Chapter 11

(Pre-Final)

Marshalls P.O.V:

Wow. That's the only word I can use to describe this moment, I'm walking with the girl of my dreams, and we're in a town by this point we can basically call our home. It's a nice scene, a great change up actually. Usually we're fighting something or someone is coming after us, or some nonsense like that. It's great to let our guards down for once, although even after what Gumwad said I think Fee is still on the nervous side about Cake finding out about us. I just want her to have a good time.

I wrapped my arm around her shoulders and pulled her closer to me, I'm hoping this will get her to calm down but I don't think that's going to happen. I sighed, I guided us over to a bench, while people's faces blurred past I couldn't help but finally glance down at Fionna she kept her head down. Was she embarrassed of me? I removed my arm and she finally looked up at me.

"Are you okay Marshall?" she asked.

"I should be the one asking you that. What's up you've been quiet since we left the castle."

"Um well, I'm not used to going out in public without my hat." She said in almost a whisper.

"Oh. Well look at it this way, people won't hardly recognize you, especially with the outfit you have on no one is likely to recognize you." I reassured her. I didn't realize she had such a bad insecurity about her hat.

"Do you really think so?" she asked hopefully.

"I do. Now come on I have a full day planned," I took her by the hand and led her over to a fountain, "You have to make a wish." I gave her a coin I had stashed away in my jeans.

"What do I wish for?" she never took her eyes off the coin. Suddenly her face lit up. She blew on the coin and flipped it into the fountain. The made a plop noise and the droplets kind of resembled crystals, the low ripples from the coin are at ease, the air was fresh, and it was just tranquil. I looked over at Fionna and she was looking up at me with a smile that could melt the heart of millions.

"What did you wish for?" I was curious, it had to be good.

"I can't say, but hopefully you'll find out soon." She booped my nose. I was confused. But while I was in my thoughts she managed to wonder off. What the heck, how does she manage this? I was looking around trying to find any sign of her, she pulled a really good disappearing act but I really need to find her. Just as I was to take a break I walked past a store that had a stuffed bunny in the window. It was cute, little black eyes that have a shine to them; the white fur looks silky and fluffy. I have to get it for her. I walked inside and the store clerk just smiled and looked back at a paper he was reading. I picked up the rabbit and made the purchase. As he was bagging the gift he looked at me curiously. "You're a little old for a stuffed animal aren't you?" he asks with a smile.

"Eh what can I say I get scared at night, I have to have my little bunny to keep me company." I joking said.

"Oh I see. She's pretty you know." He said looking past me. I was confused so I followed his gaze and I saw Fionna in a park playing with the little kids. She's stunning. "I saw the coat she was wearing and put two and two together." He laughed, "Have a good day son." I walked out of the store and headed to where Fionna was, I can't believe it's already starting to get dark we haven't done anything, but if we went home right now it would be the of a perfect day.

"Fionna!" I chased after her and she saw me and laughed, she met me half way. "Where did you run off to?" I honestly curious.

"Well those kids over there got their kite stuck in a tree and I got it down for them. I went back to where you were and you were gone. I came back; I figured you would think of looking in the park." She chuckled. I'm an idiot.

"Well I got something for you. Close your eyes and hold out your hands."

"It isn't something gross is it?" she did as she was told.

"No, in fact I think you may like this gift very much." I placed the rabbit in her hands. She opened her eyes and they went huge, he engulfed the little stuffed animal in a hug. "I take it that you like it?" I asked. She nodded her head. That smile is amazing. But I'm going to mess with her a little bit. "Okay well I need it back now I got to return it." I had my arm extended ready to take it.

"O-Okay, can I hold it for it for just a little longer?" she looked heart broken. Nope can't do this anymore it hurts to see her like this.

"I-it was just a joke Fee! I'm sorry I didn't think you would take me seriously!" I panicked.

"I know you were that's why I got you back." She had a little smug look on her face, wow she actually got me.

"That's the first time you got me. I'm very surprised at you actually." I was dumbfounded.

"Yup, I'm learning you better than you think." She gloated. Clever girl.

"Oh are you now?" I took a step closer to her. She just looked up at me with the smug smile still on her lips. "Well can you think about what I'm going to now?" she only stared at me. I inched a little bit closer to her, she was starting to get nervous, good. I finally got to where I was just a few inches from her beautiful kissable lips. I stopped just before they touched. I put one hand on hers; she finally let her guard down. In the moment it for me to get that close to her I swiped the rabbit and flew up high. I watched as she just registered what happened.

"Marshall! That's not funny!" a red-faced, embarrassed Fionna yelled. "Get back down here Marshall!"

"I couldn't help myself it was just too perfect. I was going to kiss you I really was but I couldn't let you get away with what you said." I chuckled. I held onto the rabbit and flew just above Fionna's reach.

"Marshall, I'm going to get you for this!" She is enraged. I'm still the one laughing. I know how to mess with her even more.

"How about this, I'll make you a deal Fee," That got her attention. "Tell me you're in love me and I'll give it back." This will get her. I watched as she seriously thought about it. I used to joke about this all the time with her but now I'm kind of nervous.

"Marshall..." Oh crap she's hesitant; does she really not love me? I can feel my heart breaking a little. "You already know the answer to that." What no I don't. If I did I wouldn't be asking.

"I want to hear you say it." I'm being serious now. I'm freaking out. I don't even have a pulse but I can feel my heart-rate accelerate.

"I'm in love with you." She says with a very serious face but a little too quiet for my liking. I float down but cautiously keep hold of the rabbit.

"I'm sorry say that again I couldn't hear you." I say poking my ear out a little.

"I said I'm in love with you." Just a little bit louder.

"One more time still a little too quiet." I'm being very spiteful.

"I'M IN LOVE WITH YOU MARSHALL LEE!" Okay that time I heard her loud and clear, as well as the kingdom. Her face was red but I'm sure that's more out of embarrassment than it is anger. She's a little annoyed at the most. I handed her the rabbit and kissed her on the cheek. She seemed to calm down a little bit but to be safe I gave her a hug too. I can't wait for to be night time so I can finally get rid of this dumb umbrella it's limiting my movements too much.

"I'm sorry I upset you, I was just picking at you." She hugged me back finally.

"You know I'm in love with you, why did you make me say it like that." She said a little annoyed.

"Because I love you, and I wanted to make sure you felt the same. Now that I hear myself say it I'm a little embarrassed by my actions. I owe her an apology. "I'm sorry Fee, can you forgive me."

"I'll think about it." She says a little more upbeat. I held onto her for a few more seconds and I finally released her.

"Come on we got a lot of stuff to do." I took her hand into mine and pulled her to our next destination, I'm taking her back to where our story began, the Palace Ballroom. Gumwad said there was a ball tonight which made this the perfect night to take Fionna out on a date.

"Where are we going to next?" she questioned.

"It's a surprise." I mean, I'm honestly surprised she hasn't heard about it.

"Wait we're heading back to the Castle?" She asks.

"Yeah. But don't worry things aren't over yet." I responded. Gumball set me up so I can sing tonight. I was going to have Fionna join me but after what happened today with my stupidity I think I will just sing to her instead, and later toward the end of the night I'll bring her up on stage and have her sing with me. I already know what we're going to sing. It's our favourite song we listen to it every chance we get. And one part of that song describes how I feel, I can't promise things won't be broken but I swear that I'll never leave. Those lyrics are perfect, just like Fionna. I couldn't think of a better song to sing with her. Right now I need to think of the song that I'm going to use to apologize to her with I have an idea but I'm scared she won't get the message. I just have to hope.

We made it to the Palace and people were pouring in, if she didn't get an idea of what's going on before she has to now. "Marshall, why are going to a ball? I'm not dressed appropriately for a ball." She stopped where she was.

"I knew you were going to say something like that, but I can assure you that you are indeed dressed very well for this. I just want you to have fun." I assured her.

"O-okay, but if stuff starts getting weird you have to let me leave." She cautioned.

"If things start getting weird we'll both leave." I chuckled. She laughed too. We walked in with our heads held high. Everything looked amazing; Gumwad never ceases to amaze me, although I'll never tell him that. Fionna and I stopped by the buffet table and stuffed our faces. I shoved a handful of gummy bears into Fionna's mouth when she wasn't paying attention. I laughed as she tried to eat the gummy bears with the mouth full of cake. Someone came over and tapped me on the shoulder, I turned to see a candy citizen wearing a head set and carrying a clipboard. "You're up next Mr. Lee." He noted.

"Uh thanks give me a minute." I replied. He walked away and I turned to Fionna, she was curious.

"Who was that?" She asks.

"Uh the stage manager, I need to go sing Fee, I want you to be up front watching." I practically begged. She just smiled pushed me toward the stage.

"Go sing. I'll be cheering you on. Just look for me okay." She smiled a genuine smile. I couldn't help but steal a kiss even if it was quick. I returned the smile, "I love you." Was what I said. I ran on stage and picked up my guitar. The crowd was cheering and the band behind me, I want her to forgive me, I want her to forgive for not being the best boyfriend ever, for getting upset at silly things, for being unable to control my emotions, for not being able to actually tell her how I feel. I want her to see how I feel, and this song is going to do it.

The crowd was going wild, I looked down and saw Fionna's water eyes she was smiling I hope she got the message. I want her to know I love her; I want her to forgive me. I jumped off stage and embraced her in a hug. "Do you forgive me?" I asked in the crook of her neck.

"You're an idiot, of course I forgive you, I was messing with you earlier when I said I would think about it."

"I've done so many stupid things though, I love you Fee." I confessed to her

"I love you too Marshall" she kissed me this time. It pure passion, the love she felt for me showed just now. Her soft lips, her warmth, her aroma, just her. She's my angel. We broke the kiss; I just looked at her and smiled. I felt a pounding in my chest, my heart doesn't beat but when a love for someone is this strong it will start any dead heart. This night isn't over yet, the party is just getting started.

Hello my beautiful rose buds well the end is near but fret not, because this story has brought me pleasure to write and the ending will hopefully be to all of your all's liking.
