CHAPTER TWENTY- FOUR

She couldn't explain it but something had shifted. Something had changed in the energy surrounding the town that night, but as far as Venus and the pack knew, everything was fine.

Something was coming and she knew it.

She had picked up Isaac that morning as usual, making their way to school together. The werewolfs eyes catch onto to three people conversing by the main door and rushes out of the girls car. As she rushes after him, she spots Scott speaking with the twins next to their bikes.

"We'd add strength. We'd make you more powerful." Aiden says as the pair approaches them, stopping next to Scott. "There's no reason to say no."

"I can think of one." Isaac interrupts, crossing his arms over his chest. "Like the two of you holding Derek's claws while Kali impaled Boyd. In fact, I don't know why we're not impaling them right now."

Aiden steps forward towards Isaac, baring his teeth and growling at the boy, but before Isaac can react Vee places a hand on his shoulder.

"How about not creating a bloodbath in the school parking lot, hm?" She smiles sarcastically at the two werewolves about to rip each others throats out.

"Sorry, but they don't trust you." Scott decides, referring to his friends. "And neither do I."

The four of them walk away from the two werewolves, making their way into school, where Isaac had thankfully stopped a roll of toilet paper from hitting Venus right in the face. They part ways with Venus making her way to her locker, coincidentally across the hall from Scott and Stiles and next to Kira.

She noticed the girl fumbling around her small locker space nervously and makes the quick decision to approach her, fully knowing she would've loved for someone to do the same for her; someone who would help her fit in.

"Hey! We've spoken before, but I'm Venus." the girl greets, giving her best smile. The asian girl seemed startled at the sudden sound, causing her to slam her locker shut.

"Sorry, that scared me." Kira laughs awkwardly. "I'm Kira, but you already know that, sorry."

"Nice to meet you...again." this time, both girls laugh, slowly feeling the awkwardness slip away between them.

The two of them converse over their schedules for a couple minutes before walking to their next class together, which they found out that they shared.

"What are you looking at?" Stiles questions his best friend as he unzips his bag, noticing the boys eyes had been flitting across the hallways regularly.

"Me?" Scott plays dumb, shifting from his leaning position and turning to look at the boy next to him.

"You looking at her?"

"Who her?"

"Her, her. Kira." Stiles nods his head towards the mentioned girl, who was conversing with Venus at their lockers. "You like her?"

"No. I mean- Yeah, yeah, she's okay. She's...new."

"So, ask her out."

"Now?"

"Yes, now. Why not?"

Scott looks at his best friend strangely for a few seconds, taking his time to think before a smirk takes over his face. "If I ask her out, will you ask Venus out?"

"Venus? What? Why would I ask her out?" Stiles scoffs, unconvincingly, making Scott raise his eyebrows at him.

The former slams his locker shut, placing his arm around his friends shoulders as he leads him down the hall. "Scott, I don't think you get it yet. You're an alpha. You're the apex predator-"

"You're avoiding the question." Scott states in a sing song voice but Stiles ignores him yet again and continues his rambling.

"Everyone wants you. You're like the hot girl that every guy wants."

"The hot girl?"

"You are the hottest girl."

"Son of a bitch!" Finstocks yells sound through his office door and into the economics classroom, making everyone laugh. Venus could see Scott and Stiles sharing a smug look, leading her to believe this was their prank that was set off.

"Mischief night, devil's night." their teacher walk into the room, flinging a pencil onto the floor. "I don't care what you call it. You little punks are evil! You think it's funny every Halloween my house gets egged? A man's house is supposed to be his castle. Mine's a frickin' omelet."

Venus couldn't help but laugh at the mans reaction and the way he was describing things, but she felt bad for him at the same time. Everyone always pulls the most brutal pranks, it probably didn't help that it was his birthday either.

"Oh, this? We're gonna do this again? I don't think so." he continues yelling, picking up a present box that had been left on his desk proceeding to throw it on the ground and stomping all over it, its contents subsequently breaking.

The rest of their day went by mainly uneventfully, other than Venus spotting Lydia shoving Aiden into the guidance office. Then it all came crashing down when she spotted Stiles' father leaving through the main doors, and the boy himself appearing in front of her only seconds after.

Stiles grabs onto her arms gently and drags her along behind him down the hall. "Woah, Stiles! What's going on?"

"I'll explain when we find the others!"

Along their way, he matches onto Isaac, Allison and Lydia as well. Taking his sweet time, he explains that William Barrow β€” a supposed convict, had escaped from the hospital and was spotted near the school.

"Barrow went after kids with glowing eyes?" Isaac asks, rushing down the stairs behind Stiles.

"He said those exact words?" Venus almost laughed at the pure obviousness of the situation.

"Yeah. And no one knows how he woke up from anesthesia." Stiles explains further. "Just that when they opened him up, they found a tumor full of live flies, which in any other circumstance would be all kinds of awesome."

"How the fuck would that be awesome? I'm genuinely concerned over how your brain is wired." Venus retorts, furrowing her eyebrows in slight disgust at the remark.

"Did you say flies?" Lydia halts a few paces behind them looking concerned. "All day I have been
hearing this sound. It's like, this buzzing."

"Like the sound of flies?" Allison questions warily.

"Exactly like the sound of flies."

They split up shortly after, hoping to find Scott as soon as possible so they could track Barrow down. Venus was rushing behind Stiles through the hallways looking left and right for their werewolf friend while Lydia checked to see if the police was still here since she was almost certain that the man was here.

"You seem to know a lot more about the supernatural than we do." Stiles states, turning to look at Venus for a second. "Can Lydia actually sense something like this?"

"Oh yes, she can sense a lot of things." Venus lets out a small laugh. "Banshees are known to mainly sense imminent death, so whatever she feels, just trust her."

"What about you? Does anything seem off to you?"

"I don't know." she sighs. "I've had this feeling since last night like somethings not right, and you said that was when he was admitted but I can't be certain if it has anything to do with this."

They find Scott a few minutes later by the history classroom , quickly informing him of everything that was happening and finding out from Lydia that the police were leaving. They track down the rest of their friends, plus Ethan and Aiden, soon after, forming a plan on how to find Barrow.

Allison had left school to try to find anything out from her familys bestiary, Scotts mom had dropped off Barrows hospital gown and the werewolves were using it to track him down while Venus, Stiles and Lydia searched through the classrooms.

Venus was looking through the chemistry classroom, across the hall from Stiles and Lydia in the art room when they called out to her and started rushing down the halls again. Lydia had filled her in of their revelation on how Barrow was probably going to use the boiler room to blow the school up. Venus had to stop herself from laughing in this really inappropriate time as coach dragged Stiles out of the school doors by his ears, yelling at him for puling the fire alarm.

"Stilinski, if I was four years younger, I'd punch you." the man yells as Lydia and Venus catch up with them.

"What? Coach, that doesn't make sense." Stiles retorts.

"Well, it does to me!"

The man walks away from them, going to check on the other students when Venus spots the rest of their friends standing a few feet away from them. She grabs Stiles' hand pulling him towards them, Lydia following close after.

"We didn't find anything." Aiden states as the trio reaches them.

"Not even a scent." Scott confirms.

"It's three o'clock, so school's over." Stiles reasons, looking around him, not even noticing he was still holding onto Venus' hand until she pulls it away, feeling a strange coldness through his palm. "If there was a bomb, wouldn't he have set it off by now?"

"Does that mean everybody's safe?" Ethan asks, worriedly looking at Lydia for an answer.

"I don't know."
