The Lost Champion

We were walking down Route 4, the route between Santalune and Lumious City. The Route was lined with hedges arranged in an intricate maze. One of which we were, sadly, lost in.

"How much longer?" Chespin sighed, "We've been walking forever."

"We wouldn't even be lost if you hadn't insisted on chasing that Flabebe," I growled at him.

"You heard the stuff that Flabebe said," Chespin replied, "How could I not go after it?"

"You could have been the bigger Pokemon and just... I don't know... maybe... NOT RUN AFTER IT and force us to follow you into the giant maze," Fennekin shouted, "Why am I traveling with a nutcase like you, anyways?"

"Because our trainers wanted to travel together," Chespin answered, glancing at Nick, Morgan, and Genevieve.

"I can't see a single thing over these hedges," Nick grumbled.

"That must mean we're totally and utterly lost," Morgan noted.

"This wouldn't be the first time," Genevieve mumbled.

"We weren't lost!" Morgan defended herself, "I knew exactly where we were! We just could get out!"

"That sounds strangely similar to lost to me," Nick replied.

Shouting caused me to turn my attention back to the Pokemon in front of me.

"You're slower than a Slowbro!" Fennekin shouted at Chespin.

"You're as defenseless as a Magicarp!" Chespin shot back.

"You're as useless as one!" Fennekin retorted.

"That's enough," Conner stated, stepping between the two bickering Pokemon, "Arguing gets us no where."

Chespin and Fennekin glared at each other, but were wise enough not to push it. Conner sighed and walked between the two in order to prevent another argument.

"Ha, ha! I told you foolish human slave Pokemon that you'd get lost in this maze!" a voice cried out. A small Flabebe flew out from behind one of the bushes.

"You again?" Chespin growled, "What do you want?"

"I'm just studying the stupidity of human- trained Pokemon," the Flabebe answered.

"You'd think that a Flabebe would be nicer," I grumbled.

"Well, lucky you, Pikachu," the Flabebe stated, "I'm not like what everyone thinks I should be like."

"So? You're still the 4th most annoying Pokemon I've meet, and I'm not letting you off the hook!" Chespin exclaimed, lunging at Flabebe. Flabebe just laughed and floated out of range.

"Chespin!" Morgan yelled, "Stop attacking the poor, defenseless Flabebe!"

"Poor and defenseless?" Chespin asked, "More like fourth place annoying, totally insane demon!" Chespin growled.

"Who's the bigger Pokemon?" Fennekin chided.

"Not you," Chespin replied.

"Ignore the Flabebe and keep going," Conner told Chespin, walking ahead. Fennekin trotted after him. Chespin reluctantly followed, giving Flabebe a glare as he pasted by. I followed behind him.

Flabebe, seemingly annoyed we left it behind, pursued us.

"Are you going to Lumious City?" Flabebe inquired.

"None of your business," Chespin replied.

"If you're heading towards Lumious, you might want to know that it's closed." Flabebe stated, ignoring Chespin.

Chespin snorted. "Yeah, right."

"Well, you'll see for yourself," the Flabebe noted. With that said, Flabebe flew over the hedge and out of our view.

"Good residence," Chespin mumbled under his breath. I mentally rolled my eyes.

"Hey," Fennekin whispered, pausing in her tracks, "Do you hear that?"

I perked my ears up and listened. I could hear a noise that sounded like lots of people were gathered in one place. "Yes," I answered.

"If we follow that noise," Fennekin noted, "we might be able to find a way out of this maze." I nodded in agreement.

Genevieve, Nick, and Morgan must have noticed our halt. "What is it?" Genevieve asked, "Did you find a way out of the maze?"

"Yes! Follow us!" Fennekin cheered, trotting aat the front of the group, using the noise as a guide. Occasionally, she would pause at a fork, and I'd help her decide which turn to take. Eventually, we made it out of the maze and arrived at one of Lumious City's gates A crowd had gathered and appeared to be interrogating two people.

One was a boy with blonde hair and blue eyes. He had on a red tie. The other was a girl with long, black hair and brown eyes. She had on a blue tie.

We walked closer to get a hear the conversation. I climbed on to Genevieve's shoulder to get a better view.

"How long is the blackout going to last?" one person demanded, "I was in the middle of a new Ability Ranger episode!" Many other people voiced their complaints as well.

"Calm down," the girl replied, "Getting to power on is our number one priority."

"Are there any clues as to what might have caused the mass blackout?" another person inquired.

"We are following a lead at the moment," the girl answered, "we'll update everyone as soon as possible."

"Was this done by a person?" a different crowd member questioned.

The girl glanced at her partner, who nodded encouragement. Taking a deep breath, she stated, "Yes. In fact, we believe it was the doing of-" the girl paused for a second before continuing, "of Team Flare."

At this, the crowd burst into a million questions, complaints, and worries. The speaker looked at her partner desperately. Her partner was scanning the crowd, as if looking for someone.

As his gaze crossed over Genevieve and I, recognition flashed in his eyes, mixed with relief.

"Champion!" he shouted, wading through the crowd towards Genevieve, "I was hoping you'd show up!"

Genevieve blinked in confusion. "Ch- champion?" she stuttered.

Before the boy could state anything, his partner raced up to Genevieve.

"We have much to discuss, but this is not the place. Follow us to the Professor's lab," she whispered.

Turning around, the two lead the way through the crowd and into the city.

We all followed then trough the gate. When the girl turned around, she noticed Nick and Morgan.

"You two stay outside," she ordered, "only the Champion and her Pokemon can come."

"Please, I would prefer if they could come," Genevieve stated, "They have business with Professor Sycamore as well."

"So you are two of the Professor's pupils?" the boy questioned.

"Yes. See?" Morgan replied, holding her Pokedex out, revealing a special seal just about the place the Pokemon would be shown on the screen. Nick did the same.

"So you are," the girl noted, "I guess it would be polite to introduce ourselves. I'm Sina."

"I'm Dexio," Dexio added, "Nice to meet you."

"I'm Morgan," Morgan introduced herself, "And this is my partner, Chespin!"

"HI!" Chespin exclaimed.

"I'm Nick," Nick answered, "My partner is Fennekin."

"Pleasure," Fennekin nodded.

"I'm Genevieve. The Pikachu is Amanda, and the Charmander is Conner," Genevieve stated.

"Yes, Genevieve. We've meet before, remember?" Sina questioned.

"Ah... No," Genevieve admitted.

Morgan, noticing Sina and Dexio's confusion, explained, "Genevieve was struck by lightning and has amnesia," Morgan explained, "I had no idea she was the Kalos Champion."

Dexio and Sina thought for a moment. "Maybe the Professor can help," Dexio suggested.

Genevieve nodded. "Maybe..."

"Yes. Let's find a cure for our non- existant amnesia," I mumbled under my breath.

"What did you say?" Fennekin inquired. Conner shot me a warning glare.

"Nothing!" I exclaimed quickly.

Sina and Dexio lead our group down Lumious' darkened streets. They eventually stopped at a three- story building.

The building look fancy, and somewhat old- fashioned, causing it to stand out compared to the surounding, modern looking buildings. A golden fence ringed the building, with tall gates blocking the entrance. Two pillars bordered the sides of the gate, toped with the statue of a Pokeball. The build itself looked like it might be a small mansion. No doubt this must be a great place to work.

Sina and Dexio walked up to the door and lead us into a well- lit hallway.

"I thought that the city was in the middle of a blackout," Nick noted.

"It is," Dexip replied, "However, both the Pokemon Center and this research lab are equipped with back up generators."

"Oh," Nick stated.

Dexio and Sina lead the way up two flights of steps and into a small work room.

"Professor Sycamore!" Sina called, "We have guests!"

A tall man with black hair and grey eyes walked up to us. He was wearing a long, white lab coat.

"Oh! Hello, Genevieve! Nice to see you again! And Morgan and Nick! This is our first meeting. My name is Augustine Sycamore. I'm delighted to finally meet you two! I trust you're filling up your Pokedex pages, correct?"

"Yes, sir!" Morgan and Nick exclaimed at the same time.

Professor Sycamore smiled. "That's great!"

"Professor," Sina stated, "Genevieve says she has amnesia from getting dtruck by lightning."

"Really?" Professor Sycome asked, looking thoughtful. He turned to Sina, Dexio, Morgan, and Nick. "Why don't you four step outside for a moment, please."

Each of them nodded in understanding, then left the room, taking their Pokemon with them.

"So," Professor Sycamore stated when they had left, "You have lost your memory?"

"Well... actually," Genevieve stuttered, "I haven't lost my memory, exactly..."

"Then why do you claim that you have?" the Professor inquired.

"Because, well, you see, I'm not exactly supposed to be here," Genevieve explained nervously.

"Really?" Professor Sycamore asked, "Why?"

"Ah... I'm, uh... sort from a different dimension..." Genevieve trailed off.

A look of shock crossed the Professor's face. "Are you really?" he questioned.

"Yes. I'm from a place called Chattanooga. There are no Pokemon where I live. It is just an extremely adicting video game. Also, Amanda and Conner are really humans. When we came here, they somehow got transformed into Pokemon. I was hoping that you might be able to help us get back home."

The Professor stood there for a moment, taking all the information in. Eventually, he stated, "I don't believe I can help you. However, I might be able to give you some advice. Tell me exactly everything that happened."

Genevieve explained everything that happened to us at the Boo in the Zoo event, then explained how Morgan said she found us. Professor Sycamore listened intently.

"Perhaps Amanda and Conner transformed because they were dress the way they were. Also, the other Genevieve always had a Pikachu and Charmander by her side, who were surprisingly formidable in battle. Maybe that Amanda and Conner were transformed into them because in this dimension, they are them."

"I hate cosmic doubles," I growled, "I want to be a human again." Conner nodded his agreement.

"Based off of your story, I believe that Zapdos, one of the three legendary birds who has recently been reported in Kalos, could be your culprit," the Professor continued.

"Where can I meet it?" Genevieve asked eagerly.

"Zapdos is rumored to be living in the Sea Spirit's Den on an island in the Azule Bay. The quickest way to get there is to cut through the Central Plaza onto the North Bulevard. However, because of the black out, it is closed."

"Is there another way to get there?" Genevieve inquired.

"Yes," Professor Sycamore answered, "It will take longer, but it is the only other way. You go down Route 5, and loop through Cyllage City, Shalour City, and eventually reach Courmarine City, near the Azule Bay. It's a path most of the League challengers take. I am going to assume that both Nick and Morgan will be taking that route as well, so you won't be traveling alone."

"That's great," Genevieve stated, "Thanks for your help!" She, Conner, and I walked out the door.

Morgan and Nick appeared to be talking to Dexio and Sina. When they noticed us, Morgan waved us over.

"Any luck?" she questioned.

"Yes," Genevieve answered.

"And do you have your memories back?" Nick asked.

"Not exactly," Genevieve replied, "But I will soon!"

"How?" Morgan inquired.

Genevieve smiled. "Which of you would like to meet the legendary bird Pokemon, Zapdos?"

Well, that was fun! Sorry it took so long to get it up here! I honestly had half of it done a week ago, but I had to do it in a notebook (Long story) and I hate copying things from on paper to the computer. But it's done now, so I hope you enjoyed it!

Also, school is officially out, which means there should be more updates! I'm going to do my best to get back to a weekly schedule, but no promises.

Anyways, please vote, comment, and I'll see you next Author's Note!
