"good luck hanako," father said as i nodded, replying, "i'll make you proud."

that was the last thing i said before heading off, sprinting towards my destination, fujikasane mountain.

i've been training ever since i was 10, and it's been more than 6 years now. i was confident of my abilities, to say at the least. after all, i was the daughter of a former hashira, i have to pass.

and another reason was because i wanted to meet sanemi again.

it's been a year since i saw him, yet he's been in my mind for equally as long of a time.

i was determined to stay alive for him.

-

"you must survive there for seven days. good luck," the two girls said. i took a deep breath before i started running forward, on guard. i was safe for a good 30 minutes before i ran into my first demon.

"ah... i haven't had a meal in so long, i'm starving," the demon grinned as i drew my blade.

i smirked as the demon charged towards me.

second form, galaxy quartz

before i knew it, i had decaptitated the demon.

"now that was easy," i thought as i kept my sword back into the sheath as i continued my journey.

-

before i knew it, nearly 6 days had went by without any difficulty. i'm proud to say that i even managed to save some candidates from demons.

but despite it being a piece of cake, i was exhausted. i had suffered some injuries, though not serious, i still lost a decent amount of blood.

there was no time to rest, though, given that a demon was right in front of me.

sixth form, mountain slash

however, before i could reach the demon's neck, it had dodged as i landed on the ground, doing a forward roll before landing on my feet again.

"huh..." i muttered as i took my stance.

fourth form, thundering sky!

but again, before my blade could even reach the demon, it had dodged my attack, rushing straight towards me.

fifth form, fire opal

that did the trick, as it easily decaptitated the demon. i sighed in relief as i leaned against a nearby tree, catching my breath. that form always took up a lot of energy, and it was even worse when i was already exhausted enough.

before i could fully regain consciousness, i sensed another presence. a demon.

i groggily stood up as i positioned myself.

seventh form, typhoon rush

however, due to my exhaustion, i barely made it to the demon, collapsing halfway.

this was it. i was going to die.

i'm sorry father. i couldn't live up your expectations.

i winced, expecting an attack.

second form, water wheel!

and that was the last thing i remembered before i passed out.
