"Go away!"

"We come in peace!"

"What happened?" I asked.

"Just duck!" Someone answered.

"I don't think she likes us very much." Newt chuckled from his little hiding spot beside Winston.

"What do you want from me?"

"Hey, look, we just wanna talk!" Thomas called out.

"I'm warning you!"

She threw more stuff down, making everyone yell out and cover their heads.

"Take cover, y'all! Take cover!" Frypan shouted.

"Hey, it's Y/n! It's Y/n!" I finally yelled out, making her stop throwing things.

I saw her peak over the ledge, staring at me. I waved a little, keeping eye contact with her.

"I'm gonna come up, okay?" I called.

She moved her head away from my view. I guess that means it's okay.

I nodded, "Okay. Just me." I turned to look at Gally, knowing he'd wanna interrogate her or something. He looked at me with a somewhat glare, while I gave him a stern look. Right as I was about to climb up, an arm stopped me.

I looked over, seeing Thomas there, looking at me with some worry and concern, "Are you sure?" He asked.

I nodded, assuring him, "Yeah. I'll be fine." I patted his hand.

I felt eyes on us, but ignored it, going back to climbing the tower.

"I'm coming up." I called to her.

Finally, I made it up to the tower, lifting the little door open, popping my head up, just to see the girl sitting there, like I expected, but a machete was pointed right at me, while she had a stern look, somewhat like a glare.

"Woah, woah, woah." I stumbled, before putting my hand out, showing I meant no harm. "Okay, just... easy, alright?"

"Where am I? What is this place? Why can't I remember anything?" She asked, raising her voice, as I was climbing up.

"This is all normal. Okay? We've all been through this. Okay? Your name. That'll come back to you in a couple of days. It's the one thing that-"

"Teresa." She interrupted me.

"What did you say?" I asked, not sure if I heard her right.

"My name. It's Teresa." She repeated.

I nodded a little, "Teresa, I'm Y/n. But you already knew that, though, I guess, huh?"

"They said I kept saying your name in my sleep. Who are you?" She asked.

I looked at her for a moment, thinking, but shaking my head, "I don't know. I can't remember. None of us here can remember anything. We all woke up here just like you did. Hey, I promise..."

I saw her grip loosen a little on the machete, so I cautiously put my hand towards it, my other hand still up, showing I meant no harm.

I wrapped my hand around the machete, "I'm gonna take this."

She let me take it from her grip, pulling her knees up to her chest.

"Okay." I breathed, nodding my head.

We looked at each other for a couple more seconds, before Gally's voice spoke up.

"What's going on up there?"

I stood up from my crouched position, seeing Gally, Newt, Thomas, Minho, and Frypan standing still, looking up at me, as other Gladers were walking away.

"Is she coming down?" Newt called up.

"Um..." I glanced at Teresa, her meeting my eyes. She didn't look ready. "Hey, listen, you guys just give us a second, okay?"

I examined Gally's face. He did not look happy.

I turned back to Teresa, as I heard Newt usher the boys away.

~

"She's the last one." Teresa read the note again. "What does that mean?"

"I'm not sure." I shrugged. "Ever since you came up, that Box hasn't gone back down. I just think it's got everyone a little worried. Especially Gally." I looked at the said boy, seeing him looking up at us for what seemed like the hundredth time.

"He thinks it's my fault." Teresa nodded.

"Are you sure you don't remember anything else?" I asked her again.

"I remember water... feeling like I was drowning. These faces staring at me. And this woman's voice saying the same thing over and over." She said.

"Wicked Is Good." I nodded, knowing what she was talking about.

She looked at me, with somewhat wide eyes. I looked at her, too, looking into her bright blue eyes, then I spoke again.

"Ever since I've been here, I've had these dreams. Well, I thought they were dreams. You... You were there... and you told me that everything was gonna change." I informed her.

"What does it mean?"

"I don't know. I just always get pieces."

"And the others don't remember anything?"

"No. Why are we different?"

She moved her arms of the rails and dug into her pocket, revealing two vials of something.

"These were in my pocket when I came up." She handed them to me.

I took them, inspecting them. The first thing that caught my eye, was the wording.

"W.C.K.D." I whispered. "Wicked Is Good." I said more loudly this time.

"What if we were sent here for a reason?" Teresa asked.

I looked at the vials more, then I realized what this could be for... or who.

"Alby."

~

Teresa and I left the tower. Currently, we were in the med-jack hut, in Alby's room, with Newt, Thomas, Jeff, and Clint, while Alby laid on the bed, shaking. I told Newt about the two vials that Teresa gave me.Β

"We don't even know what this stuff is. We don't know who sent it. Or why it came up here with you." Newt pointed at Teresa. "I mean, for all we know, this thing could kill him."

I rose my brows at Newt, "He's already dying. Look at him. How could this possibly make it any worse?"

Newt glanced at Alby, watching him whimper and shake, while veins crawled up his body.

"Come on, Newt. It's worth a try." Thomas backed me up.

"Alright. Do it." Newt handed me the vial, which I eagerly took before walking to Alby's side.

I leaned a little above Alby, my hand now shaking that the vial laid in.

I glanced back at everyone, "Okay."

As I turned back to look at Alby, his head was up, looking straight at me, before he grabbed the collar of my shirt harshly.

"You shouldn't be here! You shouldn't be here!" He growled.

I felt hands on me, trying to pull me away from the boy, but he had a tight grip on my shirt.

"No!"

"Watch out!"

We got one of his hands free from my collar, but the other was still holding on tightly.

"Get the syringe!" Thomas exclaimed, still trying to pull me away from Alby.

All of a sudden, Teresa stabbed Alby in the chest with the syringe, making him calm down, his breathing becoming steady, as his other hand let go of my shirt. Thomas still kept his arm on me, like he was scared something would happen to me.

"Well, that worked." Jeff spoke.

"Okay, from now on... someone stays here and watches him around the clock." Newt ordered firmly, catching his breath.

It was silent for a couple seconds, as Thomas and Teresa still held a grip on me.

"Hey." A voice spoke up from the doorway.

We turned our heads, seeing Gally glance between Thomas, Teresa, and I, before his gaze stayed on Thomas.

"Sundown, Greenie. Time to go."

Thomas reluctantly let go off my arm, walking out of the room. Before Gally left, he made eye contact with me, before leaving, while Teresa still kept a grip on my other arm.

~Gally P.O.V.~

A torch sat in my hand, as I was taking Thomas to the pit.

"Hey, what is your problem with me?" He spoke up.

"Everything started going wrong the minute you showed up. First Ben, then Alby... and now the girl." I explained.

"But, Y/n's the other girl here, too." He said.

"Don't bring her into this." I growled. "You already have her wrapped around your finger. Now, she wants to leave."

Thomas scoffed, "Are you sure she didn't always wanna leave?"

I stopped in my tracks, squinting my eyes on him, "What are you talking about? We were perfectly fine before you came."

"Were you?"

I stayed silent, glaring at him. Then, he spoke again.

"Listen, Gally, I think that... I think that Y/n is my sister. That's why I've been close to her. If she is, I wanna get to know her."Β

I scoffed, "You really think I'm gonna believe that?"

He didn't answer, because I didn't let him. I opened the pit door, gesturing for Thomas to get in. Once he did, I closed it, before starting to tie it up, while he spoke.

"Gally... you know we can't stay here forever, right? And Y/n... she wouldn't want to."Β

I didn't say anything, just grabbed the torch before walking away. He's lying. Y/n loves it here. Why would she want to leave?Β

I'm not gonna let Thomas take her away from me.
