Diamonds and Pebbles

Okay, so maybe not 12 hours....    I have no excuse.

Here's a new chapter...

----------------------------------------------------

As I follow my fallen classmates, Aisawa stops me. "Your brother called this morning; your changing room will be this way." Pointing towards a smaller room, he leads me towards it and hands me the jersey. "A female teacher will be inside with you for safety reasons. She is trustworthy, I can assure you that." Informing me as if to reassure me, he warns me slightly about her attitude, saying she might be slightly disturbing. Leaving me alone in front of the room, he gazed at me with a grim facial expression before turning around and walking the other way.

I wonder what Dazai told him...

After abruptly opening the door, I stepped inside, finding a woman quietly reading a book in the corner. She had blue and black spikey hair and was wearing a slightly inappropriately tight costume. She was most likely also a hero. Looking up from her book and taking a distinct peak at me, she motions for me not to worry, comprehending my uneasiness. Feeling a tiny bit more comfortable, I go to the other side of the room to open the locker and put my stuff inside.

Staring at the mirror in the room, I slowly start to change. Though I could tell she was pretending not to look, I could see her staring at my scars. I stopped momentarily before I took my shirt off. to face the women who continued to stare back at me. "Are you not curious? " Tooken slightly aback, she widens her eyes before turning back to her vacant expression. "I won't force you or anything, but it would be nice to gain an explanation."

Nodding at her response, I turn back, continuing to change again. Through the mirror, I could see my scars clearly. A stab scar on my abdomen, a bullet scar on my shoulder, scars on my wrists (yes momentarily bad habits influenced by a certain idiot), and two large scars horizontally parallel around my shoulder blades. I scowled at my reflection, wishing that my skin could be as beautiful as hers without any marks. Quickly turning away, I swiftly put on the jersey before bidding good-bye to her and heading towards the gym.

Speeding through the fallway, I finally catch up to the other students. "Y/N Chan, where were you? " As energetic as always, she starts to question me, asking me if everything was okay. "I'm fine, gee, I was just called to use a different changing room by Aizawa sensei." Lightly answering her, I tell her that it was no big deal. Trusting me immediately, she goes back to normal, chatting with the other girls again.

Everybody lined up in front of the school grounds. Aizawa, standing in front of all of us, started to clarify the sudden test: "Here at UA, we're not tethered to traditions. That means that I get to run my class however I see fit." Stating out the obvious, the class explodes into confusion. It seems to me that they have done absolutely zero research on UA.

"You've been taking standardised tests most of your lives. But you never got to use your quirks in physical exams before. The country's still trying to pretend we're all created equal by not letting those with the most power excel. It's not rational. One day, the Ministry of Education will learn." Stating out a broad complaint against the government, I gawked at him, slightly impressed. These heroes really have freedom of speech.

Turning towards the explosion quirk boy, Bakugo, he shoves a ball into his hands. "Bakugo, you managed to get the most points on the entrance exam. What was your farthest distance thrown with a softball when you were in junior high? " Playing with the ball, Bakugo answers with a nochalant voice, "Sixty seven metres, I think."

Unbothered by the sparks Bakugo was creating from his body, Aizawa goes on and signals him to start. "Right. Try doing it with your quirk. Anything goes; just stay in the circle. Go on. You're wasting our time." Warming up, I watch as he confidently strides forward and yells out an unneeded "DIEEEEEE" as he throws the ball with all his might. The whole class watches the scene in awe, most of their jaws wide open; only me and Aizawa are casual, not swayed by the performance.

Blutly holding out the metre, the class gapes at the result. "Whoa, 705 metres, are you kidding me?" The class livesns; people right away wave their hands up and warming up to go next. Staring at the students, I could see the words 'naive' written all over his face. "Today you'll compete in eight physical tests to gauge your potential. Whoever comes in last has none and will be expelled immediately." As he spilled out harsh words, I could see my peers reactions instantly dividing into two halves. One is half certain of their ability, while the other is practically sweating waterfalls.

Letting out a groan, I sluggishly rose from my position and made the decision to prepare myself.  I had a disadvantage after all; my abi- quirk would not help me in any of these physical activities.  I hoped that the other students wouldn't possess the same level of athleticism as the explosive boy. With that in mind, I joined in the tests, eager to assess the potential within these indivisuals.

As I watched my classmates run, jump, and fight their way through the challenges, I found it amusing to watch them use their quirks. Although their abilities were much more powerful, I found myself intrigued by the science behind their bodies. The mere thought of Mori or Kajii obtaining access to the body of a quirk user sent a shiver down my spine, gaining a concerned expression from Ochako. I have to make sure that won't ever occur.

At the end of the whole quirk assessment, I find myself almost dying from exhaustion. Though I knew he wasn't serious about the whole expelling thing, I didn't want to stand out by coming out last. For some reason, I was always paired with someone abnormally fast or strong. It was definitely Aizawa's way of saying, "You can try harder." I absolutely hated the teacher. He proved to be the most troublesome person for this mission from the very first moment I met him. Just great.

Wiping the sweat off my face, I change and run towards Ochako, who was busy talking to Deku. "Oh, YN Chan! That was tiresome, wasn't it?" Weakly chuckling, I could tell she was exhausted. Her low stamina was a bit concerning so advised her to take care of herself. "Uhuh, make sure to take a rest, kay?" Blushing slightly at my comment, she pouts, pointing towards Deku and protesting that I should be saying that to him.

"Hehe, sorry about that. My fingers are all fixed now, and it didn't hurt as much as it looks!" He offers an uneasy smile, attempting to reassure her that there's no need for concern. "But Deku, that's not the issue. You can't keep injuring yourself like this." I facepalm, letting out a scowl that unintentionally resembles Aizawa. "Um, sorry. I'll make sure to be more cautious from now on." He lowers his gaze, mumbling once again as his thoughts wander, likely pondering how to better control his quirk.

Watching him, I reminded myself to write a report on what had happened during school and some points I wanted him to research. Looking around the school, I had a few ideas of what hero society was like. Though the students were definitely diamonds here, they were mere pebbles compared to ability users, and they were not worth investing my time in. I needed to focus on the mission.

Waving goodbye to Ochako, I trudge towards my house, hoping to see Tanizaki san waiting there.

━━━━ ◦ ❖ ◦━━━━

"Tadaema!" My heart brimming with hope, I see the house lights are on. Someone's home! Kicking my shoes and throwing the bag onto my bed, I stumble through the hallway to see Tanizaki San cooking food in the kitchen. "Tanizaki San Okaeri!" Overjoyed, I jump towards him, embracing him in a hug.

"Tadaema Y/N, I ended up making dinner without you; is that okay?" Hearing his voice again, I slightly tear up. After the test, he left me alone for a week until the acceptance letter from the UA came, and he told me he would come home after the first day of school. In Summary, I just missed him a lot.

Finally releasing my grip on him, I wipe away the tears, feeling a mixture of relief and lingering affection. With a childlike grin adorning my face, I give him a playful wave before energetically scampering towards the dining room, eager to make the necessary preparations for our the meal.

Listening to Tanizaki San as he explains the information that he gained from the League of Villains, I finish my pasta. Putting the fork down, it makes a clank sound as it hits the plate. I look over at his papers. " Don't you think the dates are too good? It's as if they know UA's schedule." Looking at the marked dates, he faces back at me, nodding. " You're right; So far that I've talked to them, they've also mentioned something like "the UA brat. " There's probably a traitor.

Comprehending his words, I smirk back at him confidently. " Leave it to me; if there's somebody who can find a spy, it's another one." Amused by my reaction, he chuckles and extends his phone towards me, displaying a text message on the screen: " Message from Dazai San: Don't spill the beans until the guests are here."

As I envisioned Dazai texting this message, I couldn't help but burst into laughter, finding it immensely amusing. "Let him know that I had already intended to do so," I chuckle, handing the phone back to him. He rises from his seat, taking the plates and placing them in the kitchen sink. "Oh, and he also mentioned that you should write up the report. He's expecting something impressive."

Sucking in a sharp breath, I look to the side and take out a piece of paper as I start to aggressively write in silence. Tanizaki, watching in amazement, decided to take a photo of this scene, secretly sending it to Dazai for fun.

Through the absolute silence, the only thing you could hear was the sound of a pen furiously scratching on paper, along with the sound of somebody typing frantically on the computer. Minutes passed by, and the silence was finally interrupted by my exhausted voice  "Finally fucking done." About to die, I stretch on the back of the chair, extending my arms wide, rereading the whole report as a last check. In total, there are 3 pages full of gibberish that wouldn't be able to be read by anyone other than the higher ups.

Curious, Tanizaki San comes up to the table, a frown forming as he reads the report. "Is it a code?" Face forward, slumping on the chair, I nodded lazily. "I have to write it in code, scan it using special paper, and then send it to him." Pushing myself up, I take out my phone and, one by one, start to take photos of the papers. "That's how confidential this mission is."

Saying this, I could see as he stiffened a little, becoming more serious. "What does it say?" Looking back at the reports, I summarised them, not willing to say the whole thing. "Basic security of the whole school, future trips and classes we have, and then some classmates of mine I wanted him to research on." Hearing the last part, he raises an eyebrow, showing interest. "Some kid had some very interesting powers. Similar to all might, too similar."

Standing up from the chair, I walk to the kitchen to start brewing coffee. I had a feeling it was going to be a long night. "We just need some basic information for blackmailing. Though I myself think that the existence of ability users is strong enough," watching as coffee boils, I add, "I guess the more over we go, the more fear we'll inflict." Sniggering, I took out a biscuit from the counter and started to munch on it.

"I have to say, this plan is quite devious. Half of it's for revenge after all."
