Keep Your Enemies Close

[Hey everyone! Thank you so so much for reading this story! This is just a really short, sorta cute chapter because I love Ron and Harry's friendship. If you like it, vote for it or leave a comment. I appreciate all of you so much and I hope you all enjoy this update! Oh, and it's canon that Harry had very clear skin. Just a fun fact!]

"Harry, you know I always break out when I'm stressed," Ron muttered as he studied his face in a mirror. "I've got more acne on my face than clear skin and that isn't a good sign."

"Yeah, well it isn't my fault this whole Yule Ball thing is stressing you out, mate," Harry said.

Ron put down the mirror he was holding. "And how do you have such flawless skin?"

"Yeah, Harry, how do you do it?" Seamus, who was laying in bed behind them, asked. "Harry 'Great Skin' Potter strikes again!"

Harry let out a humorless laugh. "Very funny, Seamus."

"Yeah, Harry! Reveal your secrets!" Ron half-shouted.

Harry pushed his glasses up his nose and stood up. "I'm going downstairs for breakfast, I'll see you lot later."

He paced the corridor outside of the common room, feeling queasy. If he went downstairs for breakfast, he'd have to talk to Draco, and there was nothing he wanted less than that.

Suddenly Hermione emerged from the portrait hole. She raised an eyebrow at him and kept walking, but Harry didn't follow. He didn't think he could keep any food down at this point.

After a few minutes Ron tapped him on the shoulder. "I thought you were downstairs, mate!"

"I'm not hungry," Harry responded.

"Oh really? Or are you just avoiding someone?"

"Oh, piss off, Ron."

"Come on, I can practically smell the food from here..." Ron eyed the hallway longingly. If only someone could look at Harry like Ron looked at food.

"Ron, go on, I'll be fine," Harry leaned on the wall, arms crossed over his chest.

"No, you know what, I'm not that hungry," Ron said. He coughed to cover the sound of his stomach growling. "Really, Harry! I'm fine. Let's just stay up here".

And stay they did.

After a long silence, Ron asked, "So Harry, who are you avoiding? Is it Draco? If it is I swear I'll drag that rat around the school by his greasy hair right after I-"

"Ron, you don't need to do this," Harry interrupted. "I'm fine."

But Ron didn't hear him. Instead, he listed in gruesome detail the things he would do to Harry's arch nemesis, his explanation riddled with well-chosen strings of curses. The cloud over Harry's heart lifted, and after a long while the two of them jogged downstairs for the remaining few minutes of breakfast.
